  • I prefer the english dub it just makes the scene all the more dramatic. Why is it Leomon has to die in every season. He's so awesome! Also prefer Derek Stephen Prince and Paul St Peter's takes on Beelzemon and Leomon. They are some of the best english dub voice actors in the anime industry. Also Rika's voice actress Melissa Fahn was in Cowboy Bebop and Invader Zim.

  • tbh the dub is a lot better than the original minus one or two things like Culumon not being as cute

    Digimodify >> Card Slash

although the jazz bgm is cool the techno track feels more in line wif "digi"mons

I do hate the "digimon digital monsters digital -something something- champions" lyrics though...

  • @boggyLP you suck too buddy

  • I love the voice of Leomon <333 I love Leomon is soo Sexy and brave *w*

WHY ALWAYS HAVE TO DIE? :'(((( D: I'm crying

  • i hate beelzemon

  • I might... -might- have more sympathy for people who prefer the english version if it were possible to get the subbed version -anywhere.-

  • Is that Gokus voice what Guilmon has?

  • I prefer the japanese because of the sound effects, and Juri's english VA sounds a little too old... Though Beelzemon sounds epic in english!

That and the opening. Have you heard the japanese opening? It kicks the english one's ass.

  • i just noticed something. when Beezlebumon (correct me if im wrong) is beating up Kyubimon, in english all i hear is Beezlebumon grunting, thats it. Yet in Japanese you hear his hits landing

  • @hinaruto14 I noticed that too. Probably the English editors took out the sound effects because it was considered "too violent" by the censors. Ironic, seeing that they will let a main character being killed off be shown, but they consider punches one step too far.

  • @kinglouis1993

Well, that's Leomon's personality, and that was not the first time he talked about fate. His words in the original were important because Juri is afraid she may lose her loved ones because of fate, and how she can't run away from it. Her mother died "because of fate", too.

D-Reaper took advantage of this and made Juri relive the worst times of her live so it would feed on her grief.

The dub dialogue is, IMHO, boring. It's just made to sound pretty.

  • i like the sound effect of japanees more then the english but the english words mean more

  • @issaimb yeah i agree also the voices sound so much better in Japanese

  • This is the only season of digimon i liked in english

  • I actually think the dub is better it shows more emotion and even in the whole series the dub characters of Takato, Henry and Rika at least are more lovable than the subbed versions

  • The dub DID do pretty well in portraying the death of Leomon. I see no reason why people think it was dulled down. It had a saddening, surprising impression that worked JUST AS WELL, if not, slightly BETTER than the original, due to the dub actually giving FINAL WORDS to Jeri.

I think there are just some hardcore dub-haters here tryin to overbash English dubbing. I seriously get ticked off at people like those.

  • Met someone online who's up to episode 25 in Tamers, and is completely unspoilered, has no idea what'll happen in future episodes.

She's also 10. I'm scared this will break her heart.

  • To me a Japanese man's voice doesn't fit anything other than a Japanese man.

That's the main reason I prefer anime dubs

  • holy fuck....japanese versions the digimon series curse?!

  • I like the english Version better, the writing isn't bad at all, and the japanese version lacked the 'goodbye' that makes it even sadder. When loemon said goodbye to Jeri and told her to be stong in the english dub it made me cry harder.

  • @pokeEUReKA The weird part is that-even with past seasons having moments that were quite powerful in the dub on their own-this was the point where the Digimon franchise could truly stand on its own in English (sans the person who voiced Suzie, but she wasn't a huge focus in the show anyway.) So it's really a matter of preference by this point. But I agree about the goodbye being more effective in the English dub, as it's more in-tune with who Leomon is as a character.

  • I felt the death of Leomon on Digimon Adventure was kind of a cop out.. This was the real death

  • @deiOppah I dont get how you can say that, the Japanese version lacked so much emotion.

  • japanes version is better

  • The dus is pretty good at matching the sub's emotion. I say it's about even

  • ... meh ...

Without his Brooklyn accent, Beelzemon's Japanese voice just makes him sound like another Muscle-bound idiot.

I prefer his English voice over his Japanese one

*waits for the Weebos to reply and tell me how 'wrong' i am*

  • @Ixbran Actually I think that was whole point of it. I mean, Impmon wasn't smart at all and he was given all that power that he misused carelessly. Either way, Beelzemon kicks ass.

  • @Ixbran Beelzemon having a Brooklyn accent is equivalent to Professor Layton speaking Japanese as an Englishman. The accent he was given for the dub is probably the closest to what we can associate to a punk, but the Japanese voice does an awesome job as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the voice then, and I still enjoy it now, both English and Japanese.

The Japanese version has appropriate music that isn't ear-rape, so yeah. Oh, and Jeri's anguish from Leomon isn't linked to her mother in the dub.

  • @Ixbran Agreed

  • @Ixbran Well my friend Beelzebumon is not a mobster the dub played his charcter poorly why would a monster that live in japan have a brooklyn accent and speak like that to japanese kids, also his english voice actor doesnt try to sound good hes the one that makes him sound like a muscle head on the other hand Hiroki Takahashi plays Impmon wonderfuly he can sound cute, act tough, and make a verity of voices his Beelzebumon voice is perfect.

