  • Does your skimmer put out a lot micro bubbles

  • @MyMrFlintstone Take a look at my main display and you will see little to no micro bubbles in the tank.

  • I was wondering what number should show up on your hydrometerand how do you know if your tank is fully cycled andhow much salt i put a gallon 1/2 cup?

  • @semaarairsoft123 For a reef I prefer to have hydrometer point at 1.025. The Cycle is determined by testing the system since day one of set up, and the amount of salt needed varies depending on the brand. I recommend you follow the directions of that salt mix, or add salt little by little (mixing it well with a powerhead), and use the hydrometer until you reach the desired salinity. Good luck.

  • That I've created should I leave it alone in order to avoid anymore mess? What do you think. E

  • Thanks. I kinda figured it may help out. However I don't know if after cycling I want to disturb the SB. Do you think it'd do any harm. Will the debris/detritus breakdown on its own naturally. Is it common to have this type scenario when setting up the tank? Also I'm not entirely sure I'm happy with the aquascaping th

  • @nujerzdrve1 Disturbing the surface of the sand bed is never an issue. It's when you disturb it deeply and possibly trap some of the cyano beneath it that the issues arise. In most cases, the debris will diminish as the life populates the bed and you add critters such as hermit crabs. I would leave it be if it were me. Now is the time to make any and all final changes to the reef during the cycle. Good luck.

  • I just added about 80lbs of rock to my 93g cube. After playing around with some aquascaping ideas, some of the rock has broken of and left some debris scattered about the SB. I'm wondering if I should rush to remove some of the debris. I'm sure the broken rock pieces aren't an issue besides being unsightly but the debris resembles detritus buildup and I'm considering siphoning out before adding livestock.

  • @nujerzdrve1 It's as you stated. The broken off pieces of rubble are of no concern, but the detritus may be, however, the detritus may be efficient in the cycle so I would leave it be. If after the cycle you think you can easily siphon it, I would do it then. Good luck and enjoy your new set up.

  • This is an amazing video. I just started to Aquascape my tank which is about six months old. I bought 15 pounds from my fish store two weeks ago and then I bought 30 punds from somebody who was selling theirs last night. I bought my water tester kit and there water was right. Was this ok? I hear people talking about cured rock so I am not sure. Thanks and keep up the good work.

  • @Bklynsbestkept I would say this is OK to do but before you add any animals to the tank, make sure you have all the rock you need. Every time you add rock, even if cured, there may be a cycle. Good luck and thanks for the feedback and subscription :)

  • @newyorksteelo Thanks, nobody told me that so far. I have about five fish and was going to get some more but now I know to wait until I finished with the rock. Thanks again.

  • @Bklynsbestkept In my years of experience, I have found that patience is the key to success in this hobby. Glad to be of some help.

  • @newyorksteelo I am in the works of setting up a 28g nano and since seeing this video i am worried about the setup of my current aquascape, What can i do differently? Please consider watching my video so you can give me some pointers. I Have been getting so many different opinions. In all honesty this is stressing my out! I Thank you and Cheers!

  • @almostkid911 Everything you need to know about what steps to take and how to do it is found in this video buddy. It's not that difficult to do an open aquascape and add plenty of flow to prevent dead spots. Good luck.

  • How much dry sand and rock for 29 gallon (not biocube) reef tank?

  • @907867yt Best thing to do here to be absolutely sure how much you need is to Google "Deep Sand Bed Calculator" or "DSB Calculator" to find the answers you seek. Good luck.

  • @907867yt Reef Central.com has a sand bed calculator including some other calculators as well.

  • @Blazenshark Yeah, I have used that calculator many a times before. Thanks for sharing that.

  • ok well i have a few questions the way u do this i have read on several forums that the LR shouldnt touch the back of the tank what are you thoughts about that

and another thing is ur sand bed more then 4" because what i have read thats what a DSB is

but again i dont really know and im just asking ur imput

  • @smegzilla69 As long as there is at least 6 inches of space from the bottom to the back, their shouldn't be an issue with dead spots. The key here is opened aquascape :) As for your other question, please visit my video titled "How To Setup A Saltwater Aquarium Deep Sand Bedn" to find the answers you seek.

