My family is Scots-Irish Southerners. My dad bought this album in 1974, and we listened to it all the time, along with the Everly Brothers, Elvis (of course!), Beatles, Carpenters, Willie, Hank, Patsy Cline, etc.
Freddy Fender is a Saint, and his music touched our lives--I don't care what he spoke. He was and always will be an important part of American Country/Western/Folk/Tex-Mex music.
@clyde21641- But yes, born of Mexican parents to go on and serve in the Marines to then become one of the greatest artists of his time, he was a great Mexican-American!
@clyde21641- Don't project your feelings at me! My message was clear and straight to the point. The only one throwing words like 'curse' and 'offended' here is you. I merely was bringing up the fact that there's a difference between race and nationality.
What difference does it make, Mexican or Gringo, we are all Gods Children. This is one gringo that loved his talent and I hope to meet him someday in heaven.
@clyde21641 Its sad the racism i have found here,....because he speaks spanish he's mexican,..not! I knew a beautiful mexican american lady from abiquiu, new mexico, she spoke fluent english and spanish as most new mexicans do, descendants of pueblo tribes converted to christianity and taught spanish. We are all one, totally agree with ya good man! =)
este pinche lavaplatos se parece a ron jeremy hahaha cree que proque sus papas eran unos putos espaldas mojadas puede cantar musica mexicana esta pendejo puto esclavo de los gringos XD
@salonvictoria- Freddy Fender was 100% American. He was born in America, and served in the Marines. Just because somebody speaks Spanish doesn't make them Mexican.
@diegoolivarez1 haha you sir are an idiot. His parents are MEXICAN which makes him a chicano he is MEXICAN-AMERICAN. He is obviously proud of his heritage.
@Oaxaquita1000 His parents may have been Mexican, that doesn't change the fact that he was born in America and served HIS country in the Marines. Did you not realize that American is a nationality, not a race? It's funny how somebody so mentally deficient can question intelligence, LOL!
@diegoolivarez1 He had a great talent and whats wrong with being a Mexican !!!!! He was even if he was borned here, Mexican is only a Nationality not a curse, Most Mexican friends I have are proud of their heritage and not offended by the word Mexican as you seem to be. . In fact I have some in my family and whats wrong with that? I was raised in South Texas and Pecos Tex , I am very familar with the Mexican people and speak Spanish pretty well, so maybe I Know something.

Rotterdam Country Festival ......When?????? (Överförd av coockiestv den 13 dec 2007)
He died October 14, 2006 :)))))))))
Freddy Fender (June 4, 1937 – October 14, 2006), born Baldemar Garza Huerta in San Benito, Texas, United States, was a Mexican-American Tejano, country and rock and roll musician, known for his work as a solo artist and in the groups Los Super Seven and the Texas Tornados.
@msntillmig What?!!! Freddy Fender has died, October 14, 2006, that was 5 years ago, where in his native Tejas?Well, now he's playin' his BEAUTIFUL MUSIC for the Big JC!!! = )
Freddy Fender(Baldemar Garza Huerta) rest in peace.
When I was stationed in Germany, I went to some festival in Munster, Germany and heard this song at a bar. I think its funny how Tejano was influenced by German "folk"? music. Pretty cool pretty cool.
When I listen to Freddy I start craving a "Cruz Blanca" beer !!! And REAL Mexican food. I was there when he first got started and was taking a lot of ribbing from the rest of the country crowd. They were teasing him about his name. That is why he took the stage name . NO body though a bunch of red necks would listen to his music with a Mexican name. Little did they know how GOOD he was.
@1212 magic man, WTF, this is traditional, it sure as He__ not just a song of your "boy" Negrete ! You like him , fine, but dont dis FF, My abuleitos were singing this song almost 100 years ago.
All his songs remind me of days long past when living with family in Spanish Bay, Puunene, Maui in the 1970's! Freddy Fender you are still a hit here in Hawaii!
@Annie293 NEVER SAY THAT AGAIN! This is guy sucks ass. This is Jorge Negrete's song. The most famous, and idolized singer in Mexico. Don't ever disrespect him again.
@1212MagicMan Lol sorry ... I don't disrespect Jorge Negrete ... I don't even know the guy. How can I disrespect someone I don't know. Sorry if I hurt your feelings.
Had the pleasure of seeing Freddy 6 times in Colorado, once on my birthday and he squeezed my hand when he left the stage that nite. My ex also asked someone if they would sign the picture on the program and everyone in their dressing room at that time did for him. My father-in-law loved El Rancho Grande and whenever I hear it, especially by Freddy, it brings back lots of wonderful memories. Thank you for this "double-good" video!
Two of Freddy's greatest. I often wondered if Freddy had a good internal laugh when he sang Rancho Grande to an audience of non spanish speakers. Have a spanish speaker translate the lyrics and you will see what I mean! Hihi! Love the chicano Elvis look he had goin' during his hay day and how 'bout that 'fro man!
He says we will soon take everything from the Norte' and make it ours, and we will start by sending all your money Sud to help more come Norte', and then we will rip off your heads and shit down your necks, you fucking gringos and gringas,
fuk you to hell and back while we rape your daughters and kill the white man...
malako,In 2031 we will have a hispanic president ? Maybe, but who cares ? The one we have now is Black, and so what ? The same money men, bankers/wall street, own him just like Bush. I've been to many parties with my Mexican wife's family, and been the token white. Some parties have 50 to 60 people, and she is the one trying to get me to leave at the end of the night. Because I'm have a great time. I always have a great time. Your being a racist is a waste of energy. Luv Freddy
dejame decirte robertomalo que los gringos aprecian mucho la cultura hispana tanto que en el 2031 E.U. tendra un presidente de origen latino o mexicano.

Freddie Fender delivers a fabulous performance of "BEFORE THE NEXT TEAR DROP" at 3:06 of this "You Tube" video. coockiestv- thanks for this classic video.
im using before the next teardrop falls as my graduation song and i like metal but this is the only non metal band ill listen to cause hes ficking awsome
I love Freddies humor on a verse I have never heard , after His Guitar break He says , " when My Mother in law dies , I will bury Her face down , so if She tries to dig Her way out , She will only dig Herself deeper
i have a ranch and evey holieday we go out there the hole family from all over the world and the adults start to get tips and this man comes on and every one gose crazy
Freddy Fender was the first counrty singer I saw on stage at the Bluegrass Fair in Lexington Kentucky he sang with such Heart and Soul I never for get his music
Totally classic Freddy Fender!! Just look at that very excitable personality and the relating to the audience - the latino hoots and hows 0 hecha, hecha, hecha le Freddy. I have attached my humble version of Before the Next Teardrop. Tu amigo, Johnny Pal

I love Freddies humor on a verse I have never heard , after His Guitar break He says , " when My Mother in law dies , I will bury Her face down , so if She tries to dig Her way out , She will only dig Herself deeper

Totally classic Freddy Fender!! Just look at that very excitable personality and the relating to the audience - the latino hoots and hows 0 hecha, hecha, hecha le Freddy. I have attached my humble version of Before the Next Teardrop. Tu amigo, Johnny Pal
