@dannieldd0 did you watch the other vid? the driver wasnt half as good, and on a 12 mile lap, 9 seconds is easy to lose with missed shifts and bad lines.
Below is a video link of the Viper actually racing at this track during the 24 hr. It's the longer version and the Viper chews on the butts of several Porsche's plus a few others. For full hard on effect I highly suggest headphones! The next time a jackass says a Viper can't go around a corner, simply point them to this vid as it tends to shut them up. /watch?v=AfkX0ZEZOgY
Before I make this statement, I love Top Gear, its one of my favorite shows, but they are afraid to put it around their track. They don't want to even risk the chance of an American car coming close to their lap record.
@TheStallion234 Yeah I thought it was real shitty of Top Gear to overlook the ACR or even just the SRT-10. And its not like there weren't any available in Europe for them to borrow either. I wonder how they'll act when the 2012 Viper hits the streets. Btw, we should get our first peek at it in April.
The Radical is not a production vehicle and doesnt belong on the comparison list, IMHO. Also, the Gumpert was less then one second faster than the Viper. Not friggen bad at all. Lexus has modded their LF-A and it's now called the LF-A 7:11. No doubt it's in reference to the time needed to beat the Viper. It has new front/rear wings and 30+ more HP. I hope it gets ran prior to the new 2012 Viper(which comes out in April). It will give Viper something to chew on.
Radical (SR3 and SR8) ARE street legal and production cars in many EU states, but they are impractical for everyday driving.
You are starting engine like every other engine, driving like every other and pre-heating like every other in racing conditions. So your statements doesnt hold the water.
According to its owner’s manual, the Radical SR8, which occupies the two top spots of the list, needs to be started “with a laptop connected to the ECU so that all engine parameters can be monitored during warm-up.” The recommended warm-up time for the alleged “production, street legal vehicle” is 45 minutes. It needs its engine rebuilt after 30 hours, the drive shafts need to be replaced after 20 hours, and the brake discs must be inspected/replaced after 10 hours. Some production vehicle
@thybigballs Additional start up procedures for the Radical include: "Crank engine to get oil pressure with ignition coils disconnected. Connect coils and turn ignition on. Start engine with no throttle, let engine idle at approximately 2,000-3,000rpm. Check oil pressure is at 60psi minimum. When engine water temperature reaches 50°C, rev engine several times to over 6,000rpm and turn off. Immediately check oil level. The engine oil and filter should be changed every six (6) hours of running."
I dont know where did you find this, but I have been driven in SR8 few months before on local track behind my town. I was talking to owner, and he said, that maintenance od SR8 engine (PoweTec 2.6) asme like for motorbike engines. All depends how you driving. Engine is designed to endure 7500-8000 miles of racing driving, and more than 30-40k miles of normal street driving (EU).
@2jzgtejza80 Ok I found one for 2006 model. Google: 2006 Radical Sr8 Owners Manual
Some of the info I also got was from somewhere else (like the brakes and drive shafts), but it would probably take me a bit to find it. I understand the debate about what is or isn't a production vehicle is a hot topic. This is why I made sure to state I was only giving my opinion about it. I'm ok if others disagree with me about the Radical. It is still one hell of a machine.
Keep in mind the viper doesnt have all these electronic assists at least I read it somewhere it also said it didnt have abs or anything so correct me if im wrong
OEM is OEM. The ACR is designed to let the user tune the shocks and aero package out of the box. The fact that the ripoff LFA has a $300k button that does it for you doesn't make it anymore stock than the ACR used in this video. You can buy this exact same car from the dealer that supplied this one for $100k - $110k depending on the markup. The Viper ACR is one of the fastest street legal track cars in the world and holds the title on most American tracks including the Laguna Seca.
The fact the lfa was only 2 seconds behind using standard bridgestone tires with luxury comfort etc. really doesn't make me care. Yea the lfa will cost more to get but its more of a investment then anything. People can easily buy the car and sell it for more to make a profit which is why toyota/lexus made it so people couldn't immediately do that and if the people who own the lfa's tried to sell them to dealers they would only get back as much as they paid for the car.
@pier456 Don't forget that this car had an extensive race prep setup by Mintgin Motorsport/Vulkan racing. It was not an "out of the box" car. With the LFA you just toggle it to "race" and there you go.
@thybigballs So why would they need to take two vipers that were already in showroom condition to get prepped up by a shop that specializes in vipers? You can't give any excuse because you have nothing to support your claim...
