Actually, Buckyballs are best because their coating is better. Nanodots are the strongest ones. Don't get me wrong, they're both great! All the other ones are still good, but are more cheaply made.

The neocube case is a metal can with a foam insert to hold the balls when in cube form. How on earth could it "deteriorate quickly", what were you doing to it?

I've compared neocube to nanodots in cube form, I can't tell any difference in the stability of the cube. When in cube form they're not triangulated, so they both have a bit of flex. A small increase in magnetic strength makes no difference there.

My neocube balls show no sign of wear at all.

I can buy steel, black, silver, gold, white, light blue, dark blue, dark red, green, orange and purple from originalneocube.nl (dutch website).

There are also square magnets called "buckycubes" on their website, that's a sort of "buckyballs" name copyright xD.

So "cubes" in neocubes and buckycubes is meaningless and "neo" means "balls" and "bucky" means "cube" according to them. xD I don't know about their quality or the quality of any round magnetic ball brand. Many are called neocubes. :S
