Glad you thought the video was worthwhile. The metal cap boxes are not easily rebuildable due to the seems being soldered shut. I leave them in place, remove the electrical connections on the bottom and install new capacitors. Orange drops are a bit large for under the tube shelf so I use Mouser #DME6S47K-F which fit neatly underneath.
Glad you've done this video, as I have a 342 that went out on me. Now, quick question--the metal-cased caps--what's the easiest way to replace them? Can those boxes be cracked open and the guts replaced? Are they oil filled?
You wouldn't happen to have a 342 for sale would you? This is a great tutorial !
