  • play the halftime shuffle every day for 15 minutes. use the main 15 note possibiltiies for the bass drum as one goal. Change around where the open/closes go on the hi-hats, bass drum, even the ghost notes. make a routine , stay at 60bpm. be able to move fluidly from one variation to the other. its great practice to become more advanced with being able to play with a groove and finesse while being creative enough to never play the same riff over and over.

  • yeah that shuffle stuff sounds pretty cool

  • every, really every dummer is playing the halftime shuffle at least once at a soundchek :D

  • Um.. this isn't a warmup, this is called a soundcheck.

Warmup is what he does playing backstage on a practice pad.

  • who cares!

  • god that snare sounds like shit haha. the rest sounds good, just the snare sounds like shit haha.

  • Black Sabbath Iron Man Hehe \m/

    Derek is a god!

  • WOO, their playing iron man in the background, this video just got more rock n roll

  • Rosanna Shuffle! \m/

  • I hate to say it, but I finally figured out what that is. Just saw the Jeff Porcaro video. Looks like a fun shuffel, i'd love to learn how to play it. Even though its way too advanced for me :)

  • The hard thing about the Rosanna shuffle is the ghost note right after the accent. Such a great one to do. Try playing along to Steely Dan's "Home At Last", that's another good one.

  • lol iron man playin in the background

  • hehe and again the hihat-bass-pedal-thing, i love that

  • the 3/2 foot polyrhythm from I Monarch and Faceless One?
