I am an armed security officer as well and I had to go through three days in a class which included law and authorized use of deadly force, etc. They did a background check and an extensive aptitude test. That guy was a simple trespasser at the time and the officer had no right under law to even draw his weapon especially to fire it! Guys like that give officers like me a bad name.

I think that there should be more of a screening process before letting just any person carry a firearm just because they can pass a written test. There should be some background and psycological tests done to help prevent stupidity. A security officers first and foremost job is to observe and report. Only draw the weapon as a last resort when all other means have failed in protecting life, national security, or major assets.
