  • gotta love those legs

  • shorts!!

  • @maximilianitoaguirre ♫Who wears short shorts?♫

  • This documentary was made 1 year before I even existed! Crazy!!!!!!

  • Dawkins could of been a male model back in the day! GODAMN

  • @xBlackEditionx He was a delicious little boffin, wasn't he??

  • The God did it argument, is far older than that of William Paley. John Locke used this argument as well as Thomas Equinas. I would expect it goes far beyond those.

  • Thank you Dawkins. This is great stuff.

What I don't understand is - polls say 40+% of Americans believe in Creationism; yet, most youtube videos explaining evolution have mostly likes and most videos with Bill O'Reilly and other nutjobs have mostly dislikes. Is this because the polls are wrong (and Americans mostly don't believed in creationism) or is is because Creationists aren't very active on youtube?

  • @45iceopen Have you thought that it may be that non creationist people from other countries go to those videos too? I for one is from Sweden.

  • @LoverofLiszt That is a good point. Is Sweden as-bad/better/worse than US in terms of percentage of non-creationists?

  • @45iceopen Sense there´s about as many atheists in Sweden (in %) as there are theists in the USA, I´m sure there´s far less creationists here. In 2006, I´m afraid that a poll showed that 14% of swedes see ID as a science, and most of these are active in free churches such as "Livets Ord" (the word of life). 1 small party out of 8 in the government have members supporting ID, one being declared "most misleading of 2005" XD

Hopefully we´ll be first in the world with a fully secular population.

  • Thanx for posting I Don't really have a formal education so this is the next best thing

  • This should be part of the science curriculum in every middle school in the US.

  • Read it in Grad School and now I think Creationists are tools. lol

  • @Casshyr why?

  • The graphics were ahead of their time for sure..great analogies...

  • Dawkins sure was on fire in them hot pants (Satan's clearly jelly!). Even in 240p, his thighs still remain handsome and worthy of envy.

  • Real men watch videos in 240p.

  • Love watching old vids like this. They're remaking the Cosmos series this year, on Fox. Hopefully it will turn a lot of young minds to science.

  • @TrumpetCallofGodLT Tell your holy spirit to blow me

  • @TrumpetCallofGodLT

Ok, well best of luck with that.

  • im currently reading his book "The Greatest Show on Earth" and so far i have loved it

  • @4017jman I ordered it couple of days ago. I have The God Delusion already. Also got The Grand design. if you are into evolutionary biology you should also get his very first book The Selfish Gene. In fact I'd buy all his books except the latest one which is for kids

  • Wow this was going on before I was born and they're still using the same arguements? They still haven't figured it out?!

  • Cretaceous man perhaps stood that way because he was busting to go to the toilet, which unfortunately had not been invented.

  • Wow, old computer and young dawkins.

  • Dawkins was a rather sexy young man wasn't he...

  • who likes short shorts?

  • This is so oooold. Makes me realize how long people like Dawkins have been working to show people how evolution works. How can there still be people who don't understand it??? It's not rocket science! It's explained beautifully here.

  • I wasn't really sure what to expect from this (It's been 24 years since its making), but wow! Didn't know Dawkins was a programmer or that these sorts of arguments against creationism (the eye model) existed back in the 80's. No wonder Dawkins comes across as a bit strident now - he's been making these points for decades. Thanks for sharing!

  • @runzombies read the book ('The Blind Watchmaker, not the holy one).

  • Oh my shit...HE'S YOUNG!

  • lol can't believe how young he looked back then

  • Where can I get the computer program he uses to show cumulative evolution with various shapes and genes? He selects the one looking like a scorpion...

  • @thebroodhn

I'm not sure where you can get his original program, but there is something similar in the description bar called "Endless Forms". It uses the same random mutations but all of the technical stuff is done automatically. All you need to do is pick a shape and evolve it.

  • @bdw5000 tyvm for your answer, I just realized the program needs to be clicked like 5 times before stuff starts showing up

  • Thanks so much for uploading this. I've always wanted to see it. Well done :)

  • Logic...it's a beautiful thing. :)
