  • @hnbbs good for you =c)

  • I swear to god me and my mom found one by my closet. We live in Corpus-Christi, Texas. But he had blue spots.

  • i found one of those except id didnt click cause it was on carpet and it didnt have those glowing spots on it

  • I only saw two of these during my lifetime, I find them extremely cool and very interesting

  • I just found one.... But it wasn't jumping! It was making that annoying clicking sound, but it is not jumping and no glowing eyes but i know its still a Clicking Beetle. I googled "what kinda bug makes a click noise" and it brought me here. i am glad to know what it is tho :p

  • @NathanCJohnson they only jump when upside down, or when you put a little pressure on their... necks?

they are made of two segments, and if you take a pen or a stick and press A LITTLE(dont kill or hurt it!) on their connection they jump

  • @CrackCommando5654 oh, I didnt know that. thanks for the info

  • Thank you! I had one of these in my room last night and it scared the **** out of me. The one I saw didn't glow like this one though and it was a little smaller. Maybe they're different in Texas.

  • @Freezly lol pimp my cockroach... Its kinda true though

  • we have those here in california but they're muchhhh smaller

  • It's a Click Beetle.

  • i just fuckin killed one under my tv, had no clue what the fuck it was so i googled clicking insect and it brought me here :p i killed that shit dead tho $:

  • OMG I just found one outside on the porch. First I thought its a radioactive roach or an alien bug or something like that. Scared the sh** out of me.

  • @TheBredschnek I know the feeling. That was the second one I saw. The first one was in an outside laundry room at night. It scared me. The one in the video was the second one I saw. They are strange.

  • It's got a wonderful defense mechanism.

  • I was investigating the strange clicking noise in my den when I found a non-luminescent one of these...

  • pimp my cockroach

  • wtf whys it lighting up? i have one on my floor too but its doesnt light up?!?

  • I found 3 of these little critters in the last two days at a friend's house. Completely harmless, but they weren't bioluminescent, which is what i was hoping for. I guess those kind arent native in texas =/.

  • @flameboy85 When I made the video I was in Miami FL. I have now been in Fort Worth TX for about a year and a half and I have not seen any of them here. I guess I should have brought a breeding pair with me. Just kidding.. Just kidding.

  • lol I JUST saw one of those in my room! I thought it was dead cuz it was just laying on it's back motionless but when I went to pick it up it jumped a foot in the air and scared the crap out of me lol.

  • when you see this at night it looks like a little car driving around.

  • I love putting these bugs on my hands, they crawl around and are completely harmless. If you get lucky they'll turn their headlights on for you : )

  • In Cuba you would see hundreds of these in the summertime.

  • that bastard has headlights

  • OMG i found one in my kitchen it made a click sound then it jumped but no light i dont think HELP!!!! im fucking scared

  • @TheToshFan I dont think all glow, I found one just about 20-30 minuets ago, when I released it outside it didnt glow either, but it did jump, so theres nothing to be afraid of

  • Actually I found one in my house today and place a food cover thingy over it cuz i had to leave and I was searching too see what kind of bug it was and found some videos on youtube on it like this one and felt (not alone ) lol....im going to put it outside...dont need this bug clicking around in my room lol...

  • @jazzwomanofgod No you don't want to hear that... It is better off outside.

  • that is the strangest bug I've ever seen. it kind of reminds me of a roach with lights on it. good thing ive never seen one of these in real life otherwise id run like crazy..

  • @SuperhumanChichi I saw one too, I thought it was a roach at first lol,

  • @YnaffitDyob i thought it was too...

  • no that mother fucker cut it's legs or something, u fucking cock sucker, ur a d bag bro!, u mad?

  • Did you get it drunk? It can't walk.

  • Me and my wife freaked last night we thought it was just a glow from the surge protector, but then she saw it moving. I stepped on it and it started clicking and I jumped lmao!

  • omg i had a heart attack last night when i walked in my kitchen last night. i found this thing glowing in the dark. btw i live on miami beach!

  • omg i had a heart attack last night when i walked in my kitchen last night. i found this thing glowing in the dark.

