I'm getting a SYB-5 soon for my bass. I was wondering which expression pedal you use. There is one they recommend that around $60 and plastic, but I've also looked into getting a roland volume pedal that can be used as an expression pedal that's all metal, but $90. No need to go through all of the settings just liesten to what he is doing and get ideas..eiter copy the sounds you like or dont, music is about sound...listen with your ears then make an adjustment and listen again! Probably similar to how he got the sounds he likes to use. With his ears!!!! If you don't have good ears then maybe try painting or some other art form?

@SirCondy it's an "expression pedal" it basically does the job of a knob, so instead of having to bend down to move a knob around (volume, pitch, depth..), you can use your foot. and that syb-5 pedal has an input jack for it.

@TopClubMixesToday there's also cheaper options of most instruments. Take a look at the DigiTech JamMan Delay Looper Phrase Sampler Pedal. It can play 36 hours of looping + has built in effects. It also has a SD card slot to save & load external sounds from other devices.

@TopClubMixesToday All the Boss GT loop stations do prity much the same stuff. They just get repackaged, updated with the odd extra effects & software. Think of them as cars. They change the shape & do a few tweeks so people think they are better. Most older equipment is better made & more powerful. The older Boss GT range were more expensive. These days everything is about cost cutting & making things cheaper to get more sales.

@TopClubMixesToday The Boss GT-6B seems to have almost the same Bass effects & abilities as the GT-10B. The ins & outs look identical. My advice would be call into a local music store & get the conformation. To be honest I'm no tech head like Dub FX. I just do what everyone else does. Research other video demos & then check the Roland site for stats. Armed with the info I know what to ask for when I go to buy. Personally I'd just get the Boss GT-10B the prices are cheapish if you look around.

Musicians are a dime a dozen and there aren't many I would care to ever meet in person but Dub FX is definitely at the top of that list. I'd do almost anything (within reason of course) to just chill in his private studio watching him make his magic. "I Never Made It" is one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard and it will forever be imprinted on my soul.

@Mantis1987 i think settings should be a personal thing. you don't want to sound the same as someone else. no one can be you better than you. i tried to copy Dub's sound but could never reach it cause i'm not him. developing your sound is like personal growth. if someone just gave you the answers you'd miss the journey.

@UnholyOnionProd I started doing the same thing about a month ago; bought Dub's setup. But my main instrument is a saxophone, so I kinda wanted to do a Dub FX + Woodnote thing by myself. Having said that, I wish I had done the GT-10, not the GT-10B. GT-10 would be better for me, since I want more differences in my sax sounds, not different bass sounds.

As for tutorials, STOP SEARCHING AND JUST BUY! I learned more in 4 hours of practice than anything on the net.

when using so many efx live i tend to get a lot of "peaking" once volium is up outdoor its fine but in a club i cant get much volium before it starts houling ! any advise ?
