well beat this everybody these guys play once a month in my regular pub called the nant inn which is in buckley north wales great chance to see them and they actually talk and sit down n have a beer with ya great band i never heard of them before until they played there they are best mates with jimmy the landlord who was somehow involved with china crisis i dont know how but i know he was
This is awesome! I saw them at Park West in Chicago in 1982. Can't remember the month but the date on the envelope from the photo place says 10/26/82 so it couldn't have been too long before that. My friends and I had a front table right up against the stage. We were to the left and sitting in front of Frank. My friend, Debra, had a crush on Paul so she made sure I took a lot of photos of him as well. (more.. won't let me post more now)
For years I thought my ex took these pictures like he did so many things but I just found them! YEAH!! I guess that is what happens when you move 14 times in 28 years.
BTW, the (then) local band Ministry opened for them.
Thanks, icecreamberry & agena83! I don't use Facebook or any of those sites. I used to use Photobucket. I wonder if there is a place i can post the photos. And also if I can somehow protect them. I do have a good photo program. I will have to do some checking up on this. Any suggestions on where I can post them? Thanks:)
No-one of that name in the band back then. Maybe one of the 'new' guys that Mike Score is using. I seem to remember someone in a band from this era with the surname Steadman though. You got me thinking now ;)
gary steadnin played on 1986 dream come true album as session guitarist. later he became an official member and was featured in heartbeat video. he played in live shows 1986-1987. then left the band along with all other members except mike
I met Mike Score on Friday after their show in Wolves. Really nice down to earth guy stood and chatted to us for half n hour. Hope they come back to the UK next year!
Damn that was awesome. I wonder why Pauls echo didn't come on sometimes? Oh well doesn't matter, he's a great fucking guitar player, echo or no! I've been crazily hooked on his sound lately. Always loved AFOS but lately just craving that insane guitar sound. DNA is an incredible instrumental.
The Arctic Moneys are Very good. They have their own sound and play it well. They're great live and very skilled for an Indy band. God(whom doesn't exists) knows the number of mediocre skilled indy bands lol
If you think the 80s were bad you must have some terrible musical taste cause the 80s had some of the best songs ever written in the history of mankind.
I remember living in Hong Kong when this song came out. I was in the US Navy attached to the US consulate there, and my fiancee and I went to a small club called the Goldengate, and they played thisong over and over again. Really nice to dance to. That was 26 years ago, but still seems like yesterday. Thanks for bringing back GREAT memories. Very much appreciated.
You are right this song is to be remembered as a fav of all time not drugs and shootings geez whats this blue marbled world comming to so much garbage ! Band influences on kids thats why this world of our is the way it is it starts with the adults(parents) then its passed on and on and each time its worse! I truly remember this song as the age that music was music and i still listen to afos to this day since the early 80's
And just one other thing, I hate seeing comments that say "VICE CITY!!" Shouldnt this song be remembered for more than just a video game about drug deals and shooting people.
I havent commented on AFOS in a while. First thing I've noticed is that people are calling these guys emo. This isnt emo, this new wave, a new romantic movement. Emo songs involve screaming and blowing my f-ing eardrums out. These guys deliver a sound so beautiful. I think Wishing was one of the best written songs of the 80's.And I'm sure this band had influenced many other popular bands that came in the future, but no body knows it because their fame was overshadowed by a silly haircut.
