Mr. Versatility!! this is the same man that played Jam with Albert. That, I believe is why Larry has remained one of the most respected guitarist by peers & fans. Larry was a pioneer.
He brought a "new sound", influenced and introduced a generation. "Old jazz" to "New jazz" as it were.
He has so many sounds and moods. I even loved the Aspects album. Thanks Larry!!.
@markatier the guy that worked in the music store said coryell was stoned out of his mind on drugs he makes a mess out of everything his live art the village vangaurd fuzztone guitar solos can give you a headache
plays in a completely different style. No comparison and why should there be anyway? I remember Larry from the early '70s (when Pat was but an egg) all very jazzy on a Gibbo fatbody. Phillipe Catherine was his nemesis then and probably still is. Must check that guy out
Larry Coryells 'Bolero' at the World Expo 92 concert series was THE breathtaking guitar moment of my life. I saw it on TV, and it turned my attention to acoustic guitar, even more than the famous 'Friday Night In San Francisco' record did.
I've been at this concert it almost drove me to tears. The show was part of a 5-evening Guitar-concerts-week called "Night of the guitar" by MTV and organized (among others) by Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music). This performance was one of the highlights!
Great performance, great arrangement - much better than the weedy classical arrangements you can find here on youtube. Larry captures some of the climax of the original - though I think he goes 'off message' a little too much and it almost sounds like Crosby Stills & Nash at times - with a dash of Mahavishnu Orchestra thrown in for good masure!! Love it though.
I wonder why nobody commented this video yet. He is one of my favorite. (I met him twice, he is a great guy.) Basicly it's impossible to play on 12 string guitar like this. He is crazy! Thanks 4 sharing!

@ eggymoo "It almost sounds like Crosby Stills & Nash at times"! Hardly a damning indictment. I love it too!
