Mort Marshall was "Fruitpie the Magician" (I remember his voices from "Tennessee Tuxedo" and "Klondike Kat")....and Dan Ingram's the announcer for the "Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine" spot.
Back when you could actually have cartoon characters attacking each other. Everything was relatively good, until the dreaded 90's. Now cartoons are either stupid, or censorsed so much that they're not funny at all. RIP childhood...rip entertainment.
Great nostalgia...btw...this is off-topic, but I'd like to let everyone out there reading this know the Chinese Communist Party has been persecuting 70 million Falun Gong spiritual practitioners for 10 years in China. They are put in slave-labor camps and forced to make stuff sold here. They take organs from them and sell them to rich people. The media doesn't cover it. It must stop. Thanks.
@darinmaclachlan Yes, I agree. btw, to veer even further off of topic.
Mongooses (Herpestidae) are a family of 33 species of small carnivorans from southern Eurasia and mainland Africa. Four additional species from Madagascar in the subfamily Galidiinae, which were previously classified in this family, are also frequently referred to as "mongooses". Genetic evidence indicates that the Galidiinae are more closely related to other Madagascar carnivorans in the family Eupleridae.
Luckily you can relive the magic of worn cartoon prints on the many $1 DVDs that are out now.
That Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine commercial ran at least til the mid-80s. The later versions had an animated Snoopy licking a sno-cone over the end.
Looks like all the mail-order commercials on WTCG and WTBS's early years had the same phone number- 1-800-257-1234. Just tried it now and got a live person, but I didn't ask what company it is now.
I remember that 800 number on WTBS ads well into the late '80s. IIRC, Ted Turner said in an interview that in the WTCG days, these direct-response ads were fulfilled by the station itself. I could imagine that the operation grew so large that it could have been spun off into a separate company that was later sold, but that's just speculation on my part.
1978 must've been an important year for my psyche. That's what my mind tells me. It's more like a presence. Something bad happened to me during Snoopy's snow cone machine commercial.
love it at 1:54!!!...haha...
