  • to whom it may concern, this piece originally written for organ was called Prelude and Fugue in C Major BWV 553, not to be confused with the BWV 846.

  • @gamerfreak5665 thank you so much!!!

  • It's hard to believe that a man could make such a beautiful piece for church in one week.

  • I'm number 60! playing this as a band in middle school

  • I wish there was a guitar part for this, or even a guitar version...

  • wonderful wonderful the best quality

  • I am playing this in my high school band. It does not sound a good because we lack a talented bass section... Most of our woodwinds are sounding pretty good though.

  • @Marissa223Marie When I was in high school band back in 1970, we did this as part of the winter concert. After going to a "Bach Bowl" concert at Emory University where several preludes & fugues were played on harpisochord, I had to find this and see if it's what I remember, which I do.

  • i play first chair piccolo/flute in my wind ensemble, and playing it alone sounds so weird!!! the bass really completes this song

  • it sounds sooo amazing! our band teacher teacher didnt give us 2nd french horn so we only hav one part of the soli which is sad.

  • I played this for concert band, my french horn part sounded so lovely on this song it was my favorite

  • I play the horn too :) I actualy think that for band, common time is better than cut time.

  • My highschool band played this and got a 1 at state!

  • @GrEyPaLaCeBaLLet we re playing this right after spring break at county then state

  • @rritss Good luck :)

  • This song is so beast. Tuba represent!

  • We're playing this right now in my High School Concert Band, I love it. I play first clarinet and, even though the high notes are annoying and super hard to hit at times, I think this piece is amazing :D

  • This is a beautiful piece. I can't find it on iTunes...! Does anyone know how I could download it ???

  • does anyone know what was the original key or # this piece is? for piano?

  • I loved this song when we played it in my High School band, took us forever to get it right but when we did it sounded incredible! My favorite part of this piece is still Fuge by far, it is just so beautiful!

  • I love this song-one of my favorites :)

  • bari horn all the way

  • I'm only in a school band however we are playing this as one of our concert selections,I've heard it before and love it! Also I'd like to point out that we play it in cut time, not sure how it's played here but yea.

  • this piece is so pretty

  • Very lovely song. <3

Sounds great, and very rarely does the baritone have the melody in a song. =D

  • you are my heroes

  • go horns!

  • Could anyone tell me what the BWV number is for this piece, please?

  • @Scifinutthrawn kind of a late comment, but the BWV number is 553

  • this song hasnt ever left my head since i played it in my concert band two years ago, its just so beautiful:)

  • I play first horn on this piece. Beautifully arranged, absolutely love playing it, not too hard either. The little soli at the end is fun!! 0:45 is definately one of the best parts of the piece.

  • I play Bari sax in band and I rock this piece bcz the band is nothing without basses, am I right?

  • @TwilightsBolvine2737 yup, even though i play horn, the bass is important especially to this piece

  • @gamerfreak5665 i agree both of you...but GO BRASSS!!!!!!! lol trumpet. Our bari sax is kindof a jerk lol but hes cool. im dating a french horn and just go brasss and basses!!! ( string bass is meh favorite)

  • @gamerfreak5665 This isn't played in cut time though..

  • @FearlessJesusFreak this is the recording by the Belwin band though, this is not my band. We did play this a lot faster and in cut time in the second part.

  • @gamerfreak5665 yeah wer're doing 4/4 int he prelude then cut in the fugue

  • @FearlessJesusFreak in our band its played in cut time

  • @FearlessJesusFreak this is in cut time

  • @FearlessJesusFreak ikr!!! when i played this in junior districts, we definitely did this in cut time. makes it more exciting...plus that's the only way i'd b able 2 play this piece good enough on my trombone hahahaha

  • @gamerfreak5665 i play upright bass for this. even though there isn't a bass part. muahahaha

  • @TwilightsBolvine2737 woot tenor!!!

  • Good stuff.

  • Just did this for All-County! Trumpetttt(:

  • Excellent recording! Trumpet!

  • I played the Piccolo. It was awesome. Hahaha. I love this piece, by far my favorite. Rivaled only by Godzilla eats Las Vegas.

  • 1st clarinet when i was in grade 9!

    i loved this song!

  • played this song in grade 10 concert band! so much fun! played 1st flute haha. it was an amazing song. = D

  • I played tenor sax for it in grade ten

  • Euphonium :)

  • It's weird hearing it like this; I play tuba and hear the bass stuff a lot louder than this all the time, for obvious reasons. We don't have specific chairs, so I'm in the middle of our five tubas. I think I'm first chair (can you tell I used to play the trumpet? haha), but I love being surrouned by bass.

  • ahmen

i play Bari sax because the Basses rock

  • oh i totaly agree. i play bass clarinet(next year contralto!!!) and at the beginning i get to play a forte low E. andd the first ending in the prelude..it's awsommee

  • I play Bass Clarinet as well! :D ♥ and I felt the same haha~

  • Contra is really fun...

i have played Bb clarinet (6thl) Bb Bass clarinet(first month of 7th) Eb Contr alto Clarinet (rest of 7th)...

but we needed a Bari in my 8th grade year

  • haha this song was a bit tricky at first but some early morning practices helped with that, go flutes!

  • Trumpet :D.

  • Im playing this song right now :D.

  • I play trombone also. I played first chair on this and we do have the Quarter notes during prelude which are the most important.

  • According to youtube, an actual organ version of this doesn't exist. May this prelude and fugue possibly be transposed?

I'll throw my two cents in too. I played second clarinet on this and especially loved having the minor 7th of the V7 chord on the last cadence of the prelude.

  • @ChopinIdol

An organ version does exist, as I've heard it performed live. Whether or not youtube has a version of it I can't say.

  • @sachiejaganashi26

Aye I do believe it exists somewhere, but i was speaking in parameters of youtube and any other music providing venue

  • I play the trombone. anyone else feel we dont get the interesting part in the prelude

  • Ah, I will always remember this piece, it just has a way of sticking in your head! I love the horn parts in here.

  • AHHHH!!! I love this song!! It is amazing!!! I play the flute and the trills are amazzing! :D

  • even that little horn soli made me smile (:

  • @ewwJAN haha i remember playing this song last year, and i had only been playing horn for about 4 months since i had recently switched. we had a high G that i could barely hit, but somehow i did it! :) I love that soli too!

  • This is such a gorgeous song. We're playing it for a band concert tomorrow. I'm excited!

  • we are playing this song in our symphonic band this year. i play bassoon and absolutely love the part for it

  • i love this! we did this last year and the whole band loved it! it's beautiful. i played 2nd clairnet!

  • i have 2 play 2nd clairnet for this piece now and it's fun

  • i play 2nd clarinet too :D all my flute friends are like "man, clarinets are always getting the good partss :D"

  • I'm playing this in my middle school band i get to do the trumpet solo, i love doing trills :D

  • Does anyone know where I can find the original version of this Prelude and Fugue? The organ version?

  • Yes, look on iTunes and type in the title. the original organ recording should pop up. Look on Amazon for sheet music.

  • We are doing this piece for our wind ensaumble, i'm first chair clarinet, I can't wait for the finished product!

  • Yeah, I did it last year for wind ensemble, its really beautiful.

  • we did this piece in our wind symphony. this piece is so inviting and peaceful :)