@pier456 If you want more info there is an article in the Viper magazine Sep/Oct issue. Don't hate. It serves no purpose. The record will be challenged soon enough by Lexus with the new LF-A 7:11. No doubt the 7:11 is in reference to the time needed to beat the Viper. It has new front and rear wings and an additional 30 HP. I can't wait to see it make a run. Hopefully they do it before the new Viper comes out. It will give Viper something to go after.
@xflynskywlkr23 So adjusting the ACR's adjustable shocks and wing to fit the track is any difference from having $300K electronics do it for you? Define extensive race prep? I'm sure Toyota did some race prep to their LFA, anyone would be stupid not to.
@klamathpro Of course it different. Unless you think extensive tuning of the suspension and aero to suit a specific track is the same as a "race" button which is tailored to fast driving in general. To answer you second question, i really have no clue if lexus tuned to LFA for the nurburgring run specifically so i wont speculate.
@pier456 The price of the LFA doesn't cover the production costs of it; still the LFA costs A LOT. If you put all the money in the world on a car, of cooourse it's gonna go fast! What's amazing with the viper is that it's not at all like the Gumpert, the LFA and all of those other expensive hyper cars. It's a car for the regular guy, only better.
I highly doubt they needed to ship the acr vipers to add safety equipment on as well... Bottom line. You got a credble source saying the showroom stock vipers were prepped up at another ship and no info on why they went there.
put in ---->Dodge Viper ACR Posts 7:12 Nurburgring Lap Time motortrend<-- i google
i quote "The record was set thanks to a cooperation between three parties: Dodge’s Special Racing Team provided the driver, and Texas Dodge dealership Tomball Dodge provided two showroom-new 2010 Viper ACRs, which were prepped by German racing team Mintgen Motorsport/Vulkan Racing." If the vipers were in showroom condition their is no need for them to be prepped up.
@pier456 well considering most sources are reporting it as a new production car record, i would guess that the prepping consisted of fueling, adjusting the wing, and such. i know for a fact the tires are street legal. nothing that would disqualify it as stock. The ACR-X set a 7:03 the same day. It has many more adjustable features such as suspension and a splitter, maybe that's what the prepping was referring to.
@midflder92 acr-x isn't street legal. Anything could of been done to the Viper ACR. The tires the acr uses are barely street legal lol. The tires the acr and porsche gt2 rs use are even better then the michelin cups on the zr1 and z06 and motortrend already gave their opinion on those tires.
@pier456 prepped means everything that youre supposed to do to any car before you track it, but they added safety equipment which actually adds weight, that is not the stock harness clearly. the wing and suspension are also adjustable so the car remained "showroom stock" in every category that is required otherwise it wouldnt be official. of course, you probably know more than the track officials lol
@ristika89 no you don't get it. if the vipers were in showroom conditions they shouldn't need to be shipped to another company to be prepped up. You don't know what kind of prepped work they are doing. I'm saying this because of the morons hating on the GTR because they think its rigged etc. Its obviously possible the viper acr could of got work done with what i read. Why didn't they even state what they were doing? Anything could happen over there.
@pier456 lmao, i dont get it? that is not the stock harness so somebody had to install it, this was an official lap record. showroom stock just means same weight, same power, no added performance parts, stock tires, no added rigidity.
@ristika89 You obviously don't get it... Showroom stock means driving it right off the showroom floor how it was made without needing prep work etc. Bottom line. We don't know what kind of prep work was done, end of story.
@ristika89 I do not care if a production GTR isn't faster then the ACR viper. the GTR is less powerful and heavier running on tires that don't compare to the michelins on the ACR. Not only that I'm sure the hardcore package was used on the ACR which means pretty much no comfort creatures etc. The ACR is the closest thing to a actual race car than any other car...
@pier456 They adjusted the factory adjustable shocks and wing, nothing else.
No matter how you slice it, the ACR will kill a GTR in almost every test except 0-60. It's lighter, more HP, and pure American pushrod muscle. Vipers were used to dominate the 24 hours of LeMans endurance races in the late 90's. It''s a bulletproof drivetrain that doesn't have the recalls and issues of the GTR's transmission. Search google for these issues.
@klamathpro And where is your source that says that? You are just making claims. Obviously you are stuck in 2008 if you are bitching about transmissions. I do not care if the ACR viper is faster.
