As one of the many that was initially discouraged by KOL's lack of tracks, I will say this: Each one of those tracks has a quality about them which is so unique and wonderful that it does not really bother me anymore. That being said, I don't think this song would have fit on KOL musically. This song is so vastly different from what they were doing on KOL that it deserved a single release. Now Staircase.... that song should have been on KOL.
Simply Amazing. This song sounds like they threw their old material and new material into a blender and out came a masterpiece. The Daily Mail tops every track from KOL in my opinion.
Fuck the people who take down videos like this. I bought KoL From the Basement after seeing these videos, and even though I own the DVD, I still want to listen to this song sometimes when I don't have my iPod or laptop with me. Youtube and filesharing are the new radio!
I think its a vintage Neumann U-boat 69. I had one once, and it did have a very crisp response. Unfortunately I damaged it after using the diaphragm as a contraceptive, having confused the term with birth control method which goes by the same name. It also did not help that I later attempted using the empty housing as a condom. Needless to say I unintentionally became a father, but it turned out well as the trombone player in this video is my son :)
i matched up this version with the studio version on my itunes, and they sound exactly alike in every single way. Almost no differences at all in singing, or tempo or anything. So idk if they sound exactly like their studio recording in every way or if this version is fake or somtin,
@omardipset I hate to be that guy, but the version they released is a studio version because this is a studio version. Just because everyone in the band is tracking live doesn't mean it isn't a studio version. Just throwing that out there...
I really don't know how to tell you to get it, but for me the 'key' to the whole album was either Bloom or Feral. Once you can like those, you can like them all. Kind of like how the 'key' for my liking Kid A was Idioteque and Morning Bell, and for Amnesiac it was Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors. It just takes that one song, that one moment where something clicks and you get it.
Without everyone jumping down my throat... I have yet to appreciate KOL. I loved every thing Radiohead has done except that album. I hear the depth and art of it. I just don't find it good. Someone help me understand PLEASE! I know ill get a lot of negative comments but I am looking for just one person to help change my view of the album. Ok? Start.....
@WeWontEscape If you don't get it, don't beat yourself over it. Pink Floyd are one of my most treasured bands yet I don't get everything they've ever done (ex: Ummagumma and half of the Wall).
@123Cynical I'm not sure if the entire band was really in the same head for those projects either, if you know what I mean. Ummagumma was sort of a collage and Roger Water's steered the band into his own storms.
@WeWontEscape All I can say without trying to weigh in on the album itself is, the From the Basement version of this album is by far superior to the original recording. Id watch that first to begin your transition lol.
@Tsuta Well, Go to Sleep live is rocky, Bodysnatchers, of course Paranoid Android, And foremost Electioneering. And these are just the ones that came to my mind immediately.
You can get this on kingoflimbs . com now as a single, comes with Staircase. Nice album art too :) This should be in the description or thumbsed up at least!
I sometimes think that I'm one lucky person for absolutely adoring every song I've ever heard Radiohead produce. I'm not just saying that either. I see so many "fans" listing their least favorite albums and stuff, but I really love everything this band has done together. Next to The Beatles and The Doors, Radiohead is my favorite band.
Seeing them perform these songs live on Colbert, and then listening to these glorious sessions gave me an appreciation I never thought possible for the King of Limbs... it's quickly becoming one of my favorite Radiohead albums...
btw, i dont really understand what the problem with the album of 'king of limb', and i dont like to judge other, come one who we are nw that we can judge other simply.
bt as a fan of RADIOHEAD, i should be proud, even i was bit of disapointed to them at first when i heard this latest album.
BUT
when u keep listen thoroughly, u can dig out many many surprises and being more admire, fanatic to them. they are trying to do something new and different, to venture the new idea of music.
Wow. I didnt know there are songs that werent released. This is AMAZING. This is the Radiohead that i like. TKOL.. i havent gotten used to the sound yet.

@etb513 Idk for me there isn't a single song on KoL that matches up to the raw emotion in Tom's voice in Jigsaw Falling Into Place...though I do kinda like Lotus Flower a bit
oooooohhehehehe i like this, not much of a fan of king of limbs, except the bass greenwood plays at the start of this, but wow, its good good and good
thing is people say this sounds like old radiohead, but radiohead never ever sounded this much like old style big band sound except for MAYBE Life in a Glasshouse. That's it.
@TheTelepathicKid It's less of the big band style and more of the raw energy in this song people are talking about. You're right about the big band sound though, Life in a Glass House is their only other similar song. But this captures the The Bends/Ok Computer-esque fire that seems to have dimmed on their last album.
The song structure feels a lot like You and Whose Army which is why I think this is a B-Side instead of on The King of Limbs. They make some pretty awesome B-Sides like Palo Alto, Pearly, Cuttooth, Kinetic, etc. This one is no diferent :)
