  • gosh i love her hair XD

  • the geikos younger sister is adorable.

  • so noone can go to a tea house to dine with maiko and geisha unless they are rich and famous??? does not sound fair to me!!!

  • @suichi98 No you just have to know someone who is already "inside". Dont have to be rich or famous. Still may not sound fair, but it so the wrong people dont come in. Like those who have the misconception that geisha or geiko are prostitutes.

  • @suichi98 like they said, if it was open to everyone, what value would it have?

  • You know...I've always wondered about geisha anthropology--that is, who took the time to sit down to decide all rules and the responsibilities. Nothing wrong, if anything, very beautiful.

I've taken classes in psychology and sociology, so I do wonder about it. XD

  • She used to work as a secretary....so how old was she when she became a geisha? Do they still follow an age restriction to becoming a geisha?

  • @looker768

As far as i know they become Geiko (Geisha) at the age of 20

  • She début as a Jikata Geiko (musicians). That's usually the direction they take when they become Geiko at an older age. Though once in a blue moon there are ladies that début as Geiko and become Tachikata (dancers).

  • WOW, she's an amazing dancer! When they were talking about her passion for the shamisen.

  • Makoto is a 'Natori Geiko' . Meaning that she has mastered Inoue Kyo-mai dance (the dance style that Gion Kobu Geiko & Maiko dance). The dance she is dancing is called 'Kurokami' or 'Black hair'.

  • By the way, "natori" means literally "take a name", as at that time the artist gets a special name to use in relation with that art. I wonder how it is for geiko. Probably they also get a different name just for the dance, although they would use their geisha name when still active geisha...

Seems the most likely, but Inoue school is a bit special as it is so strongly linked to a specific geisha district; it might be different than for other schools linked to broader dance schools...

  • @osbourn16 oh yes she is truly a very good dancer and she is just so beautiful, does there other more Videos of Makoto exists? or where can I enjoy it? thx