@pier456 What you don't get is nothing about this is official racing. it's just for bragging rights and shit talking by car crazy guys. There's no trophies, points, or money. It's similar to saturday night hometown street racing and the lap times on the Top Gear tv show. We all have to hope people were honest, but who knows. Besides, 99.9% of us are just spectators. The Viper that was modded(ACR-X) ran 10 secs quicker, making it the 3rd fastest non-street legal vehicle to ever lap the Ring
how can ppl hate this car? :/ its amazing its one of the best on tracks and looks soo muscular and evil :D viper is my fav car and im european..... <3 viper
@sqion It's called the Pagani Cinque. Are there any Pagani's near $100k? Nope, and the Cinque costs $1.24 million, so if it didn't set a significantly better time than a $100k car, then it would be one of the most overpriced supercars ever. By the way, it was the race version that set that time, not the Cinque. The Cinque would probably set a bit worse of a time.
This is on slick non street legal tires, but I think ACR would still do sub 7:15. ZR1 has 7:19:63 and GT-R only 7:24:22. YEY Love it when American cars rule so that the haters hyperventilate.
@hemipheen Yes you are correct, I appologize. I thought "OEM Michelin Pilot Sport Cup R compound track DOT competition tires" meant they were for competition exclusively.
HA... To read everyone hate is a beautiful thing. Remember this car you can go down to your friendly neighborhood dealer and would be the same ACR that just broke the record, Down to the OEM tires (no mods) You can sqeeze another 100HP out of it with an exhaust system, cold intake and a computer upgraded setting. All you can purchase from the parts department while you wait for you Viper to be prep for delivery! And yes all for around 100 Grand! Life is good to be a viper owner these days!
so a push-rod, N/A alloy truck engined car with a H-pattern gearbox and im sure it only revs to 6 grand... it beat every1 in the world??? lol. wheres the gizillion $ LFA or any mid engined car? not to mention the turbo japs? weird. maybe there is no replacement 4 displacement.
600bhp (or so 520-530rwhp), but that's not important. Old ACR 7:22 had 12 times higher downforce at 130-150mph than standard Viper SRT10. That wing ,what people talking it's rice, helps so much. New ACR set 7:12 because very good sticky tires and downforce is raised to 15 times higher than SRT10. About 1450Ibs downforce, more than ZR1. But ZR1 dont use regular wing, nor ZO6.
@z7MidNighT7z Just so your aware, you do know that the car comes with those tires standard right? If the LFA nurburgring edition already costs a 70 grand premium over the old one, and still cant beat this viper, what does that say to you, in all honesty? Viper costs 1/4 of this cars BASE price. Viper was made for one thing, to be the meanest fastest street legal track machine, and it is. This car was made for some rich japs with small dicks to gloat over friends who only have the normal version.
@z7MidNighT7z "this car" meaning, the LFA Nurburgring edition. And like i said, when you buy that ACR, it comes with those tires, michelin pilot sport cup tires. Street legal, race compound tires.
@sexyitalian891 im not hating , this acr was fast, but if u put this tires in the nissan GTR 2013 , nissan gona made close to 6 mim, the new model 2013 made the ring in 7:16 secs ,
americans are the kings of horsepower allways have been 4sec top fuel dragsters, 426 hemis kicking ass in the 1960s,and 70s what did germany have fast in the 60s or 70s? and this video just puts the icing on the cake.
"The Radical SR8 is a British sports car made by Radical Sportscars that holds the Nürburgring lap time of 6:55. The LM edition holds the Nürburgring lap record for the fastest production car in the world with a time of 6:48"
@ricamk86 Except for the fact that you can't register it as a production car even in the UK. The thing everyone is missing is that there is a loophole in the British registration process that allows the SR8 to be registered as a kit car and last time I checked kit cars aren't production cars. The Radicals would violate several requirements; such as ALL productoin vehicles need ABS as of 2002, Radical doesn't have. It also does not pass pedestrian frontal impact due to not having a windscreen.etc
@91basket ROFL the people at Lexus are probably pissed that their record held for such a short time. XD I wont Lie I was suprised when I heard the Viper took the record so soon after. So are manufatures starting a Ring war now?
@91basket Yeah it is an 600 bhp american very fast car around nurburgring... but still only 10 sec faster than the 355 bhp M3 csl 7:22 min lap... with traffic on the track, passenger and 155mp/h limiter !! i'm glad that america realized that corners exist, but still a lot work to do i'm afraid !