  • @newyorksteelo lol u have so many useful vids its hard to find what you need just browsing

  • @smegzilla69 Thanks, thats what I am here for. To lead you to the right video :)

  • @newyorksteelo yea im trying to start my first reef in a 55, with a 48" current usa sunpod

and im trying to work out my filtration now idk if im gonna go with the sump or a cheaper canister like fluval 405

  • @smegzilla69 You mentioned the word reef, and when it comes to corals, a freshwater fluval is not the best route. A canister filter will trap waste and break it down into nitrates, (nitrates being an enemy of corals, whereas a sump refugium with skimmer will produce nitrates, but consume them as well. Good luck.

  • @newyorksteelo yea i will do that if i can but if i do go with the canister i will be sure to have 1 or 2 hob skimmers

  • @smegzilla69 Good luck.

  • i wanne start with sea aqaurium and watching a lot of videos and tips, great videos thumbs up. but can you explain one more time the little aqarium in the filter system. is it just to create more organism to break down ammonia and nitrate, and come they also in your main tank ???

please help me, i wanne do it right, very interesting

  • @timmie47 It works as a refugium and filter system. Continue to watch my videos as I explain it further in many others. Thanks for the thumbs up. Appreciate the feedback.

  • great infomational video thanx newyork!

  • @mustangmike420 Your welcome. Thanks for the positive feedback :)

  • Wow nice

I'm on my iPhone ill take a look later on my computer thanks nice vids

  • @svt283 Your welcome.

  • So you don't do any water changes?

About to start just getting tips

  • @svt283 I have not done a water change to this system in more than a year. You can watch my 4 part video series on "How To Reef Aquarium Maintenance" videos to find the answers you seek.

  • Awsome video!

  • @MrBAchompBAchomp Glad you liked it.

  • hey steelo i was wondering whn im toping off water do i add salt or do i use fresh water and ima add a video up check my channel in 24 hours plz i want your advice

  • @jonharington1 No salt needed for top off. Just use freshwater. Not sure if I will have time to view your video but I will try.

  • Thanks Steelo

  • @HeyWeRfilmingHere Your welcome.

  • Hey Steelo, what size grain is that sand? Got any problems with those Vortech blowing the sand?

  • @VeryBadReputation 0.5 mm grain size, and no problems with the vortechs blowing sand. The Vortechs are controllable pumps so you can fine tune them to not bother the sand. Using short pulse mode works best for not bothering the sand. Also keep in mind that I have 90g tank and my pumps are placed high,

  • Thank you for all the help I'll be getting the clowns tmr then. Again thank you for all of your much needed help

  • @TrXBaNDiT1 Your welcome.

  • I will most likely do that I used my lfs refractometer and my test kit right now and both of them read 0 but my concern would be stocking the fish do you think that 2 small clowns is a lot for my tank tomorrow to handle or is that fine they are small by the way thanks for all of your advice I was checking out some of your tanks they are really nice I also your video of the clown hosting the anemone that's badass man keep up the good work

  • @TrXBaNDiT1 @ small fish in one shot should be fine, so long as the tank cycled properly though. In a week or 2, you can add 2 more and so one taking into consideration not to overstock the tank. Thanks.

  • @newyorksteelo

But it's been 2 months could it really take that long I just tested my water my nitrates are 20 nitrite 0 ph 8.0 and my ammonia is 0ppm well in the card it is the very closest one my reading of ammonia looks slightly LIGHTER than the 0ppm that's why I'm confused because I don't know if it is correct if it's lighter it's not darker than 0ppm but lighter is that a good thing or bad.well after me and my friends conforming it my ammonia is at zero how do you think my nitrate levels a

  • @TrXBaNDiT1 CHeck the date on the test kit as these usually have an expiration date on them. Also consider buying another set. They are inexpensive and by having 2 you may be reassured that the older one is working. Good luck.

