Josh toured stadium arcadium with the Peppers so he had John showing him all the gear he used for the sound and the riffs played the way they should be not the way they are written on a music sheet, that's why Navarro never sounded right. John and Josh collaborated on a lot of music out of the RHCP's so he is a perfect replacement! But I fear they will drown out Josh's sound a bit until the crowds realize he has genius also!

They are great. I think it's so amazing they play Soul to Squeeze live again. I adore this song, and it was the highlight of my evening when I saw them last sunday.

Josh does nicely. But I can't help missing John... He plays the guitar as it was my soul. He FEELS everything he plays/sings. He connects his feelings with everyone, directly.

The more I listen to their new album.. the more I miss John lol. Seriously though Josh is doing a wonderful job filling a huge void left by Frusciante... but in my honest opinion, the band just isn't the same without John.. sure they still got the rambunctious energy to get the crowd going but with John they could emotionally connect with the crowd.. John has that special something that makes the guitar come to life and scream for dear life..
This is one of their first shows with the new lineup. They are clearly still trying to see how it all blends and figure shit out like what songs sound well and arrangements and shit. Give them a break. Let them tour for a bit, blend together, it will all fall into place. It was the same back when John joined the band.

@BlueVoiceMusic its got nothing to do with volume. He has shit tone, guitar is too thin and doesnt hold up or cut through in the mix. John had great tone & was a master of finding the right sound for the song. Also John has great 'attack' which Josh lacks also. Not trying to beat on Josh, just sayin theres alot more to it than just turning up the guitar.
Frusciante is not missed - Flea and Chad are the driving force behind the music. Josh fills the shoes of his mentor just perfectly. Fuck all you Haters.
I prefer Chilis older stuff but Klinghoffer does a wicked job, I reckon he does better versions of Frusciante's songs than Navarro did and I love Navarro's versions. Peace x

Josh played back up guitar for a couple years for these guys, you can see it in videos, him in the back playing guitar. He did an album with John, and was in a band with him. His first band also opened for RHCP ten years ago. He is the perfect choice for them. He has a different style, but so did John when he joined, he wasnt hillel, so eventually we will grow to love him, like everyone did when john joined. sure hes nervous, i would be to playing with rhcp. rock on josh, never forget john!

@Edenov They play the same guitars basically. They both prefer older guitars, mainly strats or telecasters. Josh plays a variety of old funk guitars like Jaguars as well. John manly stuck to the 62' strats. OH, fun fact, the guitar Josh uses in Californication, the Gretch White Falcon. That's actually John's =) John doesn't play it anymore because, like I said he is into older guitars.

I prefer Chilis older stuff but Klinghoffer does a wicked job, I reckon he does better versions of Frusciante's songs than Navarro did and I love Navarro's versions. Peace x

Josh played back up guitar for a couple years for these guys, you can see it in videos, him in the back playing guitar. He did an album with John, and was in a band with him. His first band also opened for RHCP ten years ago. He is the perfect choice for them. He has a different style, but so did John when he joined, he wasnt hillel, so eventually we will grow to love him, like everyone did when john joined. sure hes nervous, i would be to playing with rhcp. rock on josh, never forget john!

RHCP without John Frusciante = green mild garden tomatoes! backing vocals are just horrible and guitar work is lacking the cool factor! Frankly Josh is boring and sound no better than an average studio fill in ... blah!

@Edenov They play the same guitars basically. They both prefer older guitars, mainly strats or telecasters. Josh plays a variety of old funk guitars like Jaguars as well. John manly stuck to the 62' strats. OH, fun fact, the guitar Josh uses in Californication, the Gretch White Falcon. That's actually John's =) John doesn't play it anymore because, like I said he is into older guitars.

@rhcpguitarar Johns White Falcon is from 1955, just for Info. And johns is white as well (just faded a little over the years), the main difference is that Johns a Hollow Body, while Joshs a Solid Body.