@tbg008 That M3 CSL had a custom supercharger which bumped it to 533 bhp. It doesn't take away from the impressiveness of either car, but I'd imagine the extra 178 bhp from stock would make a bit of a difference...
@jumper1294 lol i've always been an import but i'm actually contracting overseas jsut so i can afford a viper. Well done yankees you've finally made something that does'nt just go fast in a straight line. KUDOS
@fuktheserbs Then how come I can go down to the dealer and get an ACR identical to the one in this video, but you can't do the same with the Radical SR8 or Gumpert Apollo? Those are the only two European cars to set a faster lap time. $120k and worth every cent.
funny how toyota first LEXUS SUPERCAR already got 7:14 and it take VIPER LOTS OF YEARS JUST TO GET THAT 7:12 TIME LOL.....WHO SAID TOYOTA CAN'T BUILT SUPERCAR WHEN THEY ALREADY GOT GT500 CLASS CAR THAT ARE WAY FASTER THAN THESE 2 CARS....TOYOTA ALL THE WAY
@tsab13hmong you are a fucking dumbass. LFA set the record in 2011 august and viper set a new one in september 2011. its talk about a few months. besides the viper is better AND cheaper
@NWA90s MAKE ME LAUGHT VIPER FAN THATS ALL YOU GOT HATE ON THE TOYOTA WHEN YOUR VIPER CAN'T DO SHIT TO TOYOTA FIRST SUPERCAR LOL. AND NOT JUST THAT TOYOTA MORE RELIABLE THAN YOUR CHEAPASS VIPER LOL LEXUS ALREADY SOLD OUT THER CAR WHT ABOUT YOUR CHEAPASS LABOR VIPER YOU SOLD ANY YET LOL
@tsab13hmong They were there with the Vipers for only half a day, what do you mean "lots of years"? And exactly how much time did the LFA spend on the Ring? More than half a day for sure...
@tsab13hmong Really?? You imbecile loll.. Toyota has been making the LFA since 2005 if I'm not mistaken, and it has ALWAYS been overpriced. Hey, has anybody checked the LFA's lap time at Nurburgring (STOCK)?? 7:30++++.. And has anybody noticed how the LFA Nurburgring Edition could do 7:12 but ONLY because it had a ROLLCAGE haha that was just sad. The car had rigidity added because of that rollcage, why do you think the LFA got its ass beaten by the Viper and even Corvette at Laguna Seca? :D
No you're wrong. The LFA's production began on December 2010. The time they started selling them was Spring 2012. Toyota has been NOT been making the LFA since 2005 because the first blue prints first began at early 2000's; hence, they took over 10 years to make the LFA.
This is not bad for Toyota's first take on the SuperCar league.
@CyberGTX09 Hm yeah, the 2005 model and forth were concepts. 2009 was when they showed the production model to the public, so I guess in 2010 it hit the streets like you said. Not bad at all for a first super car by lexus, but still way too high a price tag it's got, and still not delivering like it should.
@tsab13hmong HAHAHA you must be a typical AIDS infested ricer homo faggot. The POS LFA is not worth a quarter of that they are trying to sell it for . nobody cares about a Lexxass LFA = " Love Fuck Ass" , its still a high-reving jappo import that will need its over intricate motor rebuilt every 25,000 miles. and they had to "modify" it to get their times good on the Ring just like what Datsun did with the other queercar GTR.
@Topfueltrooper u must be another redneck bullie fagget that love your cheapass labor viper lol......don't be mad because toyota company its better than your cheapasss gm company that went on a bankrupt a couple of years ago....go cry to the bank for money bitch...oh yea i forgot USA CAN'T BUILT THER OWN RACING CAR LIKE THAT FORD GT, CORVETTE Z06, CORVETTE ZR1, VIPER ACR AND WHY GM COUNT ON EUROPE TECHNOLOGY TO BUILT THER CARS LOL...AMERICAN CARS CAN'T TURN WORTH SHIT GO RESEARCH FAGGET
@tsab13hmong bring it on queerboy ! bring on your POS squinty-eye jappo built POS Datsun or shitbox overpriced imports, and let us run a STOCK ZR1, Viper against your unreliable japaneso garbage. my modded LPE Z06 will rip them anoter ass any day any time, and will be still running and driving when your import homo shit rusts out and blows their sewing machine engines. All you ricer faggots should die now of AIDS, and along with the whore parents that gave birth to you.
