  • Yes they are a MAGICAL BAND

  • YES, in the 70's, owned the planet. Their music was transcendent, like the voice of God. The only band that could touch them during that period was Zeppelin. I saw YES in 1978 at the Long Beach Arena. I was just a kid and will never forget it. I have seen them many times since but I will never go see them without Jon Anderson. No Jon, no YES. End of story. The last great YES album was ten years ago: Magnification, 2001. Jon sounds amazing, as does the rest of the band. Long live YES...and Jon.

  • hard to believe it's been twenty years since this tour.... where does the time go?

  • @TardisType30 Benoit David is in the band...for like almost 3 years now! I understand your feelings, but for me personally: Having seen the show the other night, I really don't miss Jon or Rick that much.

Yes is moving on...with a new album that the Classic line-up just couldn't get it together long enough to do.

Maybe a farewell tour for Classic Yes in the future is in the works, but overall the crowds are enjoying the shows.

  • @dmudd123 I didn't miss Jon & Rick saw their show on a cold, wet & windy night at the Sage Gateshead. The spirit of Yes was alive and well. I've followed Yes through all the many changes, and there is always two sides to every story' but for me Yes without either Jon or Chris is only a Tribute band. I also have concerns about David's voice i.e. he seems to strugle with high notes and it sounds like trying to put on an english accent and sounds to english, but to be fair I haven't heard him Live.

  • Rabin did great on "90125" and "Big Generator". Rabin has more in common with Howe than most people think. Like Howe, he is an extremely creative rock guitarist who managed to avoid all those clichees we have heard in abundance for the last 30 years or so. His only problem is that there is just no place for another guitarist next to Howe. God bless both of them.

  • Ahhh, I thought I was the only one who disliked Rabin's playing here. It just doesn't belong at all. Not that it is necessarily bad, but... in this context, it's awful.

Also, I don't even mean his playing in this cilp. I didn't realize this wasn't the entire song and was referring to his extended solo later on after Howe's. Howe plays fast, nimbly and tastefully - Rabin's playing has more of a HEY MOM LOOK AT ME GO thing to it.

  • Rabin just...ick. And I wish it was just Bruford playing the drums. I always felt Alan sounded heavy handed playing these same parts.

  • saw it in the round at the Forum in LA. EPIC!

  • What is important is the yes music continues. They are all brilliant musicians and I will go and see Yes no matter who is in the band as long as they maintain the quality which they always do.Long live Yes music.

  • To all you anti-Rabinists, (including you popeye), get a clue!!! When Howe QUIT the band it was all over for YES. TR single handedly pulled them through and gave them a number one hit. They would have been done. For you ignoramus' who think he's a lame musician you better do your homework, because he is one of the most sought after music producers in hollywood. You don't get there by being lame. Howe is great player but he did give up on his mates. Suck it up and support your band, buy the DVD!

  • who is the bum in the t-shirt? Jethro?

  • Now this IS Yes!

Please get Jon Anderson back as your singer!

  • @tonyashlin Have you heard him sing lately? He sounds great for what he's been through, but he himself has stated that he will not be able to tour regularly like the band plans on doing!

  • Genial al fin lo sacaron!

  • i have this tour on japanese version and i would prefer the that they edit the tour were all was on a gigant turn plataform but to me this was a bad election

  • Unfair shot at Trevor Rabin, who was anything but a "replacement" for Steve Howe. Most guitarists only wish they could play as "ordinary" as Rabin - but like Steve, Trevor was also a very important songwriter for the band, and a huge reason why Yes didn't end when they could have - and possible SHOULD have. At least Union featured thoroughbred members of Yes. Now, it's three classic members, the son of another classic member, and a geek semi-sound-a-like who could host Wheel of Fortune.

  • @Vince1961 I saw this show in Toronto, the crowd boo'd Trevor Rabin everytime he took a solo. I consider Steve Howe to one of the better players around, and like many I prefer the "classic" Yes. But Rabin is no slouch and it was very unfair for him to be treated the way he was that night.

