When I was watching you drill a hole into your bullroarer, it made think of this: when I was in the bush, I always took a short length of no.8 wire with me. You heat up the end in a fire and use that to drill the hole. very quick and easier. Plus, you can use the wire to hang your billy or pots over the fire when cooking.
hi,the bullroarer should be allowed time to wind up,before it will sound,to save energy use a side swing, then when it has wound up and begins to sound let it come out over your head, ive two ive made, one big one small,i will try to make a video of these in the new year,i think you need to carve out your bigger one more so it sounds like a roarer,it at the moment is very broken in its sound..good effort though, thanks for showing...merry xmas.
@wolfbushcraft Hi - thanks for the tips. Yeah, a few days later I made a much thinner and lighter one very quickly and the sound result was certainly better. Thanks too, for your thougts on my "log drill" trial.
First time I saw a bbullroarer was Nick Dundee's Crocodile Dundee movie from down there. I was amazed how aboriginal people figured out how to send a message on long distances, not to mention a boomerang huh!!!!
I had never heard of a bull roar. Thanks for the demo. God bless. John

Nice job Tim!
How many bull answered for your roaring? More than enough to cook your newyear's dinner? :-)
Happy new year to you and your family!

LG, Benedikt
