A lot of students and faculty members at these schooles are in place because they fit a "historically disadvantaged" profile, not because of merit. In legal research and writing we had to draw up an argument for or against the prosecutor having "qualified immunity" from recourse for his false accustations. A lot of students and faculty members at these schooles are in place because they fit a "historically disadvantaged" profile, not because of merit. I'm a Duke alumnus who dislikes jocks but loves truth and justice more. I'm sorry to see how low my school has fallen; first Stanley Fish, now this. I appreciate this video, and I would use the term "frame" rather than "hoax" -- "framed" means "hid the real evidence and/or made up fake evidence" and that's exactly what happened.

Nifong is getting one day in jail, which is actually pretty harsh compared to other prosecutors caught doing much worse.
Usually, when a prosecutor gets caught withholding, or even manufacturing evidence, nothing happens, even if the defendant was convicted. Often, the defendant doesn't even go free.