  • @desdar100 The brooklyn dub was perfect, it gave him character and life, setting himself differently from the other run of the mill characters you tend to see, it was different.I think it showed how satirical impmon's character really was.

  • @DevilKadams Well the character all ready had life, but I see your point its just that why would a monster in Japan have a accent does the english version of this anime even mention that this took place in Japan.

  • @Ixbraninsert *weeaboo comment here*

  • @Ixbran Nothing against dub voices, except they still didn't bother changing the music to something authentic and breathless (next season atleast THEY GAVE AN ORIGINAL, EPIC THEME *clap claps*)

  • @Ixbran while to me his brooklyn accent makes him seem more like a mook, i can't disagree that it sounds rather fitting for him. i do kinda have preferences for the japanese dub but beelzemon sounds good either way honestly

  • and that is why hes the best bad digimon off all time he kills a digdestins digimon

  • This is a good episode, but it's one of my least favorites, because of Beelzemon killing Leomon and Takato making Guilmon digivolve into an evil digimon.

  • hmm i like leomon's last words in the dub

  • I love the dub's Brooklyn accent. Suits his punk biker outlook.

    Sub has better music

  • Leomon's comment that dieing was his destiny seems a bit like foreshadowing to me...>_>

(does Toei just hate him or what?)

  • why u ppl bash on the dub there has ben bad japanese voice actoring

  • @phoniexkai People typically get used to the voices, and even though I like the original version of most of the digimon series. The tamer saga was bad, The dub version had much more emotion and more of a human side than the original japanese version. Which is rare for a dubbed anime, since its usually the other way around.

  • It's messed up, but Beelzemon's english voice actor also voiced veemon.

  • @AsakuraMyahle How can you say that? The original version was horrible, her partner is destroyed and all he can say to her is "This might be my fate" No wonder Jeri was so depressed during the last part of the series, that kind of combination can have a warped effect on a fragile mind like hers. The english version at least gives her some comfort, even if she didnt realize it right away "Be brave Jeri, part of me will always be with you. Rmember, you have a loins heart". That line is much better

  • @GilgameshSlicer For the kids, I agree with you. But it doesn't matter if the english line is "better" about make it easy to take, the REAL story/message was that showed by the japanese one. That wasn't horrible, that was the TRUE intention of the writers, since Jeri STILL being a sad/depressed girl throughout the anime.

  • @thiagoliol You make a good point, and actually seeing it a few times. I can see it. But none the less a powerful scene.

  • @GilgameshSlicer point is in giving us original story not censored crap we are given by dubbed versions of anime

  • @GilgameshSlicer The original version wasn't horrible. Leomon's final words in the original were important to Juri's development, and even to the plot(and fit his character), while what he said in the dub is only meant to sound good and emotive(though I find it kind of cheesy, mainly because it's pointless)

Of course, people have different opinions.

  • @HwoarangChaolan i mean how was his words more importaint to the plot and jerry/juri's development in the japanese version all he did was state the obvious "this may be my fate" oo really leomon you have a freaking hole in your stomach and you disentergrating as we speak and your last words are "this may be my fate." I mean way to waste your last words by stating the obvious but hey some ppl do prefer the obivious instead of powerful words bc they just love the orginal so much

  • @GilgameshSlicer How can you say tthis? Jen became depressed till the end when she realized that what Leomon meant that faith is something you make by yourself. She missunderstod this sentence and became even more weak so that d-reaper could use her. It is very deep what happens in the original. Sure it isn't very nice what happens, but I think it is better stracted than turning this sagnificant scene into a tearful, joyful sad scene.

  • @GilgameshSlicer ...You do realize that the dub line pretty much kills the point of why Juri gets into her depressive state, right?

  • @TsukentoX No, it really doesn't. Jeri goes into depression because she made a vow not to love anyone again after her mother died, breaks it with Leomon and then sees him die in front of her eyes too. This isn't triggered by a line, it's triggered by a sense of guilt coupled with a second loss. Grief like this isn't out of the ordinary.

Also, the dub repeats the line, "a part of [her] will always be with [us]" in the flashback to Jeri's mother's death, so it still works. >_>

  • @GilgameshSlicer Yeah...but it also makes less sense. As JesuOtaku pointed out in her review of the tamers series, the whole "This was my fate..." line was used to tie into the death of Jeri/Juri's mother, since her father and the doctors both told her that it was her mother's fate to die as well. This is why in her freak out scene later on she keeps hearing everyone saying "destiny", since in the original it's made clear that she believes it's the fate of people she loves to get hurt or killed.

  • Sub or dub, this scene is STILL heartwrenching.

  • Japanese Version For me.... :)

  • "Any last words?"

    "Impmon, pl-"

    "SHUT UP!!"

  • Rika seem more stupid in the JP version

"I can';t do anything" vs "What do I do now"

  • Beelzemon voice actor did a great work with this character (the japanes one, of course)

  • @eshelhombremono So did the English one.

  • Both versions are good.

  • the birth of scary jeri...

  • 1:46 Takato is orgasming. Seriously, go back and hear it again, it really does sound like Takato is orgasming.
