Haa. This is pretty awesome. I love the plot. I think he should save Lily and not James because then the whole mess with Snapey dieing and being a Death Eater and such won't happen, and neither one of them would be dead. :D

I think you're wrong here. If he saves Lily, then the power to defeat Voldemort is gone (where Lily sacrificed herself for her son that protected Harry) so both would die. Plus the whole reason Snape turned good was because Lilly was killed. He would save his father and not Lily so Lily could still save him causing the curse for Voldemort. And, well, in my plot, The Potter bloodline is very important, so that's another reason he was saved, hah!

Still though, I love Snape and I just think he shouldn't have died. But in terms of Voldemort and Harry, you're right, he should save James.
