  • this vid remind me the -chemical brothers: star guitar- vid too

  • this intelectual95 dude was commenting about his 170 IQ on another four tet song...give it a rest dude we all like this music and your comments are not going to change that

  • @intelectual95 wow I saw your comment on bike by autechre like two-three years ago. Now I come here and look who's come along! You, sir must be a truly inspired troll, I almost admire you. Get a life.

  • @intelctual95 Here’s a few tips. 1. Learn how to spell. 2. 0.2% of the population have an IQ over 140, 170? Retake the test and perhaps try one that is administered by someone who knows what they are doing, not a ‘do it yourself online’ test. 3. You are entitled to like your own style of music but don’t make stupid, ignorant comments when you don’t know what you’re talking about. 4. Research electronic music and you will understand the complexity of such. 4. Fuck off.

  • @rapidwardrobe enough with the IQ already. You know, there's atleast 7 types of intelligence located in the human being. Musical, mathematical, social, linguistic inntelligence and so on... IQ only measures 2 of these intelligences, and is therefore not an accurate indicator of someone's "intelligence". Asshole

  • Made a trainride into art.

  • I could be wrong, but it sounds like Kieran sampled the "How could you do such things?" phrase from Skinny Puppy's "Smothered Hope," which is itself a sample from Hitchcock's "Shadow of a Doubt."

    Interesting.

  • @donnyv78 you are wrong. I have no basis for this argument. I am a moron, feel my POWER!!!

  • :D well that true too.....may the lords of three worlds be with you yo! <3<3

  • love the music although the video is quite dusturbing to my eyes....:E wish they had something simpler....more offering to my visual to go with this beautiful fusion of awesomeness altogether yo!! :)

  • @786thekay just dont look!

  • the title of the beautiful song is just so fabulous

  • i don't think this music for everyone but for people with on that 'a musical journey through life" cause that's what bought me hear i was straight 82 77 UK punk close minded kid 7_8 years and now I'm here. :):):)give it time ..

  • i dont think this music for everyone but for people with on that 'a musical journey through life" cause thats what bought me hear i was striaght 82 77 uk punk close minded kid 7_8 years and now im here. :):):)give it time ..

  • I'd love to hear Kieran Hebden write a song with Thom Yorke. It would be brilliant.

  • @MarblesOnGlass Yorke and Hebden have a collaboration with Burial that just came out this year, it's awesome..

  • 12 people had a Bad trip

  • 12 dislikes? What the hell?!

  • mayby you like Tomas Dvorak, a great young talent

perfect mix of acoustic and electric

  • @milesdavisblackmx5

no i won't send you naked pics of me, im only twelve

  • @MormonismTheANSWER - hahahaa good girl

  • If you like Four Tet, Boards of Canada, Helios, Hammock, Sigur Ros, The Album Leaf, Goldmund, Eluvium, Unwed Sailor, Rachel's, and other similar artists, you might like my stuff. I'd love some support! :)

  • @alkarba Music. :)

  • reminds me of my ex girlfriend, so skatty but love it.

  • I like it!

imposible not to remember the video for star guitar, by the chemical brothers, directed by michel gondry

  • 9 people clearly worship satan

  • Used to listen to this on my mp3 player during my design class in college. Nice memories.

  • ʎɹbunɥ buıʞɔnɟ os ɯı

  • Parts of this clip remind me soo much of the Skins intro.

Otherwise one of my favourite tracks!

    Vive le Quatre Tet!

  • È incredibile quanto tale canzone si abbini con incantevole perfezione a questo filmato.

  • Comment removed

  • caribou's newest does have IDM elements .. it's much more dance inspired than most of his previous work ..

  • @Intelectual95 yes, they do create regurgitated boring souless music that's been done a thousand times before, 170 in an IQ test doesn't stop you from being a narrow minded arse hole though does it?

