@spartan177saber Actually, Microsoft got cold feet before Halo 3 was released and decided to "postpone" the Halo movie. Neil Blomkamp was quite bitter at the decision and with the help of (producer) Peter Jackson, they went off to make a completely original Sci-Fi called District 9.

there are super weapons called Halos and they are these huge ring worlds that orbit around planets. they were built to destroy these parasite creatures called "the flood" and since the only way to destroy the flood is to starve them, and they eat pretty much any living thing, the halo rings will destroy every living thing if they are activated. The master chief is basically a genetically enhanced super soldier and he is supposed to stop the aliens, called the covenant, from activating them