  • @Vince1961 Agreed. In fact, Trevor wasn't hired to join Yes at all, he formed a band with Squire, White & Kaye called "Cinema"- it was only after record company insistence that Jon came in to dub his lead vocals and the group was dubbed "Yes".

Yes fandom can be utterly mystifying- the band do this shit to themselves and in the eyes of those that think their heroes can do no wrong, it is all somehow the "new guy's" fault. Rabin is great. Howe is great. They are different. The end. ;)

  • Hey, maybe Trevor Rabin can't keep up with Steve on guitar, but at least he knows how to dress for a tractor-pull contest. Too bad for him that's not what he was doing. I mean really...not even a decent t-shirt or something? His appearance embarasses the band and insults the audience. On this clip at least, it matches his guitar style - ordinary. Steve Howe has always been a class act and it's reflected in his music. Rabin has no business even playing on this song.

  • FINALLY!

  • I'd prefer that they made a DVD of an In-The Round show from the earlier leg of the Union Tour instead. I'm guessing it's probably because they're simply copying a Japanese video of Shoreline that's already existed for over a decade.

There is footage of the earlier Denver ITR show floating about the internet. I think some of it even appeared in the Yesyears documentary video made back during the time of the Union period. Too bad that's not what will be on this DVD.

  • How many Yes men does it take to change a light-bulb? Several apparently... Fantastic tune though.... CS is wonderful... How come his 'E' goes lower than everyone else's 'E'?

  • I hate Trevor Playing in this song

  • @julyvalls Me too!

  • I was at the Denver show. Much much better in the round.

  • So this is from the Shoreline show?

  • EXCELLENT!!

  • Yes are amazing, and I hear lots of people going on about how this member or that member are not as good as this member or that member, what you have to realize is that Yes music is bigger than each individual member of the band at any one time. It's about the feel, rhythm, and emotion that Yes music evokes. That's what is more important to Yes than anything else. For me, they're the best that's ever been or will be.

  • @daffy0817 And how would you feel about a Who tour without Roger? Or maybe the Stones deciding to tour without Mick? With some groups there is a line that can't be crossed. Jon was an intrinsic ingredient, the heart and soul of Yes. Replacing him with a sound-alike reduces the group to being its own tribute band.

  • @colininla Bill Bruford's words many years ago have indeed been prohetic about this band.He himself did this tour for the money.Even if Jon is at 50% of what he was, that's still better than 100% of Benoit. The current version of Ye$ is an abomination. From show to show you never know what you will get..malfunctioning keyboard rigs..a tone deaf vocalist..etc.At least Steve Howe has his pride as a virtuoso. His playing has been fantastic. This band needs direction if it is to continue into the future.

  • I bet you Trevor wished he could play like Steve.

Bet you also that Steve would rather Trevor not be playing with them at all.

    Same here.

  • YES THE BEST IN THE WORLD.

  • for sure getting this!

  • This is the Yes that I've enjoyed for over 35 years ! Certainly better than the current "Frankenyes" that been out lately!! A must have for all to remember them by!!

  • Looks great. Definitely a must buy for me.

  • Wow...finally this comes out after all these years!!! I can't wait!!!

  • ONE MORE TIME....JON ANDERSON IS THE MAN, JON ANDERSON IS THE VOICE OF YES, JON ANDERSON IS YES!!!

YES HE IS ONLY ONE OF 16 FULL TIME YES MEN, BUT I HAVE SEEN THE "TRIBUTE YES", AND JUST WANTED TO CRY!!

JON IS THE SOUL OF YES, HIS PRESENCE ON STAGE, JUST THE FEEL OF THE BAND WITHOUT JON IS SIMPLY NOT THERE!!

YES DID FINE WITHOUT OTHER MEMBERS THROUGH-OUT THE YEARS..

    MOST OF ALL STEVE.

TREVORS BAND, 13 OR 14 MILLION COPIES OF ONLY 3 ALBUMS!!

    DRAMA, THE 37 MIN ALBUM....ABOUT 600,000..

    HUM.!

  • Sounds GREAT!

  • Nice to have the "Union" era show on DVD at last, pity that it's not the one with the revolving stage... Isnt' it one of the Japanese concerts, played in 1992?

