The biggest reason why they do kill the seals is because there are not enough predators for the seals, they then grow to absurd numbers and kill off the population of fish. People kill the seals for food/population control.
Also, the reason why they mostly use bludgeons is because it would cost WAY too much to use a gun, and it kills them just as fast.

Our cod stocks have been disastrously low in the past two decades, and one reason for that is that seals eat cod fish. A lot of cod fish. The cod fishery was once a huge industry in Newfoundland, and is now ruined. We've done plenty of things to try and regenerate the cod fishery and the millions it generates, and one such thing is controlling the seal population.

The video title is misleading. McCartney wasn't there to try and "save the seals" from the clubbers. Alright, everyone that thinks this is sick need to rethink why they think it! The biggest reason why they do kill the seals is because there are not enough predators for the seals, they then grow to absurd numbers and kill off the population of fish. People kill the seals for food/population control.
Also, the reason why they mostly use bludgeons is because it would cost WAY too much to use a gun, and it kills them just as fast.

Our cod stocks have been disastrously low in the past two decades, and one reason for that is that seals eat cod fish. A lot of cod fish. The cod fishery was once a huge industry in Newfoundland, and is now ruined. We've done plenty of things to try and regenerate the cod fishery and the millions it generates, and one such thing is controlling the seal population.

ppl are too easily swayed by pics of cute white coats.and a sad song in the bachground.like for real.nothing that gets killed is pretty, whether its livestock for food or the seals for other uses.and the pristine white snow and ice makes it seem much worse.look at a spill of blood on grass then on snow.no duh it looks worse on the white background its misleading.The only difference in the seal hunt and slaughter houses is the seal hunt is outside where the cameras can see it and make it look bad

The video title is misleading. McCartney wasn't there to try and "save the seals" from the clubbers. In fact he was surrounded by seals out there on the ice and he never bothered to save even one of them. He just left them there, got on his plane and fucked off as soon as the cameras were shut off. McCartney was there for one reason only and it's because the one-legged, mentally derranged gold digging whore he was banging at the time made him go there. It had nothing to do with "saving seals".

Anyway, our 2 bullet points wouldn't change:seal market doesn't make a heartbeat and needs subsidies to survive, and there's no evidence there are too many seals, to justify the savage slaughter of seals you're doin' out there.

what a controversial topic, I'm Canadian however I don't know anyone that hunts seals. I DO know that our over population in seals drastically effects our fishing industry. Seals are known to find their way into salmon sites and other fishing devices. Are some particular Canadians going about the hunt in "in-humane" ways? Perhaps..
