  • Ive chucked 2 daddy long legs in the tank with my mantis and he doesnt seem interested in them at all, one even walked over him and he didnt seem to care. he hasnt eaten anything since i got him a few days ago so im not sure if maybe hes about to molt or if somethings wrong with him, if he does im worried the spiders could kill him while hes molting

  • @Madkent94 Hey My mantis is doing the same as yours. I put a cricket in there and it started messing with him. He/she is not interested at all in any food. Should I leave a daddy long legs in there with him? or just leave him alone?

  • @Chronix74 Well i left for the weekend and came back and found my mantis shed its skin and grew about twice as big as it was before and even grew wings, but yeah after the molt he was heaps active and now eats anything he sees so it might be ready to molt

  • @Madkent94 Hey, thanks for the reply!

  • the mantis is eating ass!!!!!!

  • i want one

  • Hmmm Ill set up a trap near my window to stop all of them getting to my bed. See how they like the traps. WHOS WINNING NOW?!? >:D

  • Lol I had a preying mat is once........I was 8 I killed it by giving it lettuce

  • @ 0:20 YOINK

  • doesnt always work

  • eating legs doesn't fill me

  • u got a skinny mantis

  • OM NOM NOM

Make sure the legs don't stick in ya throat mate. :D

  • go spinark

    skyther use bite

    not very effective

    spinark fainted

you ran out of pokemon black out

  • i had a daddy long-legs in my living room one time, it flew into the light and some dust, a couple legs and the remains of a wing came floating down :(

  • @Paterson212 it was a crane fly btw its just that i call them daddy long legs

  • I have heard...those Daddy-long-leg spider things can take out acually some prettty nasty things and with a wide range of things to eat at that. Too bad, the D.L.L. lost out to the mantis.

  • Lol, them mantises is crazy.

  • I'm surprised he was even able to catch it, I thought it would've been all

"GOTCHA BITCH-" *legs fall off "FFFFFFFFFFFFF-"

  • one time a huge daddy long leg crawled in my hair!! it freaked me out. now im scared of them.

  • These "daddy-longlegs" spiders are actually called Pholcids. They prey mainly on black widows and their relatives. You want these spiders in your home. They eat the scarier ones. =) (plus their harmless and only a pussy is scared of these)

  • @mmmmmarcus So theres no danger in putting one of these with your mantis cause i got a little 2 1/2 inch guy and so far daddy long legs and him just ignore eachother but i was worried they might be able to hurt him.

  • @MrPitseleh Don't place pholcids with mantids. Pholcids look delicate, but they are capable of tackling big prey. Your mantis is in danger with that thing nearby.

  • That's disturbing

  • Dont worry soon enough he'lll escape his cage and put your dick in a choke hold.

  • It's true, CELLAR daddy long legs are not very poisonous yet their fangs are long enough to penetrate the human skin. Other types of daddy long legs (not including CELLAR) ARE poisonous and can actually kill you in under 3 minutes. Before ppl go off and listen to everything they hear off of TV, they need to do a little research. The Mythbusters tested the CELLAR spiders ONLY. They did not test the other types of daddy long legs.

  • @4x4forlyfe are you stupid? theres only 3 things in the world called daddy long legs. Harvestmen which are harmless. they have no fangs no poison and they feed on dead leaves. theres the Cellar Spider which are mildly poisonous and are the ones who started the whole myth becuase Cellar spiders kill things like black widows and brown recluse. Then in the UK mosquito hawks are referred to as daddy long legs....that is all.....

  • @4x4forlyfe Well lets just see what else could be considered a "daddy-longlegs" We have... Scorpionflies-- often called daddy-longlegs, non venomous. harvestment-- Also called daddy-longlegs. Not spiders, nonvenomous. Crane flies--- Also called daddy-longlegs.. Obviously harmless. In fact would you care to show us a spider called daddy-longlegs that IS dangerous? Your claims are nothing more than sensationalism.

  • @4x4forlyfe you are full of shit, do some research yourself.

  • doubt that mantis survived long in your juice pitcher very long

  • rip spider

  • wrong. they are barely venemous.

  • @foshooooooo acually they are one of the most venomis spiders in the world but there legs are to long so they cant bite a human only small insects

  • that is a stupid rumor that has been going around for a long time. look it up, their venom is almost completely harmless to us.

