Overall, the SRT-10 is pure muscle and very fun to drive. The lightning I had was a quick car and I loved it. I always wanted a manual but being I'm 6 ft 9 it's hard to find. So the SRT-10 is my sports car now!

modern sport trucks from today, I will take an srt8 jeep over my Typhoon just because it will be more reliable, Ive ran against lightnings and jeeps and so far its been half wins and half loss, for its year and engine I think they are still up there toe to toe against 400hp trucks, my best in the 1/8 is 8.3 98% stock

@haxorGlide that transmisson is a manual. the clutch in it would likely be the first thing to "go" out and it is really quite easy to fix. plus, the manual wieghs a lot less and this also adds to how quick it is. also, math will help on this 641-490=151 more rwhp= much faster truck.
RAM SRT/10 all the way. for starters fords are shit and if u buy the lightning u have 2 upgrade brakes,suspension,and more because the stock stuff sucks they have complained about it for years
Dodge sounded like the import tuner. Also the estimated hp on that Lightning...def gave himself a good amount on a estimate. Maybe ported stock eaton, but looks like stock upper pulley, stock plenum, stock TB, crappy pepboys filter, not sure about lower pulley but if i had to guess, maybe 360-370rwhp, if dyno tuned. So based on that, the L did pretty good.

@default919 Bottom Line, Chrysler couldn't make a good engine to save any economy. The 3.0 V6 Engines of the late 80s and early 90s are Mitsubishi Engines. That's why they lasted so long, because they weren't actually made by the Chrysler Company in the US. Chrysler use to make Good Engines in the 70s. That was before Regan got in and fucked the Unions over. He lowered corporate taxes. This let the car companies transfer a lot of their business overseas without paying big taxes.
Not bad for a vehicle with half the hp as it's competitor and still be able to keep up as well as it did. You have to remember... that was a Viper engine in the Dodge. A supercar engine versus a basically modified F150 engine. Of course it's gonna win. But again, kudos to the Lightning for putting up a good fight with such a power difference.
@DiamondbladeGT, dude, its all about takeout. if you get a good takeout on somebody when both trucks and in this case "super TRUCKS" then your gonna win. im not a ford person to be honest, but the truck looks good, but the thing about the dodge is all the power put on roughly another 1000-1200 pounds and its light in the rear. but between these trucks, i would rather have the dodge, just because its a v10 powerhouse on wheels
@DiamondbladeGT Buddy, just because it has an engine of a viper doesn't mean it's going to perform like a viper. The truck is heavy as fuck, has not nearly the aerodynamics of a viper. And the SVT Lightning isn't basically modified. It's heavily modified and tuned for sport racing.
tl;dr, please don't act as if these trucks aren't fairly pitted against each other. If you still think it's not fair, then blame Ford for not building a supercar with an 8.3L engine like Dodge.
@DiamondbladeGT If both are completely stock the lightning will actually pull out a slightly quicker 0-60 and both are about the same in the 1/4. You have to realize the 500 hp is pulling almost an extra 1,000 lbs over the Ford. So no, the SRT shouldn't necessarily win. IMO the Lightning is hands down the better truck.
the lightning runs 13.9 with 380hp and the srt-10 500hp and runs 13.8 bone stock. the srt-10 is a shitload more money then the lightning and the best part about the lightning is you can drop pulley sizes and the ram cant! here hemi hemi hemi!!!!

@lol2232 The srt ram was produced from 04-06 with the 8.3 v-10 viper engine. It only produce 500 hp then. The 8.4 liter the viper gets now may be more but in the truck it was 500 at the flywheel not at the wheels so I dont know how you figure it has over 600 at the wheels, unless its modded.

Look-Up, Chrysler Corporations Bankruptcy on "WIKIPEDIA" to see how many times some rich person or company had to save them. Even ask people that drive these cars and trucks how many times they had to fix there Chrysler Junk Product. I've heard bad things about Vipers too. Now I think Fiat invested there money into Chrysler.
Actually, when someone buys a car or truck from Chrysler, they should just drive it straight to the junkyard, it would save the owner a lot of trouble.

Maybe Chrysler owes all of you guys an apology for redesigning their trucks in the early 90's & making EVERY OTHER truck look like shit from then on? I think it's funny how Ford / Chevy & ( the others ) have been trying to work in DODGE styling cues on their trucks since the redesign in 94.

@MOTORHEAD8835 The Styling is not what gets Chrysler in trouble FINANCIALLY, its the quality of their product. Also, the quality of the steel they use. Making something run well MECHANICALY IS HARDER THAN MAKING SOMETHING LOOK GOOD. AS TO CHRYSLER CARS AND TRUCKS LOOKING GOOD, THAT"S FALSE. THEY HAVEN'T LOOKED GOOD SINCE THE 70s.

@MOTORHEAD8835 I have to admit that the 2010 or 2011 Dodge Challenger which ever year they came back out with that car looks pretty damn good. It’s too bad they are still slower than the Camaro and the Mustang of the same years. It’s about time though that Dodge has come back out with a decent design that they had in the late 60s and early 70s. Too bad they couldn't do that with 21st Century Charger, it looks like car made from a fucking pick-up truck, what the fuck is that?