  • Saw one just a few min ago..heard a click and looked behind me and it was the click beetle. Its eyes where glowing green. Iv seen a few the last couple years. (Miami, florida)

  • @spazzz96

I'm in Miami too. I saw one last night in my room! Never saw anything like it before down here. My room was dark except my laptop and I only saw the two lights slowly moving in the darkness. At first I thought I was sing a reflection in my glasses from my modem behind me lol. Once I found out what it was and it wouldn't kill me I covered it with a cup and let it free outside this morning :)

  • Scared the piss outta me when I found one in a closet a couple'a days ago. Then the "eyes" started glowin' and I started to like it lol

  • @JohnBaxterly It could be your pet. smile

  • They're all over my back yard.

  • @MichaelKeehls They are from outer space and you are under attack. Smile

  • I've actually seen one of these bugs a while back and a few clicks in, it actually broke something and died... fun stuff.

  • Looked it up and it appears to me to be what is termed a Pyrophorus (beetle) even though its a click bug too. One article I read mentions Texas and Florida as having them not up in TN or AL so that makes since then. There also some down in South America.

  • I've lived in the south all my life just up above ya'll and I've seen a bunch of click bugs especially when I was little. The ones I saw were always brown or some more on the black side, but I've never seen this species with spots that glow luminescent like a lighting bug before. Awesome, I wonder if it’s a subspecies only native to Florida?

  • it has some neon light under his shell, pimp my shell?

  • Click beetles are related to fireflies, but what is interesting is that there are species of cockroach (a completely different insect) with glowspots in this very same pattern.

  • @JoeCapricorn Oh gross.. a species of cockroach with neon lights. Just think you could walk into a room and not have to turn on the light and see them moving around. I am now living in Texas and have not seen any the click beetles yet and thank God no cockroachs other than our Gov.

  • @hnbbs You'll find glowing click beetles in Texas along the Gulf coast sometimes. Great video, thanks for watching!

  • do they see through those eyes?

  • It appears bugs are now radio-active since the US have been conducting experiments again

  • I saw one of these when I was 10 and it scared the living daylights out of me

  • I love insects im dieing to b an entomologist this is extremely interesting

  • @luxm514 I see from your YouTube page that you are 16. So you can take classes and end up being an entomologist one day. See about volunteering at nature centers or a zoo or something ... Good luck.

  • we have them in New Zealand. ours dont glow tho !! was yours sniffing phosphorescent paint by any chance ? :)

  • @incomprehensible1 I was surprised about the glowing. I did not know there were bugs like that other than the normal lighting bugs when I was a kid in Missouri. I guess there are a lot of things like that in nature. I guess that shows how much I know about nature. I saw some show on TV recently that talked about different things on the land and many in the oceans.

Pretty neat. If I was young and going to school I think that is a subject I would look into as a job for life.

  • @incomprehensible1 I painted it. Just kidding. Pretty strange bug.

  • there was one at my house i hit it with a shoe and he lived

  • lol So cute and funny. It amazes me that something so clumsy hasn't gone extinct already. I've never seen a clicker bug that could keep its feet...

  • heh the click beetles down at florida dont glow. or where i live

  • heh the click beetles down at florida dont glow.

  • seems to be injured

  • IS that a glowing click beetle? Awesome!

  • @SDChick Yes glowing..I did not know about them until I found that in the house (Miami, FL). Some people have commented that they saw one and it scared them. It does seem very odd.

  • @hnbbs It scared me. Thanks for informing me their beetles, but they still looked like small roaches to me. I've seen 2 (exactly like the one in the vid) so far in my house in different occasions, and every time I stepped on it they wouldnt die. very persistent creatures. hope i dont see any more. its quite scary seeing them in the dark. and even scarier when you turn on the lights!

  • @Nephaelye They are scary until you know what they are... Maybe you could just put them outside instead of stepping on them. Yes, I am a bleeding heart liberal. Smile

  • This is a cocuyo!!!

  • I grew up with these in the back yard! They can get pretty annoying when there are a few of them. I had a fox terrier that used to bark at them.(As if to tell them to stop doing that)

  • we get these in texas too!

  • Yes, They are in TEXAS!

  • i just had one of these things crawling and jumping around right outside my room. i've lived in florida my whole life and this was the first time i saw one. thing freaked me the hell out with it's clicking and jumping and especially the glowing ha ha

  • One of those has been coming into my room the past 3 nights! Killed all three but somehow there are more entering my room D8 Oh, and the ones I see aren't glowing.....man, hope I don't have a nest in my room er something :S

  • What the fk? Why is it glowing?!!?!?!?!

  • These things are awesome. They are everywhere here where I live in Texas. Like most bugs they are really draw to the lights at night.

