  • MMM que rico! My father in law uses olives instead of rasins, it's one of my favorite dishes!

  • My dad adds Potatoes, and uses regular drinking wine just incase cooking wine is hard to find.

  • @JohnnyDesaint

I've corresponded with you...can't rememeber when though.

  • @6400az I dont remember ,bUt thanx to your video i was able to make my picadillo. But i added a cup of vinegar and potatoes...Thanx and god bless.

  • @JohnnyDesaint

No, that's not my video. I am Cuban and grew up eating picadillo. Also like it with lot's of potatoes as well as witt vinegar or maybe with Badia mojo. A side of fried sweet plantains won't hurt the feast either.

I've definitely corresponded with you, remember the name. ...yep!

  • @6400az Right on then.nice to hear from you again.Next i want to make Tasajo or Fricase de pollo.

  • Thanx for the video..I married an American girl that dont know how to toast her own bread. So i need to learn to cook Cuban Food like my dad or else ill starve to death lol.

  • You must have lots or raisins and green olives with Picadillo!

  • My beba made picadillo similarly but without the bay leaf its good stuff! : )

  • actually the rasins & olives do take away alot from the picadillo if you remove them. The olives add a bit of tart pungency and the rasins balance everything else out by adding some sweetness to the dish it helps to balance out the combintion of the above mentioned and the acidity of the tomato sauce and the flavor of the sofrito. It all balances out

  • Raisins are not required. You can certainly skip them and/or skip the olives. This was just the way my mom made it but I don't think they take away a lot from the flavor if they are missing.

By the way, as a child, I picked out the raisins when I ate the dish. :) I don't anymore.

  • They lost me at the raisins.
