  • I LOVE your videos! I learned 98% of what I know from you! I just did a large afghan for a friend and sewed my squares together and its falling apart already! I made sure to knot and sew in my tails. This is upsetting since I've been working on it for months. Any advice?

  • Hi Terera, your blanket is very beautiful .I planning to do this live on a vidio. Just starting needs lots of help.Thank you very much for showing.

  • @Sukalya1 I would love to see your video when you get your afghan complete.

  • Hi Teresa! I was wondering if you could post up a video on how to crochet that wonderful granny square that's next to the heart granny square? It's the circle within a square variation that I can see at 4:02 minutes into the video. The one with those beautiful slanted bumps!!! The orange and white one. Do you know which one I'm talking about? I absolutely LOVE your videos and you have inspired me to make my own granny square afghan! Please post up a video for that granny square pattern!!!

  • I just made a beautiful baby afgan with a lovely soft pink, blue and white with a little rose in the corner.

  • @AlexandraAshleyXX It sounds like a beautiful afghan!

  • @tjw1963 Thanks for replying. I'm a big fan :-)

  • @tjw1963 Thanks I'm a big fan :-)

  • @tjw1963 Thanks I'm a big fan :-)

PS if some squares are bulging out u should do a few rows around the whole thing.

  • Ok.This has to be the coolest afghan ever!

  • what do u mean when u say 'ease in'? btw the afghan is really cute!!

  • Im sorry Im a little confused, you put 18 rows of black around each square? ps your videos are awsome!

  • What are you confused about?

  • when you say 18 is are you meaning rows of black around each square?

  • Stitches.

  • ok Gotcha! Thanks so much!

  • do you have online videos for all the squares?

  • I have several square posted.

  • Beautiful afghan, Teresa!! I inherited a lot of squares from my mom-in-law and now know how to put them together!! Thanks!

  • You are welcome.

  • Your video on how to make a granny square really helped me. I am wondering if you have any diagrams to go with your video. I learned to crochet using diagrams and watching my grandmother. I dont know how to read the instructions because I dont know the stitches. Any suggestions

  • Some of my patterns do have symbol charts to go along with the written instructions. You can find a link to my crochet blog under my channel banner on the right of the video under "More info".

  • Looking for a special crochet book by a Chinese/American woman who specializes in designing Afghans.

    Could anyone help please?

  • i am trying to make a blanket made by viennas choice yarn book it is calles sweet pea afghan do you think you can help with it?

  • I am a beginner and was wondering what kind of stitch to use to put an edge around my granny squares before connecting them?

  • i love your work! You're very helpful.

But I have a bunch of granny squares that I want to join together soon and I was just wondering, if all of them had to be the same size? Some of my granny squares date back years, when I was first learning how to do them and they are much smaller than my recent ones. Can I still join them with my larger ones?

  • Thank you for the comment. Determine what size are most of the squares are closest to? You can always make the smaller squares larger and the larger squares can squeeze in to a smaller place. Decide a color for an edging. With my afghan of different squares, I used the same amount of stitches on the edge to even them. I also increased in the corner to keep the corners from pulling up.

  • It does not matter that the square will start with a different amount of stitches. You can do double crochet decreases if some squares have extra stitches. You can also do increases if you find that you need more on some edges. I squeezed in 7 inch squares. They will make it a little full which adds a unique look.

  • Arighty. Thanks:)

  • This is gorgeous!

Do you have a tutorial on how to crochet the square you're sewing on at 2:46?

Or the one in the top left hand corner at 3:42? They look beautiful!

  • I do not have tutorials for either of those squares but a lot of them are on my "TO DO" list.

  • These squares in this video are very beautiful. Do you have the patterns for all these squares?

  • Hi Teresa,

Thanks for your video. I crocheted for years but haven't done any for quite a long time. I couldn't remember how to joing the granny squares. I was sc crocheting them but they were bulky. It's done with the colours of my husbans favourite hockey team. I am going to sc around the edges though. If I can't match the colour I'll use black. Thanks so much.

  • You are welcome. :)

  • wow that's a lot of granny square's

  • Starting to look like the afghan on the back of the Connors couch in the series Roseanne.

  • That is where the black yarn came from. I always liked the afghan on their couch.

  • I have a bunch of squares I have received from people and your video has helped show me how to put them together. Thank you so much for you incredibly amazing inspirational crochet videos.

  • You are welcome. I appreciate the comment.

  • That is absolutely gorgeous! You do such beautifuil work, and you are a very gifted teacher. Your videos are so well done in every way--you inspire all your viewers to be creative, too!

  • Thank you very much. I appreciate the comment.

  • Hi Teresa do you have any tips/videos on edging?

  • You will want to make sure you edging is evenly worked around your afghan.Try to get your length edges and width edges as close as possible with the amount of stitches you are using for each side. For instance if you work 50 single crochet on your width edge, you will want to try to get 50 single crochet on the opposite edge so it does not look uneven.

  • You can edge with a shell, picot, double or single crochet.

  • Wow, that is BEAUTIFUL! Makes me upset that I just gave away bins of beautiful yarn!!! Where can I find the patterns for these granny squares? I only thought there was one or two kinds! I am just in aw over the creativity of this! Keep up the good work!

  • Thank you. There is an endless combination of stitches that can make up granny squares. I have created a playlist on my main channel page of granny squares.

  • how did you do the right puffy square? its the dark blue with the light blue.......I light blue is puffy. Do you have a video on how to make that.

  • I do not have a video but I will in the future.

  • Wow, this is gorgeous! I love how all the squares are different, but my favorite on is the one with the red flower in the center. Do you have a video on how to make that one??