  • @newyorksteelo

I'm sorry for any confusion but my main question is are the API tests accurate when testing ammonia because mines is at a boundary between 0 and 0.25ppm.when I tested newly mixed water I got the same reading as my aquarium my tank has 2 months cycling first month I messed up 2 nd month which is really 3 weeks and 4days , I added cured live rock 60 pounds of it. All of my parameters gave me signs of a finished cycle for example a couple of days ago I got a high nitrate reading wh

  • @TrXBaNDiT1 These test kits will give you a ball park reading which is good enough to give you a general idea of whats going on in the system. If there are signs of ammonia, your cycle is far from being over but on its beginning stages instead. I think you should send me a private message where you can type more cause your messages seem to be cutting off.

  • @newyorksteelo

Man it's evident that you are the shit when it comes to saltwater tanks.i really really need help do you think you can help me I am a newbie in the aquarium hobby so I am literally lost. I have a 40 gallon with a sump that has bio balls and a filter pad I have 2 months cycling.first month I messed up my cycle I only added. 60 pounds of live sand but I overstocked too many times about three and I always over fed.my fish never ate a thing that's why I over fed .about 3 or 4 weeks a

  • @TrXBaNDiT1 Not exactly sure what the question is here though?

  • what would be the problem in having too much live rock in the system and why would this create more nitrates? am i right in thinking that 1 pound of live rock per gallon is a good ratio?

  • @shardinio As stated in the video, 1 pound of live rock per gallon is all you need. Too much live rock will create dead spots and result in more decomposition and more surface area for Niitrifying bacteria to grow, hence creating more nitrates. As a matter of fact, the sand bed alone has even more surface area than all the live rock put together and you only really need enough live rock to keep Ammonia and Nitrite at undetectable levels. All of this is stated in this videos narration buddy :)

  • @newyorksteelo Thanks man! This makes good sense to me now, keep up your awesome work and the thumbs will be flying up there! ;)

  • @shardinio :)

  • hi steelo!

how good is the lighting fixture you got and could u do a video on it? thanks :)

  • @k4ndyk1ng It's an awesome Metal Halide System. Coralife Aqualite Pro with 2 150w HQI's, and 2 96 watt Actinincs. The the bulbs I use are the "Pheonix" for the MH's, and the Coralife Actinics in combination. Has worked great for me since 2006, and i do discuss the fixture somewhat on several of my videos. Please visit my video titled "Reef Aquarium Lighting", and also visit my video titled "How To 90g Reef Aquarium Setup Day 3" where I cover the installation. Don't forget to rate my video :)

  • @newyorksteelo ok thanks! :)

  • @k4ndyk1ng Your welcome.

  • thanks alot i found it and its not harm full what a load of my head

  • @zeus749 Glad to hear it. Good luck.

  • Hey the section you are talking about with water movement.. is that the same with soft corals as well? because when I have high flow on them it seems like they dont come out

  • @jarederajarederaj It depends on the type of flow being offered. The pumps illustrated on this video are by far some of the best most powerful, yet wide and gentle flow pumps on the market. Big difference VS pumps that offer linear flow, resulting in the blasting of the coral preventing it from opening properly. None the less, some corals require less flow than others and that's where a wave make comes into play. Good luck.

  • I have a 29 gallon FOWLR with about 15 pounds of live rock and then probably a 4 pound piece of cheap rock LFS gave me. the 4 pound piece has been covered with alot of purple Coralline algea, should I take this rock out and get more live rock or leave it?

  • @lost2212x Not sure what you mean by cheap rock? But if your tank is thriving I would just let it be and see how well your nano continuous to thrive. Good luck.

  • Where r u hiding the live rock in the sump? 50lbs in tank & 40lbs in the refrigum?

I could not see on your video.

    Thanks.

  • @reeffan I added the other 40 pounds on the first chamber behind the skimmer. I did it like this so that I wont have too much rock in the main display, and so that I can have the recommended minimum of 90 pounds of live rock for this 90g system. Had I added all 90 pounds to the main display, I would not have added rock below as stated in the video. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  • aquascaping can be such a pain and take 4ever and sometimes all 4 not...(I re-aquascaped a bit)

  • so my aquascape needs re done LOL?? youtube.com/watch?v=FWZMOdv-xv8

  • @pazabam Guess so, but links do not work on here. You can try copy and pasting it yourself and see it wont work.