  • Since Jon did "Does It really happen" as a rehearsal in 1978

, why didn't he do at least that song with Yes

on stage? Or "Run Through The Light", he did a skeleton of it as "Dance

Through the light" during the Paris-Sessions 79? Strange ...

DRAMA was a great Album; I don`'t miss Jon on it; as much as I don't miss

Chris on the fine ABWH.I saw the UNION-Tour in Munich 1991 and I´m happy to get this forthcomingUNION-release on DVD, although there is a Japanese DVD of it out quite a while ago.

  • Jon Anderson did not want to do any more albums with Yes. Jon Anderson will not be singing on the new Yes album. Jon Anderson is unable to do a tour with Yes. Jon Anderson is not Yes, Jon Anderson is just Jon Anderson.

  • Comment removed

  • @mikapromotesobesity

I keep up with what Jon has to say about events as well as those remaining in Yes. Jon is unable to take on full scale tours but he is able to do a reduced schedule of touring. Jon Anderson was the driving force of 70's Yes and has always been the key writer for most of there music (exclude, Drama, 90125). He is not Yes on his own and neither are Chris, Alan and Steve, it takes all three of them to make Yes, they can live with replacement keyboard players.

  • This looks great, I'm really looking forward to getting a copy of this. Jon is the only true voice of Yes. Having seen the current line up with Benoit on vocals I can only say I long for the day when we can see at least one show a year with Jon, come on Chris, Steve and Alan make it happen.

Benoit is a great singer and a nice guy but he's not Jon!

  • @deificd

Well Zachry Quinto is not Leonard Nimoy but I loved the new Trek movie anyway. It was still star trek.

With all the lineup changes how can you state there is only one true anything about Yes.

  • @bluejfk

First off, everyone is entitled to there opinion. I've been a fan of Yes for about 31 years, I like all Yes albums from Yes to Magnification. The first "Yes" show I seen was the Drama tour; Drama is the only album that Jon didnt sing on. Trevor could not replace Jon.

I seen ABWH as well and even though Tony Levin was a fantastic bass player, he wasnt Chris Squire (the only person to be on all the Yes albums). For me it's not really Yes unless you have Jon, Steve and Chris.

  • @bluejfk

There are a lot of things that are true about Yes, it's true that Cinema became Yes when they got Jon to join the group. Trevor Rabin is a masterful musician but he wasnt Steve, many of us that grew up listening to 70's Yes longed for Steve to rejoin the band. It's true of Yes that you can not predict what they will do next; ABWH Union !!! then back to Classic Yes.

The new line up do great shows but it's like Rush with no Geddy, Zeppelin without Plant, a key element is missing

  • yesssssssssssssssssssssss

  • Somebody turn down Trevor Rabin's guitar!!!! Steve Howe blows him out of the water!!!

  • JON ANDERSON IS THE MAN.

    JON ANDERSON IS YES!!!!!!!

  • @RICHARDTRICHMOND, et. al.

All those who say Jon Anderson is Yes - why did chris and jon fire Peter Banks? If Yes were those two then they wouldn't have needed to fire Banks. Yes became Yes when Steve Howe joined them. That is the fact. The whole is greater than the parts for sure but Yes was not Yes as we know it until Howe joined. And Yes is only Yes when Howe is involved. That is my opinion. Try to get the a true Yes sound without Howe. Yes still sounds like Yes without Jon.

  • @yesfanhowe Same is true with Asia. Not many liked Asia without Howe.

  • @yesfanhowe Yes is so much more than just a band or a bandmember. So in my opinion it's impossible to say which guy is the real Yes. I agree that Steve Howe is very responsible for what people would call the Yes-sound. But also Steve Howe without Chris Squire wouldn't sound like Yes. Still I think Jon Anderson should never be fired. Maybe they still sound like Yes with that new dude but Yes is also more than the sound. It's the way Jon moved, talked, joked etc. That was also Yes

  • @yesfanhowe EVER LISTEN TO ANY OF PETER BANKS SOLO STUFF? SOUNDS AN AWFUL LOT LIKE YES!! WONDER WHO RIPPED OFF WHO!
