  • Can anyone tell me what the name of this song is?

  • I actually remember this video back in the day, around the time 'Terrahawks' aired - I think it was on a saturday morning kids show or whatever. Even so, Kate Kestrel means more to me now than I was at 11 or 12 years old - what a honey!!!!!

  • I can imagine Rihanna playing Kate Kestrel in the live action Terrahawks movie. Scary thought. I'd cast Sarah Jessica Parker as Zelda, obviously

  • I vaguely remember this, it feels so weird...

  • #UN#, great work. How did you make this? I showed it to my partner. Thanks. From Thatch Close.

  • Wow. That is the most realistic puppet Gerry Anderson ever created! :)

  • I wonder if they'll ever make a live-action TERRAHAWKS movie, like they did with THUNDERBIRDS. On that note, has anybody ever thought about setting footage from that 2004 film to this song here? That would look neat.

  • Very nice; I'm surprised Princess Stephanie of Monaco hasn't done her own version by now, it'd be nice to hear her sing this. BTW, does anyone out there have Kate Kestrel's "I Won't Let You Hold Me Responsible?" Thank you!

  • I think this clip from The Saturday Show on ITV was possibly the one and only time this video was ever broadcast! I remember watching it at the time, and I later picked up the single in a bargain bin for 50p. Still got it somewhere. Wonder why whoever uploaded it felt the need to burn that horrible "SOS" graphic into the whole thing, though?

  • Had no idea that there was a music video for a song from Terrahawks. Loved the show as a kid in the 80's. Recently fell back in love with it again thanks to the DVD set.

  • I'd save the world just so I could be her hero.

  • thank you youtube for resurrecting yet another suppressed memory

  • Nice Landrover @2:27 :)

    Great catchy tune!

  • Hey puppet, stop playing saxophone before you catch on fire! Catchy song, nonetheless.

  • Here's an interesting question to all fans of Terrahawks.....if a big screen version was attempted, who would you like to see in the roles?

  • they should have put this video on the terrahawks dvd box set..

  • The puppet saxaphone solo just won me over...

  • Kate Kestrel gave me a prepubescent twinge in my yet undeveloped man-handle...

  • @pcvideogamer LOL, pcvideogamer you speak for many male of certain age.

  • Moya Griffiths sang this. You can buy the single on vinyl on ebay!

  • @gl7oaks yeah you're right about that, and, i gotta admit, this song is cool.

  • SOS GIANT FOREHEAD

  • Such a shame they didn';t include this on the TERRAHAWKS complete box set. Would have been a nice little bonus to an already fine bunch of extras!! Great feel good song!! :-)

  • Does any one know where I could find the Terrahawks original soundtrack CD (Apart from e-bay)?

  • The song is very catchy, like most Pop songs of the early to mid 80s.

  • The lyrics are kinda... dark.

  • @Fugutron

Yes, they are. But its also a very catchy, upbeat song. Its a good combination.

  • Looks like Kate Kestral, but the lyrics of the song mention "Mr Tracy" and "International Rescue" which is "THUNDERBIRDS" and not "TERRAHAWKS", so I think the song is well mixed up!!

  • @andrewboyle1 Yeah I know and Terrahawks is apparently set years before Thunderbirds!

  • this is now my no1 song

  • super catchy song

  • This is the most absurd British pile of crap I have ever seen...and I LOVE it!! SOS indeed!!

  • You say this however not only is this typical of the 80's at its best its also not unlike a modern day eurovision contest number from somewhere like sweden!

  • @strikeclone pfft.. This kicks the abomination we entered last night well into touch! No wonder we came last.

  • Shut up this was our best ever music video, and still is.

  • Hey, I LOVE this, but it's still CRAP!! I wish I had a copy of the song! I wish I had that wig! I wish they still made videos as fun and cheesy as this!

  • I think the singer is Moya Griffiths. Does anyone knows where she is? I wonder what she is up to these days.

  • me too.

  • Kate Kestrel was the best future puppet singer ever!!

  • thear are alot of thunderbirds refrences in this:P?

  • @spatchmann

Yep, I always wondered why given there were none in the series itself?

  • I remember this! I only saw this only once and I was about nine at the the time. That was some twenty-five years ago! Wow! How time flies. Boy it awful! I doubt the singer quit her day job when this was recorded...

  • @thecelestialtoymaker

Oh come on, it wasn't THAT bad.

