Need for Speed Shift is not an arcade racing game, nor a racing simulator.
Instead, it's AUTHENTIC, or a mix between arcade and sim.
Why? Well, because it mostly behaves (or at least tries to behave) like a simulator, yet part of the car physics (high tendency to get scooped up when crashed into, prone to skidding, even with FWD and AWD cars) are more arcade like.
@vidmanxo: Sorry for the late reply, I've only just seen your comment! I can't remember which files I edited, sorry, and I don't have Shift installed any more to check. I think it was one of the car specific files, that's as much as I can remember :(
The physics in use in this video are a long way from the original Shift C6, all that is original are the tyres, engine & gearbox. The modified files are lost forever now though I'm afraid, long since deleted from my HDD along with NFS Shift.
How did you hack the steering wheel to turn that far? Is there any way to get the arms to move with it? (it looks even more ridiculous than the wheel not turning far enough)
I have seen gameplay of this game, it is an arcade racer, not as arcade as say burnout or flatout, but certainly not close to a sim. I am watching this video and there are several times you most certainly would have lost grip in a sim racer. If you want to try a sim play something by simbin or LFS, the learning curve is high but worth it.
The only problem I have with the default game is that the cars skid/slide too easily at moderate speeds. The brakes lock a bit too easily as well but I'm sure that's related to the skid/slide issue.

Other than that, the physics are superb.

It's good to see a steering wheel that turns more than few degrees! Keep it up!

I am a bit confused as well with this "game". The looks are great, the sound is great, the feel is good......
Cannot wait to see what Rfactor2 has in store for us. Then I will make up my mind, whether Shift is Sim or Arcade.....
