Is it just me, or does the DS1 Pulse Rifle actually sound a bit meatier than the DS2? The second one sounds like it's lacking some kind of background depth the first one has. Almost like a near-bass level tone to it's firing.

thanks for that sure takes times to make it all and hard work, but some asshole disliked it just in purpose. it's funny how one engineer killed all aliens using only construction weapons lol his not a black ops or professional gun fighter just a specific ship engineer lol the only weapon in this game is actually the pulse rifle IMO.

Line Gun is my favorite, it's juts massive and somewhat practical. However, I use only what he game gives me ammo :'(

Anyway, this really helped me understand those better, thanks! And you forgot an info: max ammo storage. e.g. plasma cutter - 25, line gun - 6, pulse rifle - 100, etc.

@XkcXDeaDEyE Its the Military RIG, you can buy it for 99,000 credits after beating the game one on Normal or higher. (You only really need 49k by the end of the game, completing it gives you 50k)

Anyways, I remember NOT improving the oxygen capacity of my suit in the whole game and having no major problems. Sure I choked to death a few times; but no real issues :P.

makes really upset to know theres a game out there that follows the aliens film to a tee, the atmosphere, necromorph vs xenomoprhs, the pulse rifle, the turret hellicopter is for sure dead give away to the game devolpers own vison of the colonial marine sentry gun. it pisses me off that this game has more suspence like the alien films then the game aliens vs predator does itself.

Well, you could try lowering the difficulty just for the novelty value of using a flamethrower. Personally, I use a half-way upgraded Big Gun Force Gun, and a fully upgraded military plasma cutter as a sidearm for farther enemies.

Upgrade it, aim for the limbs, fire in bursts and make small flame walls. It kicks ass seriously.

Again, shoot in small bursts, otherwise you will use all your ammo up.

aim for the limbs for about a second of continuous fire and then back off, after a few seconds the fire will eat through the limb, the enemy will also flinch if you use the flamethrower on them, finaly you can create sheets of fire in the enemys way so they catch on fire while trying to get to you and then flinch

The linegun(especially stasis and the secondary fire-mode^^) and the plasmacutter are great, the contact beam is great to use aganist brutes or drag tentacles, the force gun knocks down near necromorphs...so get the weapons which you think are the best^^

@Michaelslegend plasma cutter is the first gun you get and its pretty powerful especially against slashers, the line gun is strong and can cut off limps in one hit, the ripper can use its sawblade to sclice enemies from a distance, pulse rifle pretty much sucks coconuts, flame thrower.. well... i dont know about that one.. i bet its good.

The Flamethrower is the biggest waste of ammo and credits, it's the weakest weapon in the game, so don't bother buying it.

I wonder if you played on Impossible, the Best Weapon in the game is the first one, The Plasma Cutter, then it's the Line Gun, believe me, I experienced all of them and even completed the game on Impossible without dying once, so you have to build a strategy.

if its a brand new game, even if you have a completed game, no, you start out like any new game, with nothing...

@cptmacmillan1111 Early necromorphs in hard mode are like:

- 2 shots to take out an arm/head.

- 3 shots to take out a leg.

- ... Or 15 shots to the body.

The good thing is that you trully get the sensation of being alone hopeless; since you sometimes run out of ammo and medipacks and you die in a few hits. Being John Rambo with a ton of weapons and armour fighting monsters is not scary. Being weak and having to fight monsters as strong as you keeps you tense and shaking until the very end.

The thrill of survival horror videogames is to be whimpy and weak, so that you're actually scared of what could come out and kill you. 80% of the horror comes from the fact that you know you could die at any moment if you're not ready for a surprise attack.

Also... What makes you think you'll go back home safe? You'll have to find that at the end of the game! What ending will you get? :)

the max level of the engineer suit is 5, then the military one counts as level 6

Pulse Rifle is another good all around weapon as well as the Contact Beam, although it has its shortcomings at close range. The other weapons though tend to not have the range needed for certain bosses.

Yeah I totally agree. But I hate its secondary firing mode. It drain ammo and hardly do anything good. Lurkers and leapers are shorter than the firing height of the weapon and can close it without being harmed. I also like the flamethrower, cause I want those guys to burn in HELL!(Except in vacuumT-T)

@tubernery in my opinion, the plasma cutter owned everything in terms of limited resources. However the line gun was a good 'primary weapon' for me when I played through. Contact Beam was just too hard to upgrade and all the others just didn't fit my play style. =P

I forgotten where it was. But I'm certain that the line gun schematic is place in an obviuos location, likely somewhere on the way of a mission. The level 5 enginerring suit is a little trickier schematic to look for.

While Dead Space certainly draws from other games, I'm not sure Mass Effect is one of them. Other than the camera being in the same place and the game taking place in space (ACCIDENTAL RHYME FTW) , there aren't really any similarities.

It draws a lot more from Resident Evil and Bioshock, but it certainly brings it's fair share of originality to the table.

That depends on the difficulty you're playing on. It definitely doesn't cut off limbs in one shot on Hard/Impossible mode, even when fully upgraded.

Man the pulse rifle fires for a long time..and it's pretty effective. I rate this as one of the most useful guns in the game