  • my god, i really love this, reminds me of everything of the early to mid 80's. so magical.

  • ONE MAN ALIVE CAN TAKE THIS BEAR!

  • TOMMY BOYD IS A WANKER!!!!!

  • @stuprestonexperience Do you see? That was his catchphrase, and mine on most forums..

  • whoever marked this comment as spam is clearly doing so indiscriminately. Having a 7" of this song is beyond cool.

    BEYOND!

  • I am check on Limewire is not there :-(

  • This is off The Saturday Show - Isla St.Clair & Tommy Boyd. 10th March 1984. I was there with Kagagoogoo. Kate Kestral was there too with Gerry Anderson the Terrahawks, Thunderbirds and Stingray Creator. Makes me feel sooo pot black x

  • 2.06 to 2.08 has to be a seminal moment in 80s video making. It's right up there with Michael Jackson and Duran Duran's efforts of the same decade

  • Love the song. Does anyone have a CD quality MP3 by any chance ?

  • Uploaded. ;)

  • @Perplexer1If you're still after the music it was published on the 'Sleeping with astronauts' CD by the Fanderson group. That was a couple of years ago so don't know if it's still available.

  • more information on this; according to Gerry Anderson's Biography (What made Thunderbirds go, by Simon Archer/Marcus Hearn) the singer was a 19 year old named Moya Griffiths

  • @quillerpen

The singer is Moya Ruskin, a good friend of mine, she and her husband Baz own a piano bar in london opossite high street Kennsington tube staion.

You should drop in, its a good night

  • @4321mikexxxx That would be great. I'd deffo pop in if I didn't live so far north. But if I'm ever in London I''ll be sure to visit! Glad Moya is well . I think this is a great tune! - very catchy and uplifting! A big fan of TERRAHAWKS!! It was religious viewing for me in 1983-4 as a 16 year old - every Sunday afternoon without fail! Send her my best wishes, won't you - and thank her for giving us Kate Kestel 's (SINGING voice. Of course, Anne Ridler provided the regular dialogue) :-)

  • @Perplexer1

It was released on the Fanderson fan clubs specially released Terrhawks CD a few years ago.

  • @StrangerUK01 But did it have Zelda's rap song? I remember that being 100x better than this.

  • I don't think I've ever seen Kate Kestrel's "real" person, what a stunningly beautiful young woman she was!

  • @StrangerUK01 Her name is Moya Griffiths (if she hasn't got married anyway). She was two years above me at school!

  • @Perplexer1 No, because there is no such thing as a CD quality MP3

  • @BillyIsATwat23 Oh fuck you're smart. Moron.

  • @Perplexer1 I'm a moron for pointing out a true fact? Do you even understand how CDs and MP3s work? Obviously not as if you did you would know that a CD quality MP3 encoding is impossible due to the MP3 formats use of psychoacoustic compression methods.

In other words you are hearing the mp3 encoder or player's harmonic reconstruction of a sound recording rather than the "true" sound encoding used by CDs and their players.

  • @BillyIsATwat23 what if the MP3 file was 1411.2kbps

  • @TheHahashishi Such an mp3 file would still be created using standard mp3 encoding protocols and as such would still display different acoustic properties than the same recording played back from a CD.

Also, such an mp3 would take up as much memory as a the same piece saved as in an inherently superior WAV format so why bother saving it as an mp3? (possible obvious answer: your mp3 player won't play back WAV files)

  • I love the 80's, the funnest decade ever!

  • @DanJ30 id do her

  • How many songs contain the words 'if the monsters don't kill, the radiation will'. Love it!

Not a great song, but a good series of it's time. On sunday afternoons, ITV....am I right?

  • sounds like a trip to Chernobyl

  • So Moya Griffiths does stage acting now? Searched for her on the net but apart from this and something called the Vampyr in 1992 it's coming up dry.

    Anyone any info on her?

  • This was actually the first ever single i bought. I was about 8 years old though, so I can get away with that!

  • LMAO!!!!

  • I love this song!

  • Is that Stew Dapples on saxophone?

  • Yep! It sure is, the one & only.

  • This is a great song! I recon this song should be on the show "Dinosaucers".

  • I'd have liked this more if some cunt hadn't superimposed "SOS" over the picture.

I mean, what sort of fucking prick does that?

  • haha - good point!

  • i thought it was quite.....arty.

  • ROFL LOL

  • LOL Anyone else spot Eartha Kitt at 1:23?