  • I have some of the squares posted.

  • I like that one to with the red flower in middle. Well i learned how to make squares, now i can put them together. I am new to this. Thank you tjw1963 for making it easy.

  • Very beautiful! Do you have all the patterns for all the squares?

  • Thank you. I have very few of them written out but I have been working on it. Most of them I made up as I went along. Since I still have the afghan I can get a pattern from each square.

  • Hi Teresa!!! Your videos are amazing!!! I'm doing an afghan with your help, up to know all I have are classic multicolor granny squares but I`ve seen that there are many designs of granny squares. I found the diamond variation, could you please suggest me where I can find the others? I really like the blue and light blue that is on the right corner at the top! Thank you!

  • I have a granny square blog that I put all my granny designs on. You can find it on my profile on my crochet blog. I will send you the link through youtube mail.

  • thank you so much!! =)

  • You are welcome. :)

  • beautiful!

  • Thank you. :)

  • scrap pieces or not, i believe that this is one of the most beautiful afghans i've seen! i really like how each of the squares are different, it gives it character. thank you for posting the video!

  • I have done 2 of these and have attached them as you have shown - you are very good in the way you demonstrated it -- BUT HOW/WHAT do you do when the tails are too small. I sew it in (like you connected the two squares), and then I cut the tail but eventually it unravels!! Can you help?!

  • Get some washable fabric glue. Use a tiny, tiny dab and make sure it is well hidden between your yarn fibers or it will show. It will help keep it in place. The other thing I have done is to unravel the yarn tail and tie it over another strand of yarn so it stays in one place.

  • how big was this upon completion?

  • Big enough for one person. My husband asked me to make it longer so I am making more squares.

  • So, When you had more than 18 sts on a side, did you do hdc dec's or did you just skip sts altogether?

  • When I had more than 18 stitches, I may skip a stitch if the gap is not to visible. Sometimes I found that it left to large of a gap, so I would do a HDC decrease when the gap was to large.

  • You make everything look soooooooooooo easy!!! Even if I won't be doing this in the near future, I just love watching you!!

  • Don't sell yourself short. There is no reason why you can't do it.

  • For months I couldn't get past the first chain just looking a diagrams in books, you videos have been a Godsend! I've subscribed to your YouTube videos and refer to them endlessly, thank you SO much for taking the time to create and post these, you'll never know how much they have helped me!

  • Thank you. :)

  • Hi, i love your work, i was wondering how do you make those pop up granny squares like the heart, and the flower could you show me or give me website, where you got the pattern that shows a video tutorial how to do it, thankyou again for all your work.

  • I have about 5 squares in the afghan right now that are on video. I will send you a private Youtube message since I can include a video too.

  • When you said you chose "18", was that the number of HDC's on each side of each square?

  • Yes, 18 is the number of HDC that I picked for each side. That does not include the corner increase which was done separate. Some squares may have had 16 stitches, others may have had 21 stitches. When I had to few stitches, I would increase to 18. When I had to many stitches I would decrease to 18.

  • Your videos are the reason I can now crochet. Written instructions never made any sense to me. I have a stack of granny squares now with black edging just like yours (though not as good)--I laughed when I clicked on this video to learn how to piece them together and saw the stack on your couch and the Red Heart Super Saver skein--looks just like my living room right now. Can't wait to get these sewn together because I want to make your cloche hat next. THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • 2 questions lovely lady!

1: could you do demos of a lot of these squares? please??? I love making grannies!

2: Did you happen to do a edging around the entire blanket after posting?

  • Thank you. I have done three already from this afghan. I have not added an edging because my husband suggested that I make the afghan larger, so I am going to be adding some of the demo squares to the afghan. I do plan on doing more tuts. of squares from this afghan.

  • Yes and I love those. I know you are only one person and you also have a life. :) Your grannies just seem so much more interesting and cool than the ones I have found elsewhere. Thank you for all of the fantastic ideas you give and taking the time to help us!!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • It's very inspiring to see all the granny squares pieced together at the end of the video. You put in a lot of hard work and I think it's quite amazing. :-) I'm working on a scarf right now and plan on making a granny square blanket(my first) when I'm done. Your videos are helping me get an idea of how to go about that. Thank you!

  • not perfect? that came out beautiful! its defiantly perfect!

  • you do such an awsome job,and you make it clear to see what you are doing and how to do it. you got it going girl. God Bless

  • wow! i love these granny squares you made! Would you be so kind to show how you made some of the granny pieces? i like the black and the purple one. i like how you put different colours on each of the granny pieces. I love all of your videos! Thank you for sharing them with us!

  • I've just recently started crocheting and I have found your videos quite informative. If there's a question I have about something that I don't quite grasp I come here to look for the answer. So far your videos have answered almost all of my questions. Thank you for taking the time to make and post these videos. I look forward to watching more of them.

  • You are welcome. I do have an e-mail address posted on the main channel page (tjw1963) if you want to e-mail direct. For some reason I am unable to access youtube mail at times.

  • wow!its beautiful

  • Thank you. :)

  • I also love this piece that you are making.

  • Thank you. :)

  • Beautiful! Thank you very much!

I think it would be sad if you did NOT love your work :-)

  • very nice!and easy too!thankyou.

  • Thank you. :)

  • I think this is beautiful! Why wouldn't you enter it into a fair?

Even if it isn't "perfect," art is subjective... I love this afghan!

  • Thank you. I really do love how it looks. Well, I suppose I probably should not think that way towards my work. When I enter contests I try to make things perfect. I would never want to discourage anyone from entering a contest with my words. The object of doing the crochet video's is to promote the art and encourage people through making it simple.