  • can you give me some advice on my setup. its basically new.

  • @ganasilk I will try my best to visit your video when I get a chance but am overwhelmed at the moment with work, family, and answering questions here on YouTube, In the mean time, all the information and advice you seek are found on my videos. Good luck and welcome to the hobby.

  • Hi, one question... do you still use the micron socks?

  • @MrAlien79 Nope. No micron socks are used in this set up because they become nitrate factories, and require the added maintenance of cleaning and replacing them every three days.

  • hey would u aquascape a fish only system the same as that reef ready one

  • @davido523 Yes I would. Absolutely.

  • What size tank and what kind of lighting is that?

  • @brownitsdown1 90 gallon tank with the Coralife Aqualite Pro Metal Halide System. Good luck.

  • What type of rock do you have in there?

  • @johnherrera305 Manado Live Rock :)

  • @Hobden2XD Sounds good. Your welcome :)

  • @Hobden2XD My only suggestion is to let your imagination do its thing and you will surely have a successful aquascape for sure :) Good luck and welcome to the hobby. Be sure to visit my video "How To Cycle A Reef Aquarium" in case you haven't done so already, and do know that until all of the rock and sand is in place, you may experience other cycles so it is important to be patient in adding livestock. Every time you add new live rock, there will be another mini cycle.

  • @Hobden2XD It does make sense, and I did somewhat bury the small footprint of rock in the sand, but in all honesty, when you have a deep sand bed, fish that burrow in it are not recommended. Please do Google "Dr Ron Shimik's Article On Deep Sand Beds" to learn more about the do's and dont's of deep sand beds. Thanks for sharing that :)

  • Thanks for the advice newyork. Your the man

  • @4thGloryMonday Your welcome :)

  • If you get a chance take a look at my rock work and tank to tell me what you think. I woul really appreciate it.

    Thanks.

  • that brown line is from the metal halide lights try turning them off and using your t5s when doing a vid

  • @scalecrawler08 Yeah, it appears to be the UV rays produced by the metal halides bouncing off from the white sand and creating the brown lines, but the issue seems to have been resolved when I messed around a bit with the camera settings.

  • do you have a wave box

  • @scalecrawler08 No wave box in this system. Only the Vortech MP40's in this system and their drivers. These are more than enough to create waves in the system :)

  • what are the best for the buck protien and do you need them for fish only sw tanks

  • @scalecrawler08 That's a really tough question to answer cause in this hobby, you get what you pay for :) Also because a protein skimmer should be the heart of your filtration. For these reasons, I recommend you do not cut corners in this area :) Good luck.

  • the link of the site is down so i am worndering if small bristle worms will harm any fish or soft corals i just added some cured live rock form the store and i look and my tank with a flash light and night and there was 5 small ones and one other worm that is tan and i got a starfish and crb but i dont think those are harmfull but alot of plp onyt r saying the the worms with kill stuff so i just wanted to ask any expert :)

  • @ramibadreddine I jut checked the link and it worked fine. As for your question on bristle worms, Please watch my video called "How To Reef Aquarium Maintenance - Daily Tasks" To find the answers you seek as I talk about this briefly in that video. Good luck.

  • @newyorksteelo will do tanks

  • Ok thanks!!!!

  • Hey just some things I want to ask are the power heads magnetic and where did u get them?? Where did u get the sand? Also I will tell u when I get my 29 gallon started.... CONTINUED.....

  • @TWhite2345 The answers you seek are found on my videos. I have 2 videos on these pumps alone describing them and reviewing them in detail :) Please check my channels video list to find the answers you seek.

  • Hey I was just wondering are those power heads magnets, where did u get the sand and where do u get ur clownfish if u have any?? I've seen most of ur vids and when I get my 29 gal started I will especially let u no hopefully I can do that everyday until I add my 2 clownfish and will try to do as many updates!! Thanks for everything u have said in ur vids!! Ur like a friend with all the info I need to no!!!!