  • Very Eurovision esque!!!!

  • Since this video Kate / Moya has starred in major leads in London West End and abroad and can now be spotted at her club in trendy Kensington.

  • "Don't know who the singer was or what her career afterwards. I've heard they don't like to be reminded of these things nowadays."

    Tough. Her name's Moya Griffiths.

  • I luvved kate kestrel when i was all sweet and innocent, but I thought I hallucinated the whole thing! It's understandable, I guess.

  • This song and all of the terrahawks songs and themes are available on a cd album, but it is an exclusive and you can only get it from the fanderson website, and you have to be a member to shop there. Worth thinking about tho isn't it...?

  • Thats not quite correct to say the CD is exclusive to Fanderson, I got the Terrahawks CD soundtrack off E-bay about 2 years ago for a tenner. Then again, you can find just about anything on E-Bay these days if you look hard enough.

  • Actually, not all the songs (the CD only has three of Kate's songs; as mentioned above the masters for the others are lost). But it does have Richard Harvey's theme tune and demos of alternate themes, and six complete episode scores. The synth music dates more than Barry Gray's big orchestral scores, but it's fun.

  • Awsome! I used to wank over zelda.

  • LOL, thats so wrong in many ways lol !!!

    Funny though !!!

  • I know; so wrong yet so right. I'm getting stiff just thinking of the paradox.

  • LOL. Did you imagen her doing all kinds of awful things to ur dick?

  • I keep thinking she's going to sing "Captain Crazy this is your second warning"

  • "Communications breaking down??" She's not kidding! Kate Kestrel was in "Terrahawks", not "Thunderbirds"!!

  • Yeah, but terrahawks and Thunderbirds were part of the same thing so there were always meant to be crossovers between the shows, but I dont think terrahawks lasted long enough to haave any. I loved terrahawks I managed to get the entire series on DVD.

  • Yes and Terrahawks is set before Thunderbirds.

  • Well I never knew that! Thanks.

  • but if terrahawks is set before thunderbirds, then why are they referencing it in the song. I always thought they were set at the same time period.

  • No it is the other way around. Thunderbirds came out in 1966 where Terrahawks started in 1982 the same year Peter Davison became the Doctor!

  • No, Terrahawks was SET in 2020, Thunderbirds was in 2065 (or 2026 in some sources).

  • It's a Gerry Anderson thing.

  • Moya Griffiths was pretty hot.

  • bizarre

  • WTF?!

  • I love this song I just wonder why she's singing about thunderbirds?

  • This was used to promote Terrahawks in 83/84 - Gerry Andersons re-venture into puppet TV - hence the reference to Mr Tracey and International Rescue! Good to see Stu Dapples again (Kate's producer in Terrahawks!)

  • I actually quite like this song in spite of myself. It has a rather ABBA-esque feel to it. Ooo and "The Saturday Show", I haven't thought of that show for years!

  • this is so lame its brilliant!!!

  • used to get an occassional boner watching miss kestrel back in the day... I was a kid right!!!

  • miss kestrel .........i love ya.. thanks

  • You have to laugh...

Lets see - you are a secret member of a small, elite force charged with defending the Earth from alien invaders. Most of the world is oblivious to its existence and even your address is top secret. In your spare time you pursue a career as an international pop idol and go under the name 'Kate Kestrel'. This is called keeping a low profile:D

  • Sounds alot like many modern animes and japanese sentai productions . Remember Terrahawks was anderson's stab at japanese mannerisms in their typical shows of the time

  • @ChrisJMoor

Hey, they do it right now but call themselves 'celebrity's' and become Reps for the UN and other do-gooder NGO's :D

  • The Singer shown here is Moya Griffiths, who used to do Kate's singing voice on Terrahawks. She was 19 years old back then. My mom and I are watching this now, and we love this. This song was one of our favorites.

  • I`ve got the 7inch single somewhere

  • Ermmm, I'm not being racist but i think its a bit silly to have a black singer representing the character, when the character was white.

  • Actully the character of Kate Kestrel was black. So I'm not sure what show you've been watching

  • owned !!!

  • Great tune.I like Kate Kestrels songs.Shame an album was never been produced.

  • Quintessential Terrahawks image at 01:06.

  • God it was just a brilliant era to be a kid in - one day time travel will happen and we shall all return.

