  • I'm sorry dear friend explorer, I don't have this info, but if u look it up online, there is some info on Chemung Mine near Bridgeport - or if u buy any topographic maps or gps topo maps such as Magellan that I own, it will pop up when u search for it...

  • What are the lat. and long. numbers?

  • well, I had one in my car,and I did some prospecting around...since it was my first trip wanted to check the area out and was concerned with safety (like if there was anything hanging ready to collapse :-)) the area has lots of metal junk that tipped off my detector many times...the lower levels of the mine, now inaccessible except with ropes, may be worth prospecting if u can get to...because the mine is also flooded as u descend deeper...not the best scenario ever for prospecting...

  • You should have had a metal detector.

  • were is this place at i whant to take my kids here

  • Ah wow ! I just came back from here. I got video to share as soon as I can get it uploaded.

  • great!!! I'm curious how it looks today, whatever's left over there...make some noise once u upload your video, thanks :-)

  • great old mine site- check out Tonopah history video

  • Here is the story of the Chemung Mine. The owner of the mine was cheating the miners out of pay. So late one night a few of them grabbed him in his sleep and threw him down the shaft to his death. He haunts the mine on Saturday nights. Some friends and I went up there this past summer and found some unexplained activity. It was pretty creepy. Please if you visit this mine don't vandalize it. I would like for my children to be able to see this place when they get older.

  • this is really cool......but.....looks like a major law suit waiting to happen. Looks like if you spit on it, it would cave in on you

  • I went inside in 2005, there were several adits open, it's much safer than it appears - what u see in the video is only the outside, which is more exposed to the elements of nature...either way, BLM blocked all access in 2006 to avoid liability lawsuits :-( u can still access the mine with ropes from the top, but this better done by experienced climbers...

  • @19cristian68

Actually, there is still tons of gold there. but as the EPA and BLM bosses say; "Leave it for the Chinese".

Ay yup, our so called civilian servants are that corrupt.

  • did you go inside?

  • Man, once I have my own job and stuff, I'll be going around the world exploring all these abandon places. It makes you wander about its past.