@Topfueltrooper talk about LPE Z06 u slowass car ant shit but a bunch of cheapass plastic shit when u crash it won't save your sorryass like how TOPGEAR talk shit about your trash corvette with no different style and trying to be japanese light weight cars and europe technology..lol i guess your just another typical bullie fagget that love to talk about AIDs and nothing else i bet your one of those fagss that got it huh lol i bet your those fags that got cancer and stress so much to survive lol
@Topfueltrooper lol i guess it take a fagget person like you to figure out to beat a lexus lfa on the nurb enough said stop your bitchy mouth already cuzz its toyota first supercar and take mid 1990s-2012 viper hella years to come up with something to beat it ...lol and also nissan gtr first car to the state and your gm company already crying like a lilo bitch just to find a way to beat a v6......stop your crying already enought said---->lexus lfa and nissan gtr atw
@tsab13hmong I hope you realize how infantile and ignorant you sound. "To beat a V6" (Actually, one that incorporates tons of technology aides like AWD, DCT, LC, etc) all GM and Dodge had to do was make a simple RWD and manual transmission. While Lexus and Nissan took forever to come up with a production model out of their concepts (over 5 years to be exact), Dodge and GM were already hitting the tracks and breaking lap records in just a few tries (days.. NOT YEARS like Lexus and Nissan)..
@Tauru55 another fagget that cry for ther poor ass labor viper acr that look like a RICER with a big spoiler with EUROPE technology what else can i said with racing cup tire that make your car fast lol.jap took 10years of work for the lexus lfa and it took mid 1990-2012 viper acr more than 17years to come up with something and viper got a record of 7:22 and got mad because the lexus lfa nur beat its ass at nurb and THE VIPER ACR use RACING CUP TIRE TO GET A 7:12 LOL THAT SHOWYOU HOW STUPID U R
@tsab13hmong You are completely retarded. the ACR was introduced in 1999 one model was released and it wasnt re-released until 2008. So your little 17 year speech is shit. They took only 9 months to create the new ACR and another 11 months to redefine the ACR in 2011. Thats only about 5 years of research and development to get it right. As for your little japanese piece of shit that couldnt drive without the help of 5 trillion computers fuck off. The Viper is what a true race car is about.
@Tauru55 lol i'm not ignorant like your cry baby gm fan like i been saying to other cry baby.....don't ya love japanese new technology car lol....pretty sad to see viper acr and corvette lose to japanese car at the track such as LEXUS LFA NURB AND NISSAN GTR and GM COMPANY GOT POORASS CAR TECHNOLOGY AND GOT TO USE EUROPE TECHNOLOGY TO BEAT JAPANESE SPORTCAR...TELL GM COMPANY TO STOP CRYING because they got lowlife people like ya cheering for them...lol
@tsab13hmong Soooo why are there more American Cars in the top 10 fastest production car times then Japanese?... Fuck your stupid Japanese cars that need 5 trillion computers to keep that thing going in a straight line. Do you realize that the Viper accomplished that with no TC SC ASM?.. no you dont because your probably 15 y/o and have no idea what it takes to build a true race car. BTW the ACR came out in 99' and then re-released in 08.. not 17 years stupid ass..
@tsab13hmong but the LFA costs a gzillion $ and the GTR has 2 turbos . the viper is reasonably priced and has push-rods... i just dont get how horse-and-cart technology can beat money and forced induction and all the computing power... maybe Dodge just got the basics right, and maybe thats wat a tru race car is, man and machine , not man-computer-machine. but dont worry this lap record will be beatn probebly by somthin with a artificial brain, forced induction and flappy paddle shift thingyz
@tsab13hmong and its OBVIOUS your a typical import faggot, with your excuses and whining. you hate the fact that your Datsun and Lexass gets BEAT 90 % of the time by American & European REAL cars. One day you will grow up unless you die in a crash in your POS jap import or of Ricer-AIDS. The sooner the better. Nuff said.
@xbowracing This form of lapping is the current trend, since the GTR famous fast laps were done this way. It is because it allows to start directly from the pits and at the end enter again to the pits, wihout having to do another complete cooling lap (although in this vid the Vipe doesn't exploit that possibility). The lap is cut by 3-4 seconds (depending on the car) respect to a really complete lap. That is why the Stefan Bellof Porsch 956 record is now stated as 6:08 instead of clasic 6:11.
Ah, ok! Thanks for explaining! In my opinion this form of timing is misleading. Good reasons for doing it this way, but for me a lap time is a LAP-time and not a PART-OF-LAP-Time...