  • What does their legs have to do with their potential to bite.. you are thinking their fangs arent long enough to penetrate human skin? well mythbusters proved that wrong by artificially extracting daddy long leg venom and testing it on rats against black widow venom. the Black widow venom was MUCH stronger. Proving that myth incorrect.

  • @Chrisfragger oh ok

  • @22bearsfan - uhhh nah ur dumb lol! their poison (its only called venom if it can kill u) is as strong as a wolf spiders. which isnt shit my man/women. idk, but u should probly flip discovery on every so often. They clear dumb shit myth up for people perfectly.... a dumb shit myth u beleive in and support lol. blasfomy.

  • @foshooooooo WRONG! theyre The most venomous spider in the world but not the most dangerous due to their amazingly small fangs

  • @soliliquy

NO, you fucking dumbass. look it up. Their venom can cause, at most, slight irritation to humans. Jesus, you people are stupid

  • @soliliquy -hahahahahh WRONG

  • lol that mantis had the long leg's head in a fucking nut cracker,

  • I found a dead daddy long legs on the back of my under wear in the laundry room....i didnt want to wear them because of that but i didnt have any other clean pairs so i said screw it and got the thing off and im wearing them now.

  • kill kill!! eat eat GROW GROWW!!!!! conqure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH RULEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • daddy long legs is a spider

  • @ehdie1 we know that hey everyone

  • no daddy long legs' only have 6 legs

  • Praying mantis can also eat small rodents and birds. Such as humming birds. If they were to get as large as us. They would prybably try to prey on us too.

  • Nomnomnom

  • @YousefsPie whats that meen

  • daddy long legs are arachnids, but they aren't spiders. the tale about them being extremely poisonous, but unable to penetrate human skin, is just that. It isn't true.

  • @howlingbulldog they dont have poisen and your right about that but they can bite ive been bitten by one and it was 100% a daddy long legs

  • @howlingbulldog actually there are actually three species of daddy long legs 1 is a true spider, 1 is an arachnid but not a true spider and 1 is an insect and are even slightly related to spiders

  • CannonBolt - not possible. If they are three species of the same creature, they would have to all be arachnids or not arachnids. Otherwise they can't be the same species. taxonomy 101.

  • no i meant that there were three creatures that are commonly referred to as a daddy-long legs: Cellar spider which is of coarse a spider, the Harvestman which is an arachnid but not a spider and the Crane fly which is an insect.

  • nice

  • shut up.

  • NIice even a baby mantis can kick ass!!

  • i need to get me a mantis to stop these dam things infiltrating my room >:(

  • aww there quite harmless :) and they eat the insects in your room but if they get too large they seem scary :O

  • @DjTexasMassacre Only Issue i see is that, what if he escapes? what if you look like food, and he eats u up too? one minute your in bad the next your arms are gone xD lol.

  • @DjTexasMassacre i have a couple of them i love them soooo much

  • @DjTexasMassacre i have a couple of them i love them soooo much.

  • you can eat daddy long legs

  • yeah but they have venom if i remember, and it can kill, their fangs however cant pirce human skin

  • this is the way life works, things have to die in order for others to live, it would have happened naturally anyway, plus there are hundreds more still alive

  • You sick bastard.

    Animal Welfare 4 eva!!!

    Save the animals!!

  • This are INSECTS.

  • i know, im kidding. My friend uploaded this vid.

  • ohhh sory.

  • Ok so let one of the most inteligent insects in the world die of starvation. besides these are insects, they're a little different... Fucking hippie.

  • poor daddy long legs!!!

  • agreed

  • i no, i like spiders

  • wtf? animal welfare? it's fucking bugs, there's like a million of them, especially daddy long legs, you wanna bitch about that go to an elephant poaching video or somthing, not "bug gladiators,"

    ass hole you ruined it,

  • Hahaha, read completely before commenting.

  • read what completely? if that spider killed another bug everybody would bitch about it, everybody just loves the weak and helpless, don't they?

  • lol.... i know right? some people are stupid. But you might think im stupid for even saying this: i really do feel bad for this mantis, I hate seeing amazing creatures like this living in some old used fucking 2L pepsi bottle in some nerds room just for the sake of amusing him.

  • Comment removed

  • wot type of mantis is that green one

  • wrong they are NOT very venomous. their venom is pretty weak to insects and pretty much worthless on humans.