  • @TWhite2345 Your welcome!

  • Hey man i really like your videos and I just want to know... How long have you been in the saltwater industry and did u used to have fresh water fish before saltwater fish?

  • @martintimes1 I've had freshwater tanks in my home since I was 5 years old, and been in the saltwater hobby now for a little over 8 years. If you visit my main channel, on the left side is a brief description about me and my purpose for uploading videos. Also, you will find a link to my website which contains information about me there as well :)

  • when you set up the rocks do you lean them against the back glass or do you leave a gap? i am soon to start putting rocks in my aquarium and want to avoid getting scratches on the glass. thanks

  • @GRRjammm I leaned mines against the overflow box, but only towards the top. In the bottom there is 6 inches of space from the overflow to the rocks. It;s sort of like a slanted reef wall with plenty of space in the back of the rocks for easy water flow.

  • @newyorksteelo and if i was to lean the rocks against the back, would you recommend putting plastic or something over the glass to protect it? thanks for the help

  • @GRRjammm The back of the glass is never nearly as important as the front and sides but if you want to keep it scratch free, simply position the rocks carefully and call it a day. No need to add plastic of any kind and the such. Also, if your tank is 18 inches or wider from front to back, you can create islands in the middle as suggested in this video which are p-laced in the middle of the tank. Good luck. I am sure you will figure it out :)

  • Hi, I was wondering if you can use a black light for a night light on a salt water tank. I don't want to do it than loose corals. I am planing to start a salt water tank soon but don't want to screw up on lighting. Please get back to me! Thanks!

  • @geraldgustav I recommend you leave the tank in total darkness during the night hours. Corals respond better to feeding when there is very little to no light at night.

  • What brand of sugar fine reef sand did you use?

  • @gmoney1961 I have a video called "Live Sand For Marine Aquarium" that contains the answers you seek :)

  • Yo broskie, I think I've watched most of ur videos, and I don't know if u talked about this, but huh, what happend to all the fish u had before u started up on this system?

  • @raulgocubs I deleted that video which is why you don't know. Sorry but I sold all the fish, live rock, sand, the old sump refugium and began new because my stand had series issues. Check my video called Reef Aquarium Stand Problems & Solutions to see the water damage on the bottom. I sold almost everything which funded this new project of the 90g rebuild process.

  • I really like all you videos and will subscribe. I have a question. Is there a media reactor that would be small enough to use for a 10 gallon nano reef. Thanks newyorksteelo

  • @jmanproductions012 Its possible to use the phosban reactor with a 10 gallon tank but it would require another pump in such a small tank. For such a small setup, I recommend the use of a HOB filter instead. You can easily add the media to one of these. Good luck.

  • New york steelo, Can you please tell me how you do your water changes on the 90 gallon system, I am a novice and noticed from other peoples videos that some of the sand will get sucked up. How do you not suck up the sand? Is it because you kink the hose or what? Please comment back, you are my saltwater idol. ;)

  • @Tristansfishcrazy I have yet to do a water change to this tank in almost 6 months, but i will be doing one soon and will document it for you guys so stay tuned :) I also do not siphon the sand at all. This is a deep sand bed, not a shallow sand bed. i recommend you watch all my videos to learn more and find the answers you seek. Good luck.

  • just message me and let me know if i should move them around

  • @mrswagerondeckk This being a fish only system, with very little coral, the rules have a lot more leeway for these types of setups. I would say leave it as is if you are happy with it, and it's worked well. The only thing I would to to this set up is add a lot more water flow to really bring out these fishes behavior. They love strong water flow. Keep up the good work.

  • @newyorksteelo im going to add lots of corals but i dont think that light is strong enough, it was the light i had in my 75 gallon. but i have 7 return tubes with a mag flo 18 gph and a powerhead. is that still too weak of waterflow ? thankyou for your help

  • @mrswagerondeckk Try looking at my 90g system. In my 90, I have a mag drive 1800 gph return pump split into 2, also use another mag drive 1800gph pump for the skimmer, and also use 2 Vortech MP40's, each giving me the ability to fluctuate up to 3,200 gph each. May I remind you this is only a 90g system and look how much flow I have. These animals come from the reefs where water flow can be 1000 times stronger than the amazon river. As long as the flow offered is wide not linear. Good luck.