  • @Intelectual95 haha u fuckin faggot get away NOW and listen to your gay boy band shit.. anyway four tet actually can play more than 4 instruments u fuckin son of a bitch shut up when u havent got ANY knowledge.. fuckyou

  • @Intelectual95 u r the definition of a moron, IQ test 170 my ass, if their was a test for art understanding ability, you would so utterly fail, you and ur fag boybands , IQ is logical analysis of mostly mathematical functions "" which is wat 80% of the IQ exam is "" DUMBASS, THIS IS ART, and i love how u say NERD BLEEPY BLOOP, when u write down ur IQ 2 sentences later, very not nerdy move >.> ... god ur a dumbass

  • @1Deathtool yay let's all argue about music on the internet!

  • @Intelectual95 i hope you are trolling. for humanity's sake, i really hope so.

  • @M4lign No shit.

  • @Intelectual95 Intelectual? First of all you've misspelled inteLLectual (not that bright). Avenged Sevenfold and Four Tet are not even in the same league so you can't really compare.. And, last but not least, we ALL think you are very dumb! (most likely we're right)

  • nice to inspire

  • very similar to chemical brothers song....

  • OK, now my IDM playlist doesn't consist solely of Autechre and Aphex Twin anymore ;-)

  • @flippert0 You should add Boards of Canada, Boxcutter and Caribou, too ;)

  • @fastkomplett BoC is already there :-)

    Thanks for Boxcutter!

    But Caribou IDM? Seriously?

  • @flippert0 Well its not actually IDM but very similiar to Four Tet, I guess..

  • This song is almost entirely comprised of a sample from The Entourage Music and Theater Ensemble. The song is "Neptune Rising", from The Neptune Collection on Folkways Records, released in 1976. It is available on iTunes , as well as the Smithsonian/Folkways website.

  • hey guys, I did a 'recontextualization experiment' with this song...in my case, that means I wrote lyrics and did vocals overtop of it. I don't think you are allowed to post links here (or at least it's not letting me) so search for 'Four Tet & Xylen Roberts-She Moves Simplicius (Fever Dream Flow)' if interested. Thank you.

  • @XylenRoberts why not putting a music video of it here as a respond to this one ?

  • i can really hear another song like the main guitar riff definetly cant put my finger on it like hes remixing a classic melody or something

  • endlos schön!

  • dis moive is tokyo's view from train. awsome tune aswel

  • @Yassicz You're pretty witty to figure that out.

The guy who made the video is pretty damn gifted.

And Four Tet is a GENIUS for he has figured out how to compose sounds into magic.

  • @TarTard dats right bruv!

  • wow, "rounds" is a very, very good album. To all the Four Tet fans - is this his best? (I am new to Four Tet)

  • @geegee1848 that and pause, but it's all gud

  • trippy

  • who knows the guitar sample, i know it but i can't remember where.

    nice song grat producer.

  • addicted to this track.....

  • omfg

  • There is something about the music and the video that makes my mind just go completely calm and serene, and thats a hard thing for me becuase i have severe ADD and its rare when i can ever get peace and quiet in my head. It makes me want too constantly listen too it all day everyday!

  • @Feezlebee thats cool, four tet music have that soothing quality.

You shiould try meditation,it worked for me to relax my mind. there are a lot of ways to do it. i Basically sit on a chair confortably with my back straigth, and began to breath naturally. I try to pay attention to what i feel, the sounds of the outside, and the thoughts wandering in my head, just look at them not judging them. Sometimes iithelps when i also pay attention tothe spot between my eyes.

  • @lucasaguirre777 I love medidation. you should try chakra opening meditation or youtube some stuff with alpha brainwaves it literally kinda makes me feel like im high..but in a good way :)

  • wow

  • 電音詩人 Kieran Hebden

  • some kind person please tell me the album i can find this on? i don't download.

  • @FUTUREPR00F1 the album is Rounds. You can find that and much more in google or wikipedia :)

  • classic ...So powerful , inspirational... but at the same time disturbing ...

    love it ...

  • what is the noise at 1:45 ? songs great except when that comes in :/

  • @missstephyb thats the catch...

