  • I love the barking dog demonstration LOL

  • BARK~

  • HaHaHa,

I could not stop my laugh when you were doing test on testtube 3.

  • tahts stupid if u do this i aqous solution only result: sodium will reackt with water to the hydroxide, under development of hydrogen (the small pops, and the hydroxide will let the iones of Co,Cu and Mg make desulute --> no great difference would be interesting if you would have heated Na with the anhydrous chlorides

  • Did you really use a q without putting a u behind it?

  • @supressor2 yes, it is true that because this was done with aqueous solutions, NaOH was produced, but there are also reactions that occur in soln. after NaOH is produced. for example the cobalt soln. turned a bright blue, indicating that the cobalt chloride molecule was reacting with the NaOH. if I had to speculate I would say that the products of that reaction were NaCl and Co(OH)2 in solution. that said, the Na will first react with the water in these experiments.

  • Well Done!! Several important displacement reactions showing sodium is very reactive and is placed at the top of the reactivity series

  • Yes, when mixed with water it goes bang. Sodium = Na, salt = NaCl. Sodium is unstable, salt is extremely stable. Getting sodium metal out of salt requires a ton of electricity.

  • are these different isotopes of chlorine

  • Have you heard that cobalt chloride is carcinogenic? Oh what is the product ( the gas) coming out of the tube?

  • Hydrogen. It's produced when sodium reacts with water.

  • Very, very nice demostration. And I see you have plenty of sodium metal XD Nice

Have you ever made experiments about making different transition metal complexes? You should, because you have practically all the reactants needed.

  • lol, u got the thing stuck

  • Great video, but what is sodium, is it common salt?

Is zinc chloride toxic because it can be found in mouthwashes. How can I be allergic to chlor hexadine, are you familiar with that stuff?

  • i think sodium is a metal and its found in common salt along with chlorine

  • it's a delicious metal and very chewy!

  • No, it's not common salt. That is Sodium Chloride, the product of sodium metal and chlorine gas reacting with one another.

Sodium metal is chemically much different, and much more reactive, than Sodium chloride.