  • @newyorksteelo ok thanks btw how to you keep your sand algae free because i have to return pumps blowing very close to the sand but algae kepps growing !

  • @mrswagerondeckk I am working on making a video about this and possibly release it by tomorrow. In the mean time take a look at the following videos to find the answers you seek. Phosphates Problems & Solutions, How To Cycle A Reef Aquarium, Green Hail Algae Problems And Solutions, Red Slime Algae (Cyanobacteria) Problems & Solutions, all these videos talk about how to prevent algae. Good luck.

  • @newyorksteelo can u check out my vids and tell me if my rocks are stacked nicely check out video 2 because i changed one of the ricks around. thanks

  • Wow! I am new to saltwater and thank god for this video! I never knew about dead spots until now and I had my rock formations all wrong!!! I immediately went removed all of my inhabitant out of the way and redid all of my rock formations! Only about 5 rocks, and only the tips of them, are touching the sandbed. Thanks so much newyorksteelo!!!

  • @hotchicky8 Awesome. My only advice is to make sure the structure is solid by trying to move it around with your hand. If it's solid, you are on the right track. Good luck and thanks for watching this video and applying my recommendations :)

  • @newyorksteelo Yup I made sure to ty and move the rock around and nothing is budging, so everything is solid! :) Thanks again.

  • @hotchicky8 Anytime :)

  • Oh and i buy my live rock at the local fish store.. Aquatic critter. Anything i should look for on the rocks?

  • @KDCashTV Look for the smell of the rock. If it smells like caca, it is uncured live rock and needs to be either cured with the start of a new tank, or cured separately in order to add it to a already established tank. Look for the rock to be very porous and light weight. The more porous and lightweight it is, the more surface area on the rock. Stay away from boulder like pieces and also look for lots of coralline algae growth. Lastly, look for great prices :) Good luck.

  • Man nysteelo ! you need a video of you doing the exact step by step aquascape as you have in this vid. So i can watch and acknowledge your gawdness and creativity and maybe make a tower similar to it in my 55 lol. Im taking your advice and getting rid of 30 pounds of my base and throwing in about 5 more live and gonna reaquascape.

  • @KDCashTV That is going to be impossible to do since it is already done lol. but I can understand where you are coming from. Thanks fir the suggestion :)

  • Aquascaping with a little over 70 pounds in my 55 gallon is impossible. i just tried it again and cant get it how i want it. Wish i could easily do it like this dude here.. Imma stress my fish out if i try it and take 2 hours again. Frustrating..

  • @KDCashTV 70 pounds is entirely too much rock for a 55 gallon. You can easily do with 50 pounds easy. I only have 50 pounds in the main display of my 90g system, Imagine a 55g. Good luck.

  • @newyorksteelo I was told to get up to 1 to 1.5 pounds per gallon so i bought a whole lot of base rock to add in with about 15 pounds of live rock.

  • @KDCashTV No way buddy, unless it is dense rock which is the worst of all rocks due to lack of surface area. The best rock is porous deep within it and lightweight for a large piece.

  • @KDCashTV Next time you want to buy rock come and ask me about first. I will lead you in the right direction.

  • Thumbs up for NEWYORKSTEELO!!

  • I gotta re-aquascape my tank...I originally did it based on my likes. I think my 2 main caves/tunnels are not good b/c my trigga can easily guard both ends & he gets real territorial (mainly at night)...

  • @Springs24 Sounds like you are on the right track :)

  • i am doing diy live rock for my tank can i glue the rocks together to mack them secure or just place them well?

