More of a very strong love for one another. I think he and Hephaistion shared a different kind of love. Alexander did say you can love in many different ways.

I just discovered Stone's FINAL UINRATED DIRECTOR'S CUT of this movie, which is 3 hours 34 minutes long and has every scene ever shot, fifty minutes longer than the dreadful theatrical release. Thank you, Mr. Stone! It now stands revealed as a great movie.
What a shame that Stone didn't have the guts to include the most touching and intimate scenes between Alexander and Hephastion, selling out to the sensibilities of a homophobic and intolerant majority. He did the same thing in his JFK, but at least gave us a "Director's Cut" of that movie.

I adore this movie. It's probably one of my favorites. I love historical films. Perhaps I should try method acting. Jared is an ideal specimen. I want him. :D His accent is delightful. Oliver is a demanding director. I would probably crack under the pressure.

he's a method actor, so he becomes the character. this would mean that in doing this scene, he pretty much would have felt as if he were dying himself and so the coughing is probably how he reacts to it. in performing for this scene he made himself sick. just goes to show how dedicated he is...

Alexander Revisited is the longer version of the film which is 284 minutes, without any editing done.
But the Alexander the movie- which was shown in the movie theatre was cut down to 154 minutes. So a lot of portions are missing in that film.
So if you want to see the entire film please borrow the DVD of Alexander Revisited.

I think that you are talking about the DVD- Alexander Revisited- The Final Cut . That DVD was 284 minutes long.

Well, actually, the greece (and the macedonian) mentality is pretty complicated. Because they had different feelings and their definition of love is really really strange for us. Alexander and Hephaistion are best friend and lovers at the same time, because friendship implicated love and sex too, even between men. *I know, my English is really bad, I hope you can understand what I've tried to say anyway ^__^*

No it's because historians disagree on whether or not Alexander and Hephaistian were actually lovers. There is no proof either way. That is why he was making it ambiguous.

he's a method actor, so he becomes the character. this would mean that in doing this scene, he pretty much would have felt as if he were dying himself and so the coughing is probably how he reacts to it. in performing for this scene he made himself sick. just goes to show how dedicated he is...

i'm not sure about the full reason why it was an irish accent...i may have read somewhere that those are the kind of accents alexander's people would have had, or it was just a mistake in the movie, i'm just not sure...

i think the scene was so overwhelming for him that that's how he reacted. he's a method actor, so to him it was as if he was really dying. i'm just hoping he didn't throw up there...:(just watching how much pain is in jared's face for this scene makes me tear up.