  • @missstephyb It sounds like it could be a sample of a xerox machine/fax machine. I love it. It's supposed to challenge the serenity of the piece and add tension. At points you don't really want it to be there, but the when the measure culminates and resolves it actually adds to the piece and really adds for a strong and intense resolution. So you want it there but you don't. Like a lot of things in life.

  • @bodhidarma1 brilliant review.

  • @bodhidarma1 i love your description of what that piece of the song plays - "to challenge the serenity of the piece"... it's actually a sample of highly distorted guitar in mid-strum.

  • @bodhidarma1 i think the xerox sound is what makes you appreciate the softer parts. also like alot of things in life

  • @bodhidarma1 great comment, very perceptive and well thought out. Exactly what i was thinking.

  • Great tune - perfect on the ear when walking to work.

  • I Love this SONG...........

  • star guitar ;) ?

  • you use a cheap computer cheap or free sofware and still

    you rule keep it up

  • so chill ;)

  • he's one guy & not a band he's a dj lol..

  • Actually he's a multi-intrumentalist who can play the acoustic guitar, drums, piano and many others, a some what gifted individual.

  • ahh really never seen him on anything but decks & his tenori-on ? sweet !

  • Aint it just.

  • alright wikipedia nice one chatter

  • Absolutely ;-)

  • @SilentlySuffocating he did all his old tunes on audiomulch... very impressive

  • @tumblklaat. Cool :)

  • @SilentlySuffocating

'somewhat gifted' is somewhat of an understatement ;)

  • No doubt.

  • he is a producer

  • is this an official video? and is this off the NYC thing?

  • pretty sure this one's form every thing's ecstatic, or which ever one has "My Angel Rocks back and forth" and yes it's an official video, it even came with the My Angel Rocks Back and Forth single.

  • Rounds ;)

  • four tet is one of the best bands ive ever heard

  • i think its just one guy making this on his computers .. not sure though but i aw an internview and he wa the only human there..

  • Indeed, his name is Kieran Hebden

  • I love this. Cityscape as a wave form. Pure awesome. I appreciate this a whole hell of a lot.

  • yeah for real!

  • Thats interesting. It is annoying if you are restless, but can be relaxing. How does he make this music, on his computer?

  • Four Tet is amazing. I can listen to them all day everyday.

  • =) Have no words to describe his work

  • she moved me last august.

  • Love it. Anytime, anywhere.

  • This is really awesome :X it is just so relaxing.

  • that part in the train at the end looks like the coast from Sacramento to San Francisco. when you take the Amtrak train I believe you go right over that bridge and past those houses.

  • Great song. Just listen..

  • KARAMPINATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • it is not the best. i think bonobo is better.

If you like them listen to: cinematic orchestra, quantic, mister scruff, skalpel, rainstick orchestra

  • Comment removed

  • nice selection, thx

  • This is the best Four Tet mix ever! n_n

  • Boards of canada (salad fingers lol)

and four tet are the best at making this kind of music

  • Who else is making music like this? I'm new to this band and would love to hear more like it.

  • down load Crying Over Pros for No Reason, by edIT.

  • Thank you! :D

  • flashbulb, emancipator

  • Flashbulb FTW!

  • It's not a band, it's one guy.

  • amazing. and love love love boards of canada.

  • this song's fucked up... in the good way

  • if you like four tet check out boards of canada, chromakey dreamcoat is a good place to start

  • Boards of Canada are the ones for me: Pure Genius.

Also try: Sounds from the Ground Ulrich Schnauss Stars of the Lid

  • Boards of Canada are in most of the Salad Fingers videos

  • Anyone know what the instrument is, the twangy chinese sounding one?

Also I really wish I could get the video, it would make a great screensaver.

  • It might be a biwa, which is japanese.

  • This is one of the most beutiful songs ever written.

  • Haha IDM or Progressive.. Apex Twin ( FSOL?)

Amon Tobin, Bonobo, Mr Cooper, And The Future Sounds Of London that's good:D Amon Tobin was the KING of electronic Music:D

  • ??Epilon below: IDM not progressive??