@ClubbySuperCharged Then the ZR1's time is far more impressive. Achieving that time with hardly any rear end downforce is far more difficult than having a Boeing sized wing attached. A Viper is and always be a copy of the Corvette. All you have to do is look at the God damned thing. Hmm, long nose, two seater, low to the ground. What car can we copy and fool folks by calling it something catchy.
@dasds100 Look at the first Corvette platform (C1), it doesn't resemble an E-Type at all. Corvette's have never been "bullet nosed" like Jaguar E-Types.
@tripleheshy A Viper is a copy? Look at the SRT10s and C6s. They look basically exactly alike. The problem is the SRT10 came out in 2003 while the C6 came out in 2005. Who's copying who?
Respect pour la perf, mais avec quels pneus ? Sur la dernière c'était des Pilot Sport Cup non ? C'est quand même autre chose que les Potenza S001 de la LFA...
It's funny to see how they took 9 seconds from the previous vid without any upgrades in the car...

Radical (SR3 and SR8) ARE street legal and production cars in many EU states, but they are impractical for everyday driving.
You are starting engine like every other engine, driving like every other and pre-heating like every other in racing conditions. So your statements doesnt hold the water.
2jzgtejza80 1 week ago

The Viper ACR is one of the fastest street legal track cars in the world and holds the title on most American tracks including the Laguna Seca.
klamathpro 1 month ago
@klamathpro Lfa isn't a ripoff... if lexus/toyota didn't know what could happen people could buy the lfa and sell for a profit...
pier456 1 month ago
The fact the lfa was only 2 seconds behind using standard bridgestone tires with luxury comfort etc. really doesn't make me care. Yea the lfa will cost more to get but its more of a investment then anything. People can easily buy the car and sell it for more to make a profit which is why toyota/lexus made it so people couldn't immediately do that and if the people who own the lfa's tried to sell them to dealers they would only get back as much as they paid for the car.
pier456 1 month ago
@pier456 Don't forget that this car had an extensive race prep setup by Mintgin Motorsport/Vulkan racing. It was not an "out of the box" car. With the LFA you just toggle it to "race" and there you go.
xflynskywlkr23 1 month ago
@xflynskywlkr23 Yea i mentioned that in my earlier posts. I am just setting the record straight that anything could of been done to the viper.
pier456 1 month ago
@pier456 Nothing was done to the Viper for this run except to turn the key and push the red button.
thybigballs 4 weeks ago
@thybigballs So why would they need to take two vipers that were already in showroom condition to get prepped up by a shop that specializes in vipers? You can't give any excuse because you have nothing to support your claim...
pier456 4 weeks ago
@pier456 Perhaps you will notice the 5 point safety harness the driver is wearing
thybigballs 4 weeks ago
@thybigballs Perhaps you forget the fact that YOU DON'T KNOW what could of been done to the car. End of story.
pier456 3 weeks ago
@pier456 If you want more info there is an article in the Viper magazine Sep/Oct issue. Don't hate. It serves no purpose. The record will be challenged soon enough by Lexus with the new LF-A 7:11. No doubt the 7:11 is in reference to the time needed to beat the Viper. It has new front and rear wings and an additional 30 HP. I can't wait to see it make a run. Hopefully they do it before the new Viper comes out. It will give Viper something to go after.
thybigballs 4 weeks ago
@thybigballs i am not hating i am simply pointing things out. Their is no info on it so whatever you say has no basis.
pier456 3 weeks ago
@xflynskywlkr23 So adjusting the ACR's adjustable shocks and wing to fit the track is any difference from having $300K electronics do it for you? Define extensive race prep? I'm sure Toyota did some race prep to their LFA, anyone would be stupid not to.
klamathpro 1 month ago
@klamathpro Of course it different. Unless you think extensive tuning of the suspension and aero to suit a specific track is the same as a "race" button which is tailored to fast driving in general. To answer you second question, i really have no clue if lexus tuned to LFA for the nurburgring run specifically so i wont speculate.
xflynskywlkr23 1 month ago
@pier456 The price of the LFA doesn't cover the production costs of it; still the LFA costs A LOT. If you put all the money in the world on a car, of cooourse it's gonna go fast! What's amazing with the viper is that it's not at all like the Gumpert, the LFA and all of those other expensive hyper cars. It's a car for the regular guy, only better.
ohedd 1 month ago
@ohedd the viper acr isn't made for a regular guy LOL.
