No, that's not my video. I am Cuban and grew up eating picadillo. Also like it with lot's of potatoes as well as witt vinegar or maybe with Badia mojo. A side of fried sweet plantains won't hurt the feast either.
I've definitely corresponded with you, remember the name. ...yep!
Thanx for the video..I married an American girl that dont know how to toast her own bread. So i need to learn to cook Cuban Food like my dad or else ill starve to death lol.
actually the rasins & olives do take away alot from the picadillo if you remove them. The olives add a bit of tart pungency and the rasins balance everything else out by adding some sweetness to the dish it helps to balance out the combintion of the above mentioned and the acidity of the tomato sauce and the flavor of the sofrito. It all balances out
Raisins are not required. You can certainly skip them and/or skip the olives. This was just the way my mom made it but I don't think they take away a lot from the flavor if they are missing.
By the way, as a child, I picked out the raisins when I ate the dish. :) I don't anymore.
Well congratulations!! This Cuban grandma has it for sure, that's the real McCuban picadillo. The raisins/olives is the trick, not to forget the wine...oooh, wish I had been invited to that family table...shucks!!
hmm wine and raisins. my dad's family recipe uses a whole bottle of beer instead of wine.its really good too. this looks great too ill have to try it.
My father in law uses olives instead of rasins, it's one of my favorite dishes!
