@laikros His brakes failed that's why he hit the Mazda. Second, the tire wall should have stopped him but weren't bundled together properly so they just formed a ramp when he hit them. Good old yanks and their health and safety expertise!!
@SmythC17 nobody gets killed in European racing, right ?? A1 ring sucks, Zandvoort sucks, Nurbugring is a death trap, Misano anyone ? Brands Hatch ?? There is no such thing as a 100% safe track, deal with it. Road America is a WORLD class facility, but like all tracks, it's not perfect.
What you saw go in front of the camera after the impact was a tire from the tire wall that flew over the fence. The Photog that is walking in front of the camer is one of the photogs that was standing next to me that bailed when he saw the car coming straight for us. The hill is pretty steep, so I'm thinking he dropped his gear & ran... I don't know... I kept shooting!!
