  • This sounds so much like Eastern Chant! I love it. We've got to rediscover the treasure trove of our tradition in the West. That has a lot to do with rediscovering the beauty and wonder in the liturgy, but that's a long conversation for another combox ;)

  • The Fransiscan Friars of the Immaculate use this chant.

  • it'd be great if you can post more from this CD...I love this!!

  • Can anyone tell me where to find the sheet music for this version of the Tantum Ergo? Thank you in advance.

  • is there a torrent of it anywhere?

  • So Peaceful,

    God Bless You,

    John

  • wow. how old is this song?

  • Great addition to our collection.

  • Awesome! I could imagine a whole congregation singing this -- what power that must have!

  • very beautiful thanks so much for posting I enjoyed it and found it up lifting such wonders in this world I live to see all I can and to hear of course.

  • Here's a more literal translation. As you can see Bellringer's is much easier to sing in English however! So great therefore a sacrament Let us venerate bowing. And let the ancient law Yield to the new rite. Let faith supply help To the senses' deficiency. To the begetter and to the begotten Praise and rejoicing. Salutation, honor, virtue also, Let there be and blessing. (Thus) proceeds from one and the other ( To Him) Be equal praise.
  • Great sound. What is the translation to English?

  • Here's the melodic translation, used in Catholic churches: Therefore we before him bending, This great sacrament revere, Types and shadows have their ending, For the newer rite is here, Faith the outward sense befriending, Makes the inward vision clear. Glory let us give, and blessing to the Father and the Son, honor, might and praise addressing, while eternal ages run; ever too his love confessing, who from Both with Both is One.
  • Cool and very interesting! Sounds like a mixture of 16th century English liturgical song and Slavic chant!

  • MERAVIGLIOSO

  • Sounds like Ensemble Organum for me...

  • Yes, I have checked my CD.... it is from "Chant Corse" by Ensemble Organum!

  • That CD must have had some scratches...

Apart from that - a beautiful peace of music.

  • I know. Believe me, given what happened to this CD and another one of my collection I'm actually quite happy I managed to salvage these pieces. The CD in question is now out of circulation and available only in France.

  • thank you for the info!

  • Thank you, Sean.

    Rachim

  • Thank you for putting this up.

His straight-to-it words; and harmonies almost unbearably beautiful. Is this from a CD?