  • I had one of them in my room, wow, it scared me lol... i had no clue what it was. It was a baby though. Hopefully i won't run in to the mom or dad lol.

  • Was Upstairs one night and heard a strange popping noise... went downstairs cautiously and discovered a rather small insect cataphulting itself into the air. But seriously does this bug have a name?

  • Here in TN, they are called "Clicking Beatles", they are funny to watch... Also you can handle them with no problems... When in your hand they click or snap and jump out of your hand...

  • wow i thought these were cockroaches i was going to freak out..i foudn two in my kitchen...i killed them little fuckers...they didnt glow like that though...but they did click like a mo fo when i got ahold of them...somtimes escapeing...very strong bugs

  • I remember catching these as a child back in the mid 70s and holding onto the back end so they would "click" repeatedly.

  • Our click beetles don't light up like that. Not fair!

  • I wish the ones we had here glowed. They'd be so much easier to find! I can hear the blasted things and I try to find them but for the life of me my eyes are useless. I know it's in that corner...I can hear it...but I still never find it.

  • I like how he's not at all afraid of it like most people in other videos. lol.

  • @tdub731 I think that was because it was inside. I remember months or years before at the other place we lived in Miami I was at the outside laundry room and it was very late and dark. I saw two glowing lights on the ground.. and I was thinking it was two lighting bugs and then I looked and saw it.. I was thinking what the hell is that..two glowing eyes.. Then it was gone..I had an uneasy feeling and did my laundry the next time during the day time. I never told anyone about that bug!

  • thumbs up if you jumped when it jumped the first time

  • One of them was by my computer freaked me out but i let my dog take care of it

  • haha i just found one of these in my room so i looked it up and got to this video. then i set it on fire

  • @fishstickscc Awesome.

  • He's happy to see you.

  • i swear i just killed this kind of bug a few seconds ago and surely google the shit out of it to make sure i wasn't buggin

  • @caramel4424 lmao i just did same exact thing

  • dude I remember playing with these as a kid, these were my lighting bugs as a kid in brownsville texas

  • I just found three of them around my house. They are very strange. None of my friends seem to know what they are. I think they are click beetles.

I hope they are not poisonous because they sure are fun to play with. :)

  • i have found one thos things

  • omfg there's one under my couch

  • The bug puts the lights on to help attract a mate. This is basically a horny bug.

  • had one in my shed . scared the shit out of me .

  • Wow. The damn beetle is clicking itself stupid! Looks like he's leaving his brains all over the ground there!

  • it was 4 a.m and i just came across it under my bed and i was like damn i hope thats not a bug and i squashed it with a shoe and its eyes turned on and i freaked and i hear at 4:56 am not knowing what to do i might not sleep.i live in florid, miami and this is my first time seeing this.

  • i just throw a click beetle down the tolit .... but y does that one has glowing spots like that of a lighting bug

  • Are these things poisonous? Because I just saw one going into my room and I'm scared to death to go back in there!

  • @M5eannaJ No not poisonous. Since I made that video I have moved to Fort Worth (Texas) to get away from them. Just kidding.. I moved but not to get away from them. One commenter said he had seen them in Texas. I will keep my non-glowing eyes out for them.

  • @hnbbs i live in texas city texas and they are everywhere i just painted my room black well just one wall ans now at night i wake ip with hem crawling on me its freaking scary

  • @hnbbs we live in brownsville and my husband just found one lol, he was like what the heck is that... brownsville is the southmost part of texas and since tha is exactly what we were looking for I can confirm thy are here too lol

  • why is there green lights on it?

  • I live in Miami and these are everywhere, but only in June and July.

  • one of these crawled up my neck right now, i thought it was like another bug so i just grabbed it and threw it idk if its still alive or playing dead ...lol =\ opps

  • Yes, I live in South Florida and have tons of these in my front and back yard. They only seem to be around in June but not every year though. The only thing stranger than the bugs is that nobody else that we know has ever seen them. They seem to be concentrated mainly in our area.

  • this is my one and only phobia.. the cucuyo. omg i hate these things. i cant go near one, see it, or talk about one without having a complete break down.

  • When I first saw these things, I didn't know they could jump so I looked really close at it, and it sprung right at my eye.

    Funny yet Fascinating little creatures.

  • i grabbed one of these without even knowing what it was and when it clicked the motherfucker scared me

  • In Cuba we call it a "Cocullo"

  • i shit my pants when i saw one in my house, it was dark & i thought it was a nano-robot with 2 glowing eyes

  • Cool beetle, it just looks a bit physically retarded? ^^

  • i used to have beetles like this at my house, but they were smaller and didn't glow.