  • brrrrrrrrrrrrrr...........

  • YOU IN MY HOUSE BITCH, MY HOUSE!!!!

  • lol

  • no there fangs can go through human skin there poisen isnt deadly at all its more to paralyze vitctems its size

  • daddy long legs are acturally the most dangerus spiders due to all bugs but not to humans cos their fangs are like feather soft to penerate through human skin...known as a fact

  • Incorrect, they are the most dangerous yes but they're mouths are too small to bite a human, think of it like you trying to bite a basketball.

  • Comment removed

  • Then why would you say its "know as a fact" ???

  • Comment removed

  • people like you, yes =/

  • acturally i though about it ok. think of it as u are trying to bite a baseball. U can but u cant do damage. snice u said they're mouths are too small to bite humans...they still can bite but cant hurt u. why cos they're fangs are too small to penertrate through human skin.

  • This is a common misconception. However, it is only an urban myth and is most definately not true.

  • dady long legs are actually very poisonous, but snce they are so small they poison cant affect humans

  • a daddy long legs came down on its web on my desk during school today and are they poisoinus?

  • yayyy go mantis! i hate spiders !!

  • ok pal i appreciate the fact that you can actually make a dialogue with sb you don't know ....

but in i fact i don't give a shit cause the way sb talks is the way he thinks and acts...so i feel sorry for you

  • if the mantis was trapped in the web of this phocidae spider it woud not had a chance to survive. the spider was captivated with mantis the rest is as the video tells. The most venomous spiders in the world is the phoneutria nigriventer / fera and the atrax robustus (sydney funnel web) They are very agressive if provoked (not that it will chase you) Black widow and recluses are not to be feared that much if compared to the ones mentioned

  • Praying Mantids are capable of killing black widows, I know, Ive seen the video, so you can shut up.

  • you are correct cos i've seen many videos of mantis killing black widows too

  • He's right. Mantis can own black widows but if the mantis is in the black widows web, the mantis doesn't stand a chance.

Remember, both widows and mantises are born killers. But they need to be in their habitat to own. Mantises habitat is in the trees where they look like twigs or leaves. Widows have to be in their web where they would wait for the mantis to tire before delivering the fatal bite.

  • powned

  • it would of been dead if it was a daddy longlegs

its the most poisonous creature on the planet if you bite directly into it your fate is sealed within a couple of seconds

  • females are poison......

  • Yeah that seriously bullshit we have daddy long legs in my garage and sometimes my cat eats them females or males

  • bullshit , my cat eats them all the time

  • Myth. Definitely not true. In lab tests, the daddy lonleg spider was:

    A) Tested for toxicity of his venom. It was clearly indicated through mice that a black widow venom is considerably more toxic and damaging than the very mild venom of a daddy lonlegs. As we all know, black widow's are not even considered comparable in lethality to an Australian Funnel-web, or a Brazilian Wandering Spider.

    B) Able to penetrate human skin with minimal effort.

  • its a cellar spider not daddy longlegs

  • I'm surprised there hasn't been a gay guy fucking squirming about with cum coming out of his ass whining about how cruel it is to feed a spider to a mantis.

  • are aussie white tip-white widow is not a friggin daddy longlegs 0__0

  • big tough guy for 15 aren't you little bitch?

  • Lol I knew one would show

  • Ah...Mr Bond i've been expecting you etc etc. Actually i've no problems feeding spazzwit crickets to a mantis and watching The Merciless Beast of Death devour them alive. But spiders are cool. I have a trapdoor.

  • Sweet, how old?

  • Oh God man... the bugger's driving me mental with boredom! Two weeks and the creep still hasn't burrowed. There's a guy from California who'll help me out.

  • mantis ftw.. i saw a daddy long legs the size of my hand yesterday and i nearly shit -_-

  • I love Praying Mantids. I used to have a chinese one which ate EVERYTHING I put in with it and even raw liver and steak. I'm thinking of buying another from the pet shop and letting it loose on the daddy long legs and house spiders I have. Only problem is they find it hard to survive the English winter.

  • Heh, I want to get a mantis myself in the near future, though is it definitely safe to feed them stuff like steak? The idea does appeal though.

