yeah its fuckin gay that the judges was just one person. and really out of 801 videos, 550 were disqualified??? wow, i wonder if they disqualified videos for stupid reasons too, like if that ONE JUDGE didnt think it was funny.

but what pissed me off the most was after i saw this video they didnt have an "expert pannel of judges". if there was only one judge to cover everything, thats not fair for all the people who spent money renting equipment and long slave hours doing their skit. this person can get lazy looking over 800 vids alone.. no wonder they disqualified 500. people are going to be bitter of losing, its apart of being human, but what makes them pissed is that they weren't being judged fairly
there were some cool enteries in the semi-finalists. i just dont understand how i can generate over 50k hits and have so many people favoring it but still not get in the semi's? at first i accepted my loss and assumed that the judges didn't like asian humor. well from the looks of it, even the caucasians seem to be upset with the semi's. i think people felt cheated because most folks will accept their loss if the winners were superior in all aspects and deserved their place in the next round

The truth of the matter is that their is a political bias on YouTube as well as other social media sites. All of the 20 are big players in the YouTube communities and have cultivated rather large followings, to have them not win would be to ask for a bigger backlash than their already is with those who are not as recognized in the YouTube community.

And Mediocre Films, who I thought for sure would get in due to his huge following, didn't. Not saying you're wrong, just saying there ARE examples on the other side.
You have to remember that there IS a formula for TV spots and that's the kind of humor these folks were obviously looking for. How many TV ads can you say are really, truly hilarious? I mean, people everywhere lauded the Bud frogs, for instance.
Gee, so you're claiming that all of the people in the top 20 are conveniently hackers? People can hack into almost anything; and we should knee-jerk ourselves into disbelief that most (or all) of these top 20 got in on their own merits? I mean, we are talking about non-professional video here.

Patience and consistency are both key in having even moderate success on YouTube. Always try to stand out and never be conventional. It's worked for us so far. Thing is... We've been on YouTube a year and a half and we only have 1572 subs. Don't expect to be famous. Just make videos because you want to make videos. The rest is icing.
As for opinions about particular entries, I think people are BOUND to have different thoughts about that, and I value other peoples' hard work too much to be the dick who thinks MY opinion about HUMOR is intrinsically correct and should be shared with everyone without evidence, as fact.

OK, Michael. I just watched your video and it is actually quite good. I have no problem with that being in the semi-finals. It's obvious you don't really need the production equipment but that's not what the competition is about. That was a very good entry.

I hate to break it to you dude, but I watched a TON of the entries, and what got selected (including ours, which you can totally hate if you want...doesn't bother me) is a pretty representative selection of what's out there. It's not like there's all these fucking brilliant hilarious ones that got mysteriously overlooked. What they chose is what was submitted. Their methods could have been biased or faulty (looks like they were), but don't expect the Youtube community to suddenly be Seinfeld.
On a side note, the semi-finalists were vanilla with the exception of waverlyflams. Knock-offs, dude. Slick-looking knock-offs. I'm happy you got in but don't you think you should sit this conversation out? Of course you approve of the semi-finalists, you have a LOT to lose now.
Why should I sit out? It's equally obvious for people who didn't get in to DISapprove. I see no difference. here is my to cents, in the rules for sketchies 2, it says semi-finalists will be notified on or around march 7th... deadline was march 3rd, if it was one person, i tell you thats quick to come up with 20 semi finalists with all of the videos that were submitted...

You are right on the money man. If they need to extend the contest to do so they need to. Youtube has to do something to justify what's happened at this point. I never thought my video could win. But I do think that some of the videos I watched should have made it to the top 20.