  • Oh no they didn't..... BTW what is Kates real hair colour? LOL, theres a puppet playing sax in amidst of a burning fire (1:45) - time to take some drugs methinks...

  • Where can I get the lyrics...my friend wants to sing it for a talent contest

  • Tell your friend that we, at YouTube, wishes him or her GOOD LUCK! (If we find the lyrics...)

  • Terrible cheesy music video, but was good song!

  • Who the hell is Mr Tracey?

  • Mr Jeff Tracey of International Rescue, the thunderbirds.

  • I got this on record from Ebay its classic.

  • I watched Terrahawks when I was a kid, I had a feeling this song was a single. Brilliant

  • I can't believe what i'm watching. I never knew she actually shot a music video.

  • lots of lovely fairlight sampling of sounds too...

  • Yeah, Moya Griffiths WAS Kate Kestrel in the show or vice versa, the puppet was based on her as she narrated the character and sang the songs.

Stu Dapples played a mean sax too lol

  • Moya Griffiths was only the singing voice, Kate Kestrel was voiced by Anne Ridler.

There were quite a few more songs but I believe the original recordings have been lost (only about two or three survive).

  • Ahaha. Classic! I have no recollection of this at all! And if its a Terrahawks tie-in why the hell are the lyrics about Mr Tracey and International Rescue from Thunderbirds fame??

  • does the guy on sax know he's on fire..whats worse is that he's a PUPPET !! LOL

    FANTASTIC VID AND SONG

BRINGIN BACK THE 80'S TO THE NEW GENERATION HASSLEHOFF STYLE :)

  • Cool Video! i saw The Show once on the Sci-Fi Channel!

this is Too Cool! Hope Someone can Tell me if there's Any way to find a Soundtrack CD!

    Stay Cool! fightboss Out!

  • What the hell?!? I remember the whole Kate Kestrel being a popstar thing, but have no memory of this!!

  • Awesome song and video. It would make a good fighter plane squadron theme as the beat is so cool!

  • So bad it's great! Thanks for posting.

  • Which one was the puppet?

I think it must have been some kind of law in the 80s that every pop song had to feature a tasteful sax solo in the middle. Bring them back, I say!

  • Super 80's Flashback! Shame about the SOS on the screen, would've been nice to get a better look at the gorgeous singer!!

  • bring back Moya Griffiths !!!! Why dont we have singers like that anymore!? i swear there were more songs by her on the programme though....

  • A classic..windsor davies is THE MAN

  • I remember this song from an episode of Terrahawks, and remember it was released as a single. However I don't ever recall seeing this video and don't believe the song actually made the UK charts.

  • pure heaven to hear this song after so long it was great then and now its just wonderful all i can say is thank you to the person for posting this

  • Terrahawks - best Gerry Anderson series by a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way, baby!

  • Aaaah! Nooo! Avert your eyes! The 80's are back and craving vengence! Also, what kind of horrid, twisted band would hire a puppet as a member?

  • Wierd - A Terrahawks character singing about Thunderbirds... catchy though!

  • i just bought the entire collectors edition dvd box set of terrahawks. its so fantastic i didnt realise there were so many episodes that I didnt see

  • Thankyou so much for posting this! This makes me feel so old!!! Great to see it again! The singers name is MOYA GRIFFITHS by the way! Somewhere amongst over 300 video tapes, I do actually have this video without the awful SOS scrawl centrescreen - If I ever get the chance, I will upload it!

  • If you get a chance to up load this with out that awful sos scrawl any chance I could get a copy

  • this song was 80's in terrahawks theme

  • Fabulous. I loved this track back when It was first on terrahawks. Horray, Thanks soooooo much for posting it

  • I remember this video!! Surprisingly good song. One of my childhood tv favourites.

  • Better than the crap we get nowerdays

  • Not heard this since 1985!!

  • great stuff...

    very hinrg...

  • Surprisingly funky stuff, and this girl looks hot in the pink wig!

  • Absolutely terrific!

  • Absolutely terrible!

  • Fantastic thanks for posting - waiting years for this :)

  • The other song I remember is along the lines of "I don't want your cadilac..."

  • the girl posing as kate kestrel is called Moya Griffiths.

  • Decent song, interesting curiosity of the time, but what's with the static lettering over the top? It looks like it wasn't part of the original broadcast, so why someone slapped it on, I don't know.

  • I wanted to put a little tag on it but was new to it so ended up with that static lettering you see.
