the only thing I can see that would be wrong with your chiller is that you didnt think about the volume on the inside area of the chiller and the volume of the wort betweent he chiller and the walls of your boil kettle. My kettle is about 15" in diameter and the optimal diameter for my chiller is ~10". I also plan on making a prechiller that fits in a bucket like you have which is about 11" D and the optimum diameter of the prechiller is ~ 7.5" D. I am not sure exactly how big of a difference...
Thanks for this video. I have a 1/4" wort chiller but think I want to build a larger diameter one. May I suggest editing your title or description to include "how to build, how to make," etc? You might get more hits.
Question - was it tricky to bring the bottom piece up through the middle of the coil? That part concerns me. Seems like it would be hard to do it w/o kinking. Did you find kinking to be a problem in general? thanks again for the vid.

Thanks for the great vid.
I made mine yesterday and it worked great. Here's the part numbers I got at Home Depot:

I found all of my supplies at Home Depot. I'll see if I can send you the SKU or a better item description.

Where did you get that garbage disposal connector? Is that what is was called in the store (or online)? Thanks.

After coiling the tube, is it pretty solid or does it kinda act like a slinky?

Yes, depending on how tight you rolled the coils. You can solder the coils together but it may take some time.
