Completely agree with you, HATE watching videos of people slamming down the bolt.. I just got a 91/30 and I'm trying to figure out as much about it as possible before shooting it, GREAT tip on how to release the cocking mechanism, I'll probably be using that from now on.
I saw in another video to release the cocking mechanism by half way moving the bolt down, then pulling the trigger, which then finishes the rest of the cycle... it that a bad way of doing that?
@DS08 Thats a method by its pointless, seeing as the purpose of holding the cocking piece is to stop the parts of the bolt from slamming together with no round in the chamber. When you leave the bolt half way down, everything inside it slams together. I dont use it.
i love my 91/30, but mine is the most inaccurate piece of shit i've ever owned. It can't even hit a man sized target at 100 yards and at 50 yards its got about a 3ft radius grouping. I'm getting ready to get a vz.24 czech mauser and an m44 carbine though so i hope i have better luck with those.
@northeasthawk You have to have a proper form when firing a Russian weapon. Just lean into the gun, put the butt firmly into you shoulder, and hold the trigger in until the rifle is done firing. If your up straight, stiff, or you don't put the butt in the right place. You could hurt yourself. Hope this helps.
Its MO' SIN not MOI' SIN. A spetsnaz guy will crash though your window and choke your dog with his balls! If you say moisin again.... I'M just saying.
@ZombieHunter19 how bout you go do something useful with your time other than spending your life on youtube telling people how they should pronounce words that would be appreciated
@mauser3846 Man the sense of humor here is dryer then the Mojave. I mean i said a Spetsnaz guy would crash though your window and choke your dog with his balls. How could you possibly take that comment seriously? I'M just saying.
for anyone with a mosin nagant, it does not affect accuracy to shoot them with the beyonet out, they have no effect on the accuracy of the rifle, people say it helps with the balence but it does not, how could a bayonet that only wheighs about 1 pound effect a 8 pound rifle. with the bolt problem all you need to do is clean and oil it they are super easy to take apart, or relace the spring that is what i have done to 2 m44 and 3 91/30s
that may be true for mosins that don't have the bayonets permanently attached, but the M-44 is a different story. take one out, and fire 5 rounds with the bayonet folded, and 5 rounds with the bayonet out, at the same target at 100 yds. your groups will be at least 10" apart.
the m44 with the bayonet was sighted in with the bayonet attached and extended so yes it does if you dont believe then i guess myself and anyone who has one is a liar and the manual if you have one tells you that it is.
Because this rifle was sighted in origionally with the bayonet out and if it hasnt been resighted in the bayonet will have to be out for it to achive accuracy all mosin nagants are like this even the 91/30's
yeah, looks like an izhevesk, just a tip if u get a m91/30 aswell u'll need the bayonet to get awesome groups just like the m44 as they were both sighted with it fixed
yeah thanks for the tip iv shot my 91/30's with the bayonets when i first got them i wasnt trying for groups i just wanted to see if it worked as a muzzle break ill have to try that, Iv read that before my groups are good it just shoots about 4 inches to the right maybe the bayonet will solve the problem, thanks
The correct pronunciation of "Mosin Nagant" is MOsin Nagant. There is no "i" like "Moisin Nagant". The original designers, Sergei Mosin and Leon Nagan put their names together in the name of it, however, somewhere in translation, there was a "t" added to the end of Nagan. So Mosin Nagant is the English way to say it. Check out my channel for more vids on MN rifles.
no its not look at the ballistic tables there is no difference in accuracy until about 500 meters and most infantrymen didnt shoot at anything over 300 meters. Even after 500 meters its just bullet drop my m44 is much more acurate than both my 91/30's
ya im talking about past 500meters....thats why alot of ppl upgraded them to snipers....and pretty much all russian snipers prefered the 91/30 over the m44 because of its improved accuracy...i not hatting on it...i also have a yugoslavian mouser....24/47
yea but where the in average infantry man is going to be shooting is under 400 yds and until 500 yds there is no difference u are right about being a sniping weapon when your going to be shooting past 500 yds
I have a 1946 Izhevsk M44 that's unissued, never rearsenaled and factory matching metal parts, even the stock is original to the rifle. I've put a few rounds down range to test the "bayonet harmonics" theory and there is no difference in the groups. Maybe it's just a myth, or maybe my rifle is weird. Dunno.
i think your right about the bayonet hamonics. what i think is that if you were to remove it frome the rifle that would make the sites off and they would have to be resighted in again
what r u talking about? i never mentioned the k98 and all 98 mausers are the same action wise and the mechanisims of the trigger assembly and rifleing design are the same. the only difference between a German and a Yugo is the intermediate action on a yugo they are all derivatives from the Gewehr 98 the German ww1 infantry rifle i dont think u know much of what ur talking about seeing as its spelled MAUSER not masuer
sweet rifles, i have a pair of laminated stock M44's on oder, waiting to recieve them in 8weeks or so.
great theat you mentioned how people slam and hit the bolts on the nagants, not neccessary, it upsets me also, i just say "do it to yours i dont care, do it to my rifle and i wont let you use it again" LOL
try to put some sort of gun oil on the bolt but it helps if when ur shooting every like 20rds swab out the chamber that helps i have to do that with my 91/30 the ammo can do it too like bulgarian ammo dosent stick
u want to have the bayonet out cause with the bayonet being part of the rifle and being mounted off to the side it throws off the center of gravity and can make the bullet hit left or right of the target but with the bayonet out it will shoot straight
is your barrel a little corroded or not or is the barrel as good as a brand new rifle. i am just curios because i got mine and the barrel is a little corroded the reason i wanted tho know is so i can cinda gauge the accuracy of mine. thanks
the one on my m44 is like a new rifle i dont think it had alot of use but my 1942 91/30's bore is a little corroded but it still shoots very accurate. I already told u about my turkish mauser and that still shoots ok.
Beautiful M44, Love the wood work. And the finish looks great. And I hear ya brother, people that bang those bolts piss me off too, just learn to clean it properly and its no prob.

@nascarf50 I affect barrel harmonics. How the barrel vibrates, and thus, how the bullet flies.