  • those tihngs are way cool!

  • Cant walk :(

  • did you shove a glow stick through it's head? lol

  • i have these around my area tho one o saw never had a glow

  • i have those at my house!!!

  • LOL

  • time to call MIB

  • THIS IS COOL! IT GLOWS!!

  • its a defense mechanism it plays dead if that doesnt work it uses it back like a spring and i flips up then flies away

  • soo cute

  • ahaha lol its like popcorn

  • I can't believe that kind of beetle.. It jumps high..

  • Phyroporus, it is considered the brightest bioluminiscent insect of them all.

It is known as TUCU in Southamerica and I just happened to bump into one at San luis Potosí, it was inside my hotel room, the "snap" sound woke me up.. :) where they are seen more often....

  • We had one of those on the windshield of the car a few nights back, I've been in Houston 10 years and tend to notice things like bugs, but this was the first time I've ever seen one. Good to know what it is.

  • me two...Escondido ca

  • i see those all the time in texas but none that ever glowed

  • There was one of those stuck in some cobwebs under my computer case. The f*cking thing scared me because I thought it was something sparking inside my computer case.. T_T

  • Oh, my gosh! I became acquainted with this insect last night! It crawled up my leg, I swatted at it, and it hit the ground. I heard it CLICK, and I started freaking out (I hate bugs in general). Now I know they're harmless; it just scared me when it made that sound. I've lived in San Jose, CA all my life, and that was the first time I saw one.

  • I've seen them in Miami Fl when I used to live there, I like to pick them up, they're hurmles, they click & fly & have green lights.

  • I just found one of these in my bed...mine don't glow in the dark though, they just look like small cockroaches

  • dude this one glows? XD mine is all...not-glowy. |D

  • When I was a kid in South Texas, we used to call these "clicker bugs" and play with them. They were cool because they had glowing green eyes. But the ones that are invading my house now in North Texas seem more sinister since they are always landing on me and have mean looking red eyes.

  • I'm from the same area. I'm starting to see more and more of these pesky little bugs. The first time I ever seen one was a few months ago when I was sleeping and one woke me with the clicking noise that it makes. Good thing these things aren't dangerous.

  • It looks... drunk.

  • OMG IT WAS HIARIOUS!!! I was at the skate park and like me and my bf were sartt there and i heard a big CLICK! and i looks behind me and saw one of these sadly the one i saw didnt glow on its back , mind you i woulda whipped my phone out and recorded it

  • Oh no!!! I had one of those on my porch in Pennsylvania! I didn't know the light up and freakin' click! Are they rare in PA?

  • I wonder if there are any click beetles in Minnesota.

  • I get lots of those in the summer in North TX, but i had never seen one before I moved across town a year ago.

  • Just saw one of these suckers crawling on my living room ceiling. It spooked me even more when it started flying around.

  • holy crap its got headlights!

  • Last night I heard a clicking sound in my room while I was in bed. I turned on the light and saw that bug in my room. When I went by it, it clicked an jumped up like 3 inches! I live in New Jersey and thought no bug like this could be native to this region.

  • Click beetles are found absolutely everywhere in America, they were one of the most common insects I ever saw in Maryland. Glowing ones are only in a few southern states, though.

  • I live in Miami florida and we used to have a bunch of these things. Too bad after the hurricane they seemed to leave. But there are still a few, saw one tonight. Though I'm used to a Cuban term/spanish called "Cocuo". Not sure if that's how you spell it, but it's said, Coke-coo-yo.

  • my mom saw one of those in my house,

and she liked how it glew(glowed,

    whatever)

  • bet those things sound like soda crackers if you step on them. Yuck.

  • Then leave them be and don't be an asshole.

  • This is so cool!! We have click beetles here in California but I have never seen one that glowed like this...

  • Wow, he looks like he's almost dead. Poor thing.

  • it lights up!!! hahaha that's funny!

  • haha unfortunately, that click beetle can't get upright, i just found one in my basement, i was gonna call it the popcorn beetle, then i realized it was click beelt,e but the one i have it amazing, and really strong, im gonna feed it cashews

  • LOL!!!

  • It's a Luminescent Click Beetle (family Elateridae).

  • Sweet. I saw one of these tonight outside.

  • Well At Least He Complies With FAA Regulations. I Think?