@MOTORHEAD8835 COME ON, it does not look anywere near a 69 Charger. Chrysler just wanted to cut corners on what body parts were put on the 21st Century Charger. They put body parts on that were already being made. That fucking grille looks like something put on their wanabe semi-tractor pick-ups. Thanks for Cummins making their Trucks a Quality made work vehicle. I don't what JEEP is doing, but what ever they are doing is not what the rest of Chrysler is doing. Jeep is making good vehicles still

@MOTORHEAD8835 The only thing I'm trying to do is educate people on what not to buy so they are not stranded on the side of the road wondering if they baught a well built vehicle or not. Trust me, I have Shop Mechanic Experiense about which vehicle to buy. And anything that was made by Chrysler as far as the Drive-Train are not built with quality since 1980. The V8s are not bad, but still, they have their problems too. Now the 70s as far as well built American Cars and Trucks, there really isn't

@1BlubeTube The charger was designed before it was designated as a " charger " , that's why it is not retro , the NEW charger still is not very good looking. (imo) The challenger is the full on retro & it IS slower than the camaro ( if you can see a camaro in that design they threw together ) As far as styling cues on Chevy's & Fords looking like Dodge.. Their right in front of U EVERY DAY. So , go ahead drive your Chevy / Ford ( with Dodge styling ideas ) & Be a butthurt Mopar hater.

got a question bro....i have 2 trucks im lookin at right now... a 2009 ram..the sport kind with the chriome rims...they want 22,500 and it has 60k milesand then theres a 2005 ram srt-10 quad cab..they want 25,000 and it has 43k miles....would appreciate anyones advise on which i should get...thanks

@default919 Bottom Line, Chrysler couldn't make a good engine to save any economy. The 3.0 V6 Engines of the late 80s and early 90s are Mitsubishi Engines. That's why they lasted so long, because they weren't actually made by the Chrysler Company in the US. Chrysler use to make Good Engines in the 70s. That was before Regan got in and fucked the Unions over. He lowered corporate taxes. This let the car companies transfer a lot of their business overseas without paying big taxes.

Not bad for a vehicle with half the hp as it's competitor and still be able to keep up as well as it did. You have to remember... that was a Viper engine in the Dodge. A supercar engine versus a basically modified F150 engine. Of course it's gonna win. But again, kudos to the Lightning for putting up a good fight with such a power difference.

@DiamondbladeGT, dude, its all about takeout. if you get a good takeout on somebody when both trucks and in this case "super TRUCKS" then your gonna win. im not a ford person to be honest, but the truck looks good, but the thing about the dodge is all the power put on roughly another 1000-1200 pounds and its light in the rear. but between these trucks, i would rather have the dodge, just because its a v10 powerhouse on wheels

@DiamondbladeGT Buddy, just because it has an engine of a viper doesn't mean it's going to perform like a viper. The truck is heavy as fuck, has not nearly the aerodynamics of a viper. And the SVT Lightning isn't basically modified. It's heavily modified and tuned for sport racing.
tl;dr, please don't act as if these trucks aren't fairly pitted against each other. If you still think it's not fair, then blame Ford for not building a supercar with an 8.3L engine like Dodge.

@DiamondbladeGT If both are completely stock the lightning will actually pull out a slightly quicker 0-60 and both are about the same in the 1/4. You have to realize the 500 hp is pulling almost an extra 1,000 lbs over the Ford. So no, the SRT shouldn't necessarily win. IMO the Lightning is hands down the better truck.

the lightning runs 13.9 with 380hp and the srt-10 500hp and runs 13.8 bone stock. the srt-10 is a shitload more money then the lightning and the best part about the lightning is you can drop pulley sizes and the ram cant! here hemi hemi hemi!!!!

the SRT10 sounds funny because it prolly has flowmasters mine did i put Magnaflow on it and made it sound like a MONSTER if you get the 6 Speed standard like he has...no words to describe the power and feeling it gives yo driving it.....P.S if you dont respect those power house Badass trucks they will hurt you i broke my tires loose at 60mph on the freeway in mine scared the shit outta me but was fucking fun :)

Lightning 380 HP at Crank runnin mid 13's in the 1/4
Ford is more awesome than I thought they were. LOL

@lol2232 The srt ram was produced from 04-06 with the 8.3 v-10 viper engine. It only produce 500 hp then. The 8.4 liter the viper gets now may be more but in the truck it was 500 at the flywheel not at the wheels so I dont know how you figure it has over 600 at the wheels, unless its modded.

@LWEFB74 I am sure you probably did beat an x-runner that is hardly an argument for all of them and we all know that Toyota does not suck ass as you say. They have one of the highest resale values, are durable, and are equally capable of creating vehicles for hauling, as well as hauling ass. As for x-runners a blown and slightly modded one making 400-500 hp is a quick rig in a line and around the corner, a place few trucks can go at speed with a stock suspension.