pier456 1 month ago
@pier456 Well not handling wise, lol. But if you compare the price of the Viper with that of the LFA, there's no question about it.
ohedd 1 month ago
I highly doubt they needed to ship the acr vipers to add safety equipment on as well... Bottom line. You got a credble source saying the showroom stock vipers were prepped up at another ship and no info on why they went there.
pier456 1 month ago
viper isn't even showroom stock lol
pier456 2 months ago
@pier456 actually it is. i could've walked into a dodge dealer two years ago and bought an acr
midflder92 1 month ago
@midflder92 its actually not lol.
put in ---->Dodge Viper ACR Posts 7:12 Nurburgring Lap Time motortrend<-- i google
i quote "The record was set thanks to a cooperation between three parties: Dodge’s Special Racing Team provided the driver, and Texas Dodge dealership Tomball Dodge provided two showroom-new 2010 Viper ACRs, which were prepped by German racing team Mintgen Motorsport/Vulkan Racing." If the vipers were in showroom condition their is no need for them to be prepped up.
pier456 1 month ago
@pier456 well considering most sources are reporting it as a new production car record, i would guess that the prepping consisted of fueling, adjusting the wing, and such. i know for a fact the tires are street legal. nothing that would disqualify it as stock. The ACR-X set a 7:03 the same day. It has many more adjustable features such as suspension and a splitter, maybe that's what the prepping was referring to.
midflder92 1 month ago
@midflder92 acr-x isn't street legal. Anything could of been done to the Viper ACR. The tires the acr uses are barely street legal lol. The tires the acr and porsche gt2 rs use are even better then the michelin cups on the zr1 and z06 and motortrend already gave their opinion on those tires.
pier456 1 month ago
@pier456 prepped means everything that youre supposed to do to any car before you track it, but they added safety equipment which actually adds weight, that is not the stock harness clearly. the wing and suspension are also adjustable so the car remained "showroom stock" in every category that is required otherwise it wouldnt be official. of course, you probably know more than the track officials lol
ristika89 1 month ago
@ristika89 no you don't get it. if the vipers were in showroom conditions they shouldn't need to be shipped to another company to be prepped up. You don't know what kind of prepped work they are doing. I'm saying this because of the morons hating on the GTR because they think its rigged etc. Its obviously possible the viper acr could of got work done with what i read. Why didn't they even state what they were doing? Anything could happen over there.
pier456 1 month ago
@pier456 lmao, i dont get it? that is not the stock harness so somebody had to install it, this was an official lap record. showroom stock just means same weight, same power, no added performance parts, stock tires, no added rigidity.
ristika89 1 month ago
@ristika89 You obviously don't get it... Showroom stock means driving it right off the showroom floor how it was made without needing prep work etc. Bottom line. We don't know what kind of prep work was done, end of story.
pier456 1 month ago
@pier456 let me know when a "showroom stock gtr" beats the record then lol
ristika89 1 month ago
@ristika89 I do not care if a production GTR isn't faster then the ACR viper. the GTR is less powerful and heavier running on tires that don't compare to the michelins on the ACR. Not only that I'm sure the hardcore package was used on the ACR which means pretty much no comfort creatures etc. The ACR is the closest thing to a actual race car than any other car...
pier456 1 month ago
@pier456 They adjusted the factory adjustable shocks and wing, nothing else.
No matter how you slice it, the ACR will kill a GTR in almost every test except 0-60. It's lighter, more HP, and pure American pushrod muscle. Vipers were used to dominate the 24 hours of LeMans endurance races in the late 90's. It''s a bulletproof drivetrain that doesn't have the recalls and issues of the GTR's transmission. Search google for these issues.
klamathpro 1 month ago
@klamathpro And where is your source that says that? You are just making claims. Obviously you are stuck in 2008 if you are bitching about transmissions. I do not care if the ACR viper is faster.
pier456 1 month ago
@pier456 What you don't get is nothing about this is official racing. it's just for bragging rights and shit talking by car crazy guys. There's no trophies, points, or money. It's similar to saturday night hometown street racing and the lap times on the Top Gear tv show. We all have to hope people were honest, but who knows. Besides, 99.9% of us are just spectators. The Viper that was modded(ACR-X) ran 10 secs quicker, making it the 3rd fastest non-street legal vehicle to ever lap the Ring

sqion 2 months ago
@sqion It's called the Pagani Cinque. Are there any Pagani's near $100k? Nope, and the Cinque costs $1.24 million, so if it didn't set a significantly better time than a $100k car, then it would be one of the most overpriced supercars ever. By the way, it was the race version that set that time, not the Cinque. The Cinque would probably set a bit worse of a time.

