I leveled as resto for a while on my 80 shaman, from 65-70....it's just not very fast IMO...it's near the same as elemental, except you hit for less and can heal instances if that is your prefered way of leveling (Note I also have tried leveling as resto with a druid---pewpew -.- )

This is what I wrote: I don't exactly know why, but I think that it could have been OP. Though I have to say, that I like Riptide very much, because that way, shamans got the one missing thing that every other healing class already had: an instant heal spell. Of course spirit link would have been cool, but riptide is a nice substitute for it, especially 'cause it increases the power of chain heal.

why did they nerf spirt link? i looked forward to this. my best friend said i better start lvling another carcter with him before WOTLK and he choose druid even know i wanted druid. but i got shammy and i think they are kind of boreing :( i just started one cause the only 70 we dont have is a warrior/priest/warlock. he is at lvl 61 atm and i am at 60. lol i hope shammys will be good in wotlk or ill go back to my rogue and mages. they replaced it with Riptide, a instaheal and HoT that also increases the effect of your next chain heal on the target by 20% but consumes the HoT. =]

I like that Blizzard is buffing shaman single-target healing so that their role isn't just Chain Heal. Especially with Tidal Waves, because Healing Wave is 2.5 seconds even after using 5 points of talents.