  • @DaughtersBoi Absolutely. If the rocks are not as heavy and you feel that you can easily down slide the aquascape with just the touch of a finger, gluing the rocks will be beneficial. If the aquascape is sturdy, no need to glue it. Good luck and god bless :)

  • I just removed EVERYTHING but the cleaners from my 29 gallon biocube and bought a single Ocellaris Clown + Cleaner Shrimp also, a powerhead to increase circulation my Liverock was covered in caves and little holes perfect for hitchikers and I have had 0 hitch hikers! It sucks why is this? Oh ya, it has some coraline algae on it though.

  • @xmazz31x The shrimp is probably eating them all up. Try looking at your tank during the night hours with a flash light. I always catch something new at around 3 or 4 in the morning. The quality of the live rock and where you buy it is important to have all the little critters. Best place to buy live rock is liveaquaria. Straight from the ocean to their warehouse to you. Good luck.

  • hi there once again great video just a question i am cycling my 120 gal soon to be reef tank and i bought marco rock what is the best way to start cycle and should i keep my protein skimmer off. some one gave me live 150 lbs live sand from his system and do i still need to seed my system with bacteria to start cycle thank you

  • @ravi197699 The answers you seek are found on my other video called "How To Cycle A Reef Aquarium". I would not run the skimmer is this is dead rock up until about a week later after introducing the rock. On the other hand, when using live rock, i would run the skimmer since day one to preserve as much life as possible on the rock. Good luck and thanks for the feedback.

  • Packaged..OK.Is that the oolite sugar sand you have in the 90G...?

  • @marts500 Check my video list and you will find the answers you seek.

  • Hi...would you recommend the dried live sand or live sand from a well kept reef aquarium to use with my live rock....?Also should i skim and use carbon whilst cycling....? Look foward to more vids!

  • @marts500 I recommend neither. I recommend packaged live sand, new and processed, then seeded with live rock and a bit if sand from a well kept reef. I would run all filtration and media since day one.

  • Awesome job on vids really informative. Just a quick question. Just wanted to know what is the correct amount of live rock to add per gallon for reef aquariums?

  • @hendogg0 1 pound per gallon is all you really need if its true live rock that is porous. Good luck.

  • I don't see the lines you are referring to in this video. When you got close to the tank the rock work started looking red, but overall video looks great!

  • @Striiket Thanks for the feedback. Greatly appreciated :)

  • I love watching all your videos. I would love for you to check out my humble aquarium and give me some insight on how to make my aquascaping better. Thanks and keep making some awesome video.

  • @E90addict Thanks for the feedback which is much appreciated. Once i replace my laptop, I will surely take a peek and leave a comment if need be on your channel. Maybe I will get a chance to take a peek today from work. Good luck and thanks for supporting my channel.

  • I have a question about adding curred live rock into my 14 gal biocube. It is established for about 4 months now and it has about 7 pounds of liverock and I wanted to add 7 more pounds and wanted to know if this would hurt anything or be ok

  • @allSaLTwater If there are no fish or inverts in the system, should not be an issue but the tank is going to cycle again. Unless you cure the rock on a separate container. Good luck.

  • Your videos haven't been coming into my sub box. Haven't seen one for three months, glad I checked here

  • @geedunk13 Really? Wow, maybe you can chose the option to get an email when ever i upload a video. Thanks for catching up and don't forget to rate my videos :)

  • hi again, ive been posting comments a bit lately, a question ive got about aquascaping is i only have a mature tank for 2-3 years but a lot of my live rock is small rocks (lots of dead spots in other words) for me to be able to make no dead spots i will have to buy new life rock and redesign the aquascaping, will that involve a nitrate spike (re cycling) again? and what problems will that bring and if i monitor the nitrates can i simply perform some water changes to accommodate for this?

  • @MrAxelcampbell Yes. The shipping of the live rock will cause minor death to occur, but you can easily cure the live rock in a separate container with a skimmer and power head.

  • @newyorksteelo wow, that idea never popped into my head and ive even got a separate 220L solid plastic container too haha, thank you so much for all the reply's.

  • please...i beg ya to answer....is 820gph waterflow ok in 33 gallons

  • @justinsnewchannel If it is divided into 2 pumps each giving about 400 gph I would say yes.
