Summer is more famous to us game show fans as the hostess from Sale of the Century and as a fill in on Wheel of Fortune. She always seemed like total class on those shows, by far the classiest hostess on game shows.

Wanted to add Pam came to our high school when i was a sr to tell us about her modeling in New York & to give advice to my class current beauty queen. She said a man mistook her for Cheryl Tiegs once which flattered her. Pam won lots of titles in her day. She came back to our town, married & had a couple of kids I heard. Not heard anything about her since.

1st Runner up, Miss Alabama, Pam Flowers in this pageant went to my high school & was in my cousins class. Our town was so proud she got this far since we were a very tiny town to have such a wonderful outgoing beautiful girl to come from our humble little town and do so well. She was very personable and had that very distinct southern bell accent. I remember I was so young seeing this on tv. We wanted her to win so bad. But I will never forget the name Summer Bartholomew

Constance Ann Dorn, Miss North Carolina and the 2nd runner-up in this pageant, was Miss North Carolina 1972 in the Miss America Pageant and finished as 1st runner-up to Miss America 1973!! Never saw a contestant place so high in the rankings in both pageants before. Impressive.

excellent pageant info! i have lived in nc for like 40 years and only once have we won in my lifetime, i think, miss usa a few yrs ago..she was great..we are always so close and should win many times, but don't. This was a great choice for Miss USA- I was a 9 yr old little boy when i saw this on tv- i still remember her name and that gown was imbedded in my brain!!!

Yes impressive indeed. However one woman equalled her placement. She is Miss TN USA 1984 and Miss TN 1982, Desiree. Desiree also placed 1st runner up at Miss America and 2nd runner up at Miss USA.

Hopefully there can soon be a woman to place at both pageants...

@Samuel72991 Sam, don't forget that Mai Shanley, "Miss USA 1984" competed with Vanessa Williams in September '83 as "Miss New Mexico" at the "1984 Miss America" contest where she didn't place. And for good measure, Mai's first runner up @ "Miss USA" was none other than West Virginia's Kelly Anderson who competed with Daniels, the 2nd runner-up, at the "1983 Miss America" contest where California's Debra Maffett won in September 1982.

in 1992 alabama and california finished in the same positions as they did here. CA won Alabama was 1st runner up
