I first saw this in the last class hour at school 40 years ago. (I had just made an awesome trade to get the two Topps Football cards that completed the 1972 collection. They were burnng a hole in my shirt pocket, I could not wait to get them home!) That sort of distracted me, so I didn't really understand what the movie was about. Now, all this time later, I realize what a magnificent, unabashed allegory about Christ "The Red Balloon" is.
At 2:57, why did the principal lock Pascal in that room? (I wonder if it was the principals office). Pascal didn't do anything wrong, it was the red balloon that was flying around and distracting the class. I wonder if he was angry at Pascal for bringing the balloon to school which is why he locked Pascal in there.