    What planet is he on?

Theres no music more progressive than IDM even if the term has been around since 1993.

Its like saying Aphex Twin isnt progressive.

Heres a tidbit for ya: Aphex Twin is more ahead ( even without new releases) than any other artist/band he knows.

Kieran Hebden is fucking brilliant too...

  • You guys might actually like one of my playlists. It's a mix of Fourtet, Bonobo, Baby Mamooth, plaid and so on...

    /view_play_list?p=B456E4A3DD0BC4AA

I'll keep on updating the list. Hope you enjoy it

    ;)

  • that distorted sound that starts at 1:43 is the most beautiful thing to me. It like someone starts telling me all their problems and they just completely let go, let it all out, you know...

And the visuals of never ending symmetry really add to the notion that we're all just moving around over and over again, but our insides are constantly changing and developing (whether its our maturity= the beat, or our fears and emotional needs= the sound from 1:43 onwards, that has no beat).

  • It does have a beat, actually, if you listen. He set it so it's a bit syncopated, but fits in perfectly even if it doesn't seem so at first.

  • fourtet : genial!happiness!

    don't forget "fridge"....very good!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is it just me or is the future lyric-less?

Everything progressive these days is instrumental.

  • I think it's just you :)

  • This is electronica--IDM to be more specific--not progressive...and most electronica tends to be vocal-less...

  • heard of battles?

  • lyrics can ruin songs...

  • and they can also make them immensely better, if they are good lyrics

  • true

    ;)

  • I concur with theskorr, this song deserves more appropriate video.

  • I respect your opinion and taste, but I really like the video!

    :)

  • i just discovered four tet... anyone recommend any other electronic group that is similar?

  • You could try Bonobo.

Also try to find Magic Arrows, but it's pretty hard, mind you.

  • Also try good old Plaid, Peace Orchestra, Baby Mammoth, Bola, Cinematic Orchestra and of course, Fila Brazillia!

They aren't all 'similar' but are worth listening to and stay in the same genre.

  • Extraordinary song, among the best of Four Tet's work. I couldn't stop listening it for a time and now it's back to haunt me again.

Not a bad video, but definitely not for this song.

  • Extraordinary song, among the best of Four Tet's work. I couldn't stop listening it for

  • gran video!! great electronic track!!

  • here listen we came up with a better idea for your video so shout us a hallah dog we need a chat

  • bahahaha hallah!!!! wtf HOLLA MAN

  • dangit, i love this song.

  • wenaaa

  • Holly cow. I was listening to this on the bus one day and thinking: 'a car ride would make a great video for this song'. love it.

  • Same thing happened to me. It turned my average bus ride into a profound experience.

  • same here lol!

  • does anyone hear watch chris cunningham's work its fuking awsome

  • Yeah, he's good, not as good as michel gondry though.

  • errr.... one person Kieron Hebden, its programmed by him.

  • I think they mean quartet, even thought I have been told there are acually five members in this pop group

  • its just one guy and a computer and some other thingys floating here and there

  • love this song..

  • great!

whenever I listen to them I have this impression of listening backwards... amazing:) and when I was first time in Ireland - cars on left side, so on - and walkin' on streets with this song on ears, dear me! my blood has changed direction of circulation;)

    enjoy!

  • LOL very good description of the similar feeling when listening to four tet

  • Isn't this the same as a Fatboy Slim video?

  • bello...

  • I adore your works!

  • pentheif65: well i really don't think that the comparison with this beautiful cinematic work flatters the kitschy 3D video to star guitar much

  • love this video, works so well with the track (i suppose it helps im in love with the track)

  • kind of a rip of the chemical brothers star guitar video

    4 tet is great anyway

  • Regardless of how many times I see it, it is still amazing.

  • lo mejor!

  • Favorite song thus far from fourtet

  • I actually own this on DVD from the My Angle Rocks Back and Forth single. Great stuff.

  • this is a top track. top video to boot.
