How to Install Android CyanogenMod on Omnia 2 using Ubuntu - Tutorial

Nice Tutorial. :) After I found out how to root my ubuntu it worked smooth except the phone part. I have no network but wifi. I renamed the file that they said in readme, but doesn't work.

"(it's missing WCDMA 1900 frequency), just use standard JJ1 image. To do this rename cm_update_wm.sh script to cm_o2_update.sh re-run android and after update reboot."

oh I live in Canada and the other difference I used CyanogenMod Beta2. Is it makes any difference?

@aafirocks, thank you for the tutorial, I finally managed to get it works! Iwould like to ask you just how it's possible to add update on the system...I've never get used to linux, so i don't know how to replace files on the system partition(to apply update1) and the last update(app2sd)

@Kwisatz89, To apply the update there are many different ways..

1st: As suggested by the Developer team, just copy the update file to the root of My storage and run Haret, it should automatically update.

2nd: to change it manually using Ubuntu, This is a lengthy procedure and a bit complicated and risky too, so I wont suggest you this method.

I would rather suggest to search on the Modaco thread, there are a few post on how to install update. :)

i created 3 partitions, the first one a 6.4 gb large fat32, the second a 1.6gb ext4 and the third a 217mb swap. extracting files onto the ext4 works fine, put haret, startup and zimage on fat, also named sdcard, and unmount and disconnect the phone. when i then click on haret in winmo, an error message pops up, and then haret boots. afterwards, im stuck on "android on omnia II loading.." for ages. any ideas how i can get android running or what im doing wrong? thanks for the reply.

@aafirocks Yeah. I spent a total of about 12 hours on this, redid the steps in the tutorial about a dozen times, but it never worked. I got it working now though. followed all the steps in your tutorial, but left vold.fstab and init.rc unchanged, only changing startup.txt. strangely enough, it worked right away then. thank you for your tutorial though, it helped tons, especially with the terminal.

if i change the mount/dev/... from mmcblk1p5 to ...0p1, will i still be able to use the phone with an external sdcard?

@SOAB6661 , whatever changes you are making will not effect your phone functionality while you are using Windows mobile. Changes will affect only when you boot into Android.

Hi. I have a rare problem. I install the droid step by step, but my phone cant load it. Its always stuck at the ,,O2DROID, loading logo. (Not at android for omnia loading. The partition number its ok)

Some1 have any idea for my problem?

@kekduck,Not sure, it may be due to drivers.. couple of restarts should fix it, if not then reinstall..

Verify your partition number in Ubuntu, your Ext4 partition should match the Startup.txt file.

Open the Disk utility in Ubuntu, and check the Device number for Ext4, in the video above the Ext4 device name shows as /Dev/sdb2. check what it shows for your Ext4.. If it shows Sdb2 then in Startup.txt it will be 'mmcblk1p2' . if it shows sdb3, then in startup file it will be 'mmcblk1p3' . Verify that and check.
