Oh yeah, you do know about mother 3 translation project right? If not, basically, all the mother/earthbound games have been translated. You can play them on emulators, not sure if there is any way to play on the original systems.

OH wow! It looks like it plays like Touhou! I'm not very good at "Shoot em ups" but I thought the term "Shoot em ups" would refer to First Person Shooters that have a constant onslaught of enemies. And a Top down shooter would refer to this type of game. Or I also like to call them "curtain fire shooters" because they fire bullets at you constantly and the come down on you like a curtain. Clever no? :)

I haven't played this, I don't think it was released in the UK, but from to your vid I can see it's not for me. For me the best vertical scrolling shmup is 1942 by capcom or Xevious, yes you heard right XEVIOUS !!! that shit is addictive !

@skoi87 This is actually a spiritual sequel to Radiant Silvergun (it even has the same final boss). While Radiant Silvergun had maximalist ideals with the 6 different weapons, level balancing, and several ways to chain enemies; Ikaruga went the minimalist route, keeping it simple with just black and white.

Man this game is HARD. I've never managed to beat it either.

In SHMUP's I like to think of it as "slowing down for dramatic effect" rather than than it being a sort of bug. It's definitely something that helps you in Cave games when things get really busy. I hope you are your family are doing alright in Japan.

Yeah, Pinnacle is terrible. So at first when I saw this in my subscription box I thought maybe you made a new video, but then I realized it was from the DVD. Pretty cool being able to see this, even if the sound wasn't working right. I remember when you released a promo video for the DVD, but sadly I never picked it up.

Ikaruga is just challenging. It's a damn hard game, but that doesn't make it bad. 3rd level is damn solid.

But mother 1 one was also hard, in a different way, but still, required several deaths to get good at, and that's a fantastic nes game.

rather poor review with the shouting, no mention of extra damage while white onto black or vice versa, burst/homing mechanics for absorbing, no mention (rather, misleading by saying no power-ups/rewards) of chain kills leading to extra men and that feedback hum during your voice over

@sleighte The feedback hum is being caused by the capture device. Equipment costs money, I do this for free. I didn't say anything about rewards, I don't consider getting extra lives a power-up or upgrade. The direction I decided to take this video was less about a solid review and more for entertainment purposes because this was on a DVD. If someone just wanted the facts, they could go read a review website like gamespot for it. Sorry you were unsatisfied though.