  • Once there was no crickets in the pet shop and nothing in the garden so I feed her raw steak on the end of a cocktail stick and she seemed to like it. They are clean, interesting pets and they kill spiders if you let it roam : ) It's best to buy a small heat mat for the winter to put under the tank its in.

  • OH ok thanks alot.

  • i thought daddy long legs were the most poisonous spiders

  • Nope.

  • its a myth, there venom is actually so weak it cant even kill a good size fly, only parilize it

  • then i cant believe these weak spiders prey on other spiders, even black widow. i'd like to see how they can catch other spider.

  • im talking to teddysim78, i'm pretty sure they are the most poisonus spiders, although the reason they dont kill anything is because they have extrememly tiny fangs, and they cant peirce animal/human skin, and also everyone who said that the venom is too week, i'm pretty sure that is true as well

  • No, that's just a myth.

    Look it up anywhere.

    :]

  • ok i have just been proven wrong, too lazy to look it up tho lol so i'll take your word for it

  • that daddy-long legs didn't even stand a chance!!!oh,btw, daddy-long legs don't even make webs..

  • Just asking, can a praying mantis harm a person in anyway, liek biting, i dont think so but alot of people say they can, wich i dont beleive.

  • dats 1 big ass daddy long butt

  • i need praying mantis's in my house to kill all the centipedes and spiders...

  • praying mantis stands no chance against a good sized centipede

  • well if a daddy is not on their web (natural envirnment) its difficult for them to walk cause their legs are to big and they can't see. So they are an easy meal from their predators. If they are on their nests mantis would have no chance to survive...but i guess this is nature...your death its my life..i hope men won't be that cynical but unfortunately we are even far more worse than that

  • That is a harvestmen, it does not make webs, and isn't even a spider to top that off. Good call! The rest of the philosophical crap you spewed has loads of merit.

  • that wasnt a harvestman you twit.... that is a daddy longlegs (pholcus phalangoides)..... and it is a spider. it makes web, so you shouldnt criticize other people when you dont know anything about what was he toking bout'!

  • harvestmen only have 1 main segment or wateva daddy has 2

  • that is a spider and not a harvestmen -_-

  • that is a long legged basement spider i find those in are basement a lot.

daddy long legs have a little circle body that isnt long

  • ya i hate those =Þ they stick when u squash them lol

  • man that wasn't even a contest that Mantis straight up jumped that motherfucker.

  • LOL its just sitting there eating it

  • thats not a daddy long leg :|

  • exactly. thats a long legged house spider.

  • No it isn't. House spiders have thicker legs and are black or brown. That's a daddy long legs spider.

  • preying mantis kicks ass that's why they're my favorite fucking bug, !@#$%^&*!!!!

  • mantis' are like then ninjas of the insect world so dont fuck with the mantis

  • i don't think that's a "daddy long legs" (harvestman). more like a really big cellar spider, but i'm not sure.

  • i like when the mantis take a little break. Looks like almost full

  • Daddy long legs have deadly poison inside of them i think. i hope the mantis is okay.

  • Go Manty GO!!!

  • thats awesome!!! The mantis gets so excited when the daddy long legs is dropped in!

  • Thanks a bunch. Poisonous or not, I despise daddy long-legs. :O

  • me to they r soooo gros

    to many legs

    6 is my limit

  • @ComputerKing5000 thats racist. =O seriously. lol!

  • Mantice= owned, pwned, destroyer of all. once in its claws like Sakura says nothing can live unless if its a human or dog, cat, maybe frog, tiger, lion, bird, or anything thats really huge

  • Did you buy or praying mantis or catch him? I'm looking for a good site that sells them.

  • Thats great, praying(preying?) mantids get no respect because they dont look as frightening as spiders. BTW daddy long legs have no poison at all, it is simply an urban legend. They can bite humans, its just rare, because new age spiders and most other arachnids bite sideways, which is like a human biting a beach ball for one to bite your pinky. man that was a long and smart ass coment....

  • Preying Mantids pretty much own everything they can grab!!

  • GODDAMN MANTIS OWNZZ

  • DAMN!

  • Man once in those claws nothing lives.

  • that looks like a spider...

  • lol y was he eatin his ass lol

  • Yeah, and it is said that mantids start from the top, not from the end, hehehe.

  • Probly didn't want to chance the venom or couldn't tell the difference^^

  • Amazing catch.

  • prety cool man make more tell me