This is on slick non street legal tires, but I think ACR would still do sub 7:15. ZR1 has 7:19:63 and GT-R only 7:24:22. YEY Love it when American cars rule so that the haters hyperventilate.
ohedd 3 months ago
@ohedd Those are the exact tires you get when you buy the car, and yes they are street legal.
hemipheen 3 months ago
@hemipheen Yes you are correct, I appologize. I thought "OEM Michelin Pilot Sport Cup R compound track DOT competition tires" meant they were for competition exclusively.
ohedd 3 months ago
Life is good to be a viper owner these days!

xb250power 3 months ago
@xb250power
2jzgtejza80 3 months ago
dude this viper was using racing tires
z7MidNighT7z 4 months ago
@z7MidNighT7z Just so your aware, you do know that the car comes with those tires standard right? If the LFA nurburgring edition already costs a 70 grand premium over the old one, and still cant beat this viper, what does that say to you, in all honesty? Viper costs 1/4 of this cars BASE price. Viper was made for one thing, to be the meanest fastest street legal track machine, and it is. This car was made for some rich japs with small dicks to gloat over friends who only have the normal version.
sexyitalian891 4 months ago
@z7MidNighT7z "this car" meaning, the LFA Nurburgring edition. And like i said, when you buy that ACR, it comes with those tires, michelin pilot sport cup tires. Street legal, race compound tires.
sexyitalian891 4 months ago
@sexyitalian891 im not hating , this acr was fast, but if u put this tires in the nissan GTR 2013 , nissan gona made close to 6 mim, the new model 2013 made the ring in 7:16 secs ,
srry for bad spelling , im just learning english

"The Radical SR8 is a British sports car made by Radical Sportscars that holds the Nürburgring lap time of 6:55. The LM edition holds the Nürburgring lap record for the fastest production car in the world with a time of 6:48"
google it....
ricamk86 4 months ago
@ricamk86 Except for the fact that you can't register it as a production car even in the UK. The thing everyone is missing is that there is a loophole in the British registration process that allows the SR8 to be registered as a kit car and last time I checked kit cars aren't production cars. The Radicals would violate several requirements; such as ALL productoin vehicles need ABS as of 2002, Radical doesn't have. It also does not pass pedestrian frontal impact due to not having a windscreen.etc

tbg008 2 months ago
@tbg008 That M3 CSL had a custom supercharger which bumped it to 533 bhp. It doesn't take away from the impressiveness of either car, but I'd imagine the extra 178 bhp from stock would make a bit of a difference...

Tauru55 5 months ago
@Tauru55
CyberGTX09 5 months ago
@CyberGTX09 Hm yeah, the 2005 model and forth were concepts. 2009 was when they showed the production model to the public, so I guess in 2010 it hit the streets like you said. @tsab13hmong I hope you realize how infantile and ignorant you sound.

@alamos8
Ah, ok! Thanks for explaining! In my opinion this form of timing is misleading. Good reasons for doing it this way, but for me a lap time is a LAP-time and not a PART-OF-LAP-Time...

@ClubbySuperCharged Stick a rear wing that huge on a ZR1 and we'll see about that.

@tripleheshy Keep whining, stock VS stock.
ClubbySuperCharged 5 months ago
@ClubbySuperCharged Then the ZR1's time is far more impressive. Achieving that time with hardly any rear end downforce is far more difficult than having a Boeing sized wing attached. A Viper is and always be a copy of the Corvette. All you have to do is look at the God damned thing. Hmm, long nose, two seater, low to the ground. What car can we copy and fool folks by calling it something catchy.
tripleheshy 5 months ago
@tripleheshy Doesn't work. A Corvette is still a Corvette. And it will always lose to its competitors. Nuff said.
ClubbySuperCharged 5 months ago
@tripleheshy if u think like this a corvette is only a copy of an old Jaguar E-tipe
dasds100 5 months ago
@dasds100 Look at the first Corvette platform (C1), it doesn't resemble an E-Type at all. Corvette's have never been "bullet nosed" like Jaguar E-Types.
tripleheshy 5 months ago
@tripleheshy A Viper is a copy? Look at the SRT10s and C6s. They look basically exactly alike. The problem is the SRT10 came out in 2003 while the C6 came out in 2005. Who's copying who?
