I actually remember this video back in the day, around the time 'Terrahawks' aired - I think it was on a saturday morning kids show or whatever. Even so, Kate Kestrel means more to me now than I was at 11 or 12 years old - what a honey!!!!!
I wonder if they'll ever make a live-action TERRAHAWKS movie, like they did with THUNDERBIRDS. On that note, has anybody ever thought about setting footage from that 2004 film to this song here? That would look neat.
Very nice; I'm surprised Princess Stephanie of Monaco hasn't done her own version by now, it'd be nice to hear her sing this. BTW, does anyone out there have Kate Kestrel's "I Won't Let You Hold Me Responsible?" Thank you!
I think this clip from The Saturday Show on ITV was possibly the one and only time this video was ever broadcast! I remember watching it at the time, and I later picked up the single in a bargain bin for 50p. Still got it somewhere. Wonder why whoever uploaded it felt the need to burn that horrible "SOS" graphic into the whole thing, though?
Had no idea that there was a music video for a song from Terrahawks. Loved the show as a kid in the 80's. Recently fell back in love with it again thanks to the DVD set.
Such a shame they didn';t include this on the TERRAHAWKS complete box set. Would have been a nice little bonus to an already fine bunch of extras!! Great feel good song!! :-)
Looks like Kate Kestral, but the lyrics of the song mention "Mr Tracy" and "International Rescue" which is "THUNDERBIRDS" and not "TERRAHAWKS", so I think the song is well mixed up!!
You say this however not only is this typical of the 80's at its best its also not unlike a modern day eurovision contest number from somewhere like sweden!
Hey, I LOVE this, but it's still CRAP!! I wish I had a copy of the song! I wish I had that wig! I wish they still made videos as fun and cheesy as this!
I remember this! I only saw this only once and I was about nine at the the time. That was some twenty-five years ago! Wow! How time flies. Boy it awful! I doubt the singer quit her day job when this was recorded...
This is off The Saturday Show - Isla St.Clair & Tommy Boyd. 10th March 1984. I was there with Kagagoogoo. Kate Kestral was there too with Gerry Anderson the Terrahawks, Thunderbirds and Stingray Creator. Makes me feel sooo pot black x
@Perplexer1If you're still after the music it was published on the 'Sleeping with astronauts' CD by the Fanderson group. That was a couple of years ago so don't know if it's still available.
more information on this; according to Gerry Anderson's Biography (What made Thunderbirds go, by Simon Archer/Marcus Hearn) the singer was a 19 year old named Moya Griffiths
@4321mikexxxx That would be great. I'd deffo pop in if I didn't live so far north. But if I'm ever in London I''ll be sure to visit! Glad Moya is well . I think this is a great tune! - very catchy and uplifting! A big fan of TERRAHAWKS!! It was religious viewing for me in 1983-4 as a 16 year old - every Sunday afternoon without fail! Send her my best wishes, won't you - and thank her for giving us Kate Kestel 's (SINGING voice. Of course, Anne Ridler provided the regular dialogue) :-)
@Perplexer1 I'm a moron for pointing out a true fact? Do you even understand how CDs and MP3s work? Obviously not as if you did you would know that a CD quality MP3 encoding is impossible due to the MP3 formats use of psychoacoustic compression methods.
In other words you are hearing the mp3 encoder or player's harmonic reconstruction of a sound recording rather than the "true" sound encoding used by CDs and their players.
@TheHahashishi Such an mp3 file would still be created using standard mp3 encoding protocols and as such would still display different acoustic properties than the same recording played back from a CD.
Also, such an mp3 would take up as much memory as a the same piece saved as in an inherently superior WAV format so why bother saving it as an mp3? (possible obvious answer: your mp3 player won't play back WAV files)
This song and all of the terrahawks songs and themes are available on a cd album, but it is an exclusive and you can only get it from the fanderson website, and you have to be a member to shop there. Worth thinking about tho isn't it...?
Thats not quite correct to say the CD is exclusive to Fanderson, I got the Terrahawks CD soundtrack off E-bay about 2 years ago for a tenner. Then again, you can find just about anything on E-Bay these days if you look hard enough.
Actually, not all the songs (the CD only has three of Kate's songs; as mentioned above the masters for the others are lost). But it does have Richard Harvey's theme tune and demos of alternate themes, and six complete episode scores. The synth music dates more than Barry Gray's big orchestral scores, but it's fun.
Yeah, but terrahawks and Thunderbirds were part of the same thing so there were always meant to be crossovers between the shows, but I dont think terrahawks lasted long enough to haave any. I loved terrahawks I managed to get the entire series on DVD.
This was used to promote Terrahawks in 83/84 - Gerry Andersons re-venture into puppet TV - hence the reference to Mr Tracey and International Rescue! Good to see Stu Dapples again (Kate's producer in Terrahawks!)
I actually quite like this song in spite of myself. It has a rather ABBA-esque feel to it. Ooo and "The Saturday Show", I haven't thought of that show for years!
Lets see - you are a secret member of a small, elite force charged with defending the Earth from alien invaders. Most of the world is oblivious to its existence and even your address is top secret. In your spare time you pursue a career as an international pop idol and go under the name 'Kate Kestrel'. This is called keeping a low profile:D
Sounds alot like many modern animes and japanese sentai productions . Remember Terrahawks was anderson's stab at japanese mannerisms in their typical shows of the time
The Singer shown here is Moya Griffiths, who used to do Kate's singing voice on Terrahawks. She was 19 years old back then. My mom and I are watching this now, and we love this. This song was one of our favorites.
Oh no they didn't..... BTW what is Kates real hair colour? LOL, theres a puppet playing sax in amidst of a burning fire (1:45) - time to take some drugs methinks...
Ahaha. Classic! I have no recollection of this at all! And if its a Terrahawks tie-in why the hell are the lyrics about Mr Tracey and International Rescue from Thunderbirds fame??
I remember this song from an episode of Terrahawks, and remember it was released as a single. However I don't ever recall seeing this video and don't believe the song actually made the UK charts.

I wanted to put a little tag on it but was new to it so ended up with that static lettering you see.
