  • I didn't know CptStoner played guitar.

  • Laboga will be a better choice for many users

  • Nice sound! And awesome playing! love the video!

  • @madcheshire77

    Thank you ;-))

I just reallised that vidéo has been seen more than 167 000 times ... whaooo ... it's amazing ...

    So thank you all ;-))

    Cheers

    Jean

  • i either want the 6505+ or a meas boogie single rectifier. the ones im looking at are both used come with a cabinet and a road case for the head. Peavey = $700, Mesa = $1250. i can afford both but cant decide! Help! I need advice. Awesome playing and video btw the way. Rock on.

  • I'm thinking if we all begged enough Mesa might consider putting this beast back on the market cuz i want one so damn bad i can't stand it

  • i have to say, i keep coming back to this video, the mr hector didnt really impress me too much :/

  • Je veux cet ampli... Et l'argent qui va avec.

  • just test a Laboga ;-))

    Cheers ;-))

    Jean

  • which one do you advise me??? the single rectifier or the dual rectifier???

  • that jazz guitar kicked so much ass!

  • Can I get a good "Gothenburg" guitar tone through a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier?

  • Wow I have the ultimate FML: I just bought a triple rec half stack from a guy on craigslist and got home at 10:00 PM so it's too late to play it! (true story)

  • @happytyler41892

It's never to late to play LOLZ

  • If you could choose between your amplifier and a Roadster, which would you choose?

  • Could you have covered up any more of the video with friggin pop up boxes?!

  • your playing is shit hot fella! are you using modes, i really want a single rectifier..

  • what are your settings for the metal tone? please include eq and diode setting or whatever that switch on the back is that tightens or loosens the sound. Also, please include volume levels, master and channel. Thanks in advance!

  • Hi man, can this amp play awesome in a bedroom/living room volume level?

  • with a hotplate it can..

  • what song were you playing at 1:59 during the jazz portion of the vid????

  • Don't know ... just some chords with jazzy sound ...

  • @Fontanille a song that is very similiar to that is "Here is this rainy day" or that rainy day.

  • It sounds like bossa nova. Very cool btw!

  • @xXlopoXx autumn leaves :P

  • @xXlopoXx Its a circle of fifth progression in some minor key. But if you want a song name, try sining Autumn Leaves to it.

  • @xXlopoXx i think you mean autum leaves :)

  • I'm having trouble deciding between a single or dual rectifier. Is there a significant difference in tone? single is more in my price range. Help!

  • @blahblahblahx2 I'd go with the single. If your really good with controlling your tone with your guitar that is. Solo 50's you don't have to push as hard to get the sweet spot, and you only have 2 channels (which is all you really need).

  • @TheSlayerLair Do you mean by controlling your pick attack and all that jazz? I have heard that these amps are pretty sensitive to mistakes and all that

  • @csmorgan But stock can Sound Good at low volumes?

  • There isnt a huge difference in tone, the 100 watt has more headroom so it needs to be cranked louder. There isnt much of a volume difference either. I prefer the Solo 50. 100 watts is overkill in any application. 50 watts is anough power and easy to crank. Go with the 50

  • @blahblahblahx2

Dual has more headroom so it's better for metal. You have to EQ it though or run a boost or it sounds like crap. Mesa dual rectifier and boosted mids and gain using a MXR KK 10 band and proper amp EQ settings makes some awesome sounds. The amp dry just can't be made to sound great for anything other than rock though.

  • The only real difference is that one has two channels and the other has three. Also depending on how loud you play or if you play gigs. If you want to use the clean channel at large venue gigs than get the Dual Rec, If you only use overdriven settings than the Single Rec would work just fine.

  • i was gonna get a single, you can crank it more tbh, the sounds wont really be much difference either

  • I have a Dual and I love it especially when I use Vaccum Tubes position. But There's no vaccum tubes on Single Rectifiers so... If you don't need vaccum tubes and you just play on Diode position I think both amps are pretty close.

  • they're 2 completely different amps.....

  • Mesas are amazing amps. The industry standard for metal today. It's almost hard to find a popular metal band that doesnt play Mesa Boogie (i know there are bands that dont, but a huge portion does)..

  • is this the solo 50 rectifier?

  • yes it is ;-)

  • What song do you play in metal part? Can I got this riff please?

  • i know, it fuckin rules hey?

  • its very saturated rather than a crunch like a marshall or mid tone like a fender

  • what famous metal bands use this?

  • the ones i can think of are like as i lay dying, and august burns red

  • shit loads man, like metallica uses this amp in their live setup, killswitch engage, korn used these, like check out the mesa website, so many artists

  • Metallica, COB,Jonh Petrucci,Lamb Of God...

  • Strapping Young Lad for one. They're fucking awesome.

  • Indeed SYL are fucking awesome, real shame Dev split though. He's using some other amp instead of a Boogie now though. There amps are black & purple & Leslie West endorses them, i forgot what there called, erm........i think its Budda Amps or something im not sure.

  • my favorite band- "the devil wears prada" does and thats why im getting it

  • Dream Theater, and Kirk Hammett used Mesas before joining Randall, Nergal from Behemoth uses mesas as well, and many others I'm sure, cuz they don't have to pay for them

  • Hey man,do you know if James is going to sign with Blackstar?I hear as soon as Kirks Randall contract is up he is going to sign with them also.Anyway just wondering if anyone else has heard that to see if its true or not.

  • I haven't heard about that, sorry

  • A) Kirk still uses Dual Recs in his rig

    B) Mark Tremonti, Kurt Cobain, Willie Adler, Mark Morton, Andy Timmons, James Hetfield, Devin Townsend, both guys from Coheed and Cambira, and dozens more use Mesa.

    C) Mesa doesn't give out amps. You may be able to get a discount, im not sure on that, but I have been told by several friends in the "business" that Boogie will not give out amps for free.

  • to the guy from metallica? Come on, The 2 guitar players get free stuff from ESP, so why not from Mesa.

  • ESP isn't Mesa. ESP gives stuff out. Mesa just does not. Thats not how they operate.

  • I doubt buying a couple Mesa Heads isn't going to break Mr Hetfields Bank account...

  • yeh it's true, they don't give away amps at all, they say it on the website

  • mesas policy is EVERYONE pays full price for their amplifiers. even the players who endorse mesa pay full price for the amps.

  • What's the point of being an endorsee then??

  • free publicity. if your name and band name is posted on the mesa website, and in all the magazines then people will check you out.

and in the case of mesa unlike other companies, you are the one deciding to endorse them, rather than a company paying you and asking you to endorse them.

  • You are right. Even If a dealer decides to cut some away on the prices (or offer discount)- Mesa can pull thier license to

    sell thier products.

  • Amon Amarth

  • this is a triple rectifer?

  • i dunno maybe its the mic or w/e but this amp doesnt have a very nice lead sound

  • Hello,

I think this amp as a good sound but precision is really missing ... thats why Laboga amps are so great ... with a fantastic 6l6 sound and an incredible precisison ... ;-))

    Cheers

    Jean

  • I fell in love with the jazz part !! I listen more metal than others styles, but i love jazz. Did you play something in particular, that i could learn ? Because since a long time, i want to play things like this !

    Amicalement

    jean

  • hey how expensive are those rectifiers cause im considering of buying one

  • i just got one for £1000 on ebay, rectifiers are much more sweet than what you will hear on youtube, you can really dial a nice sweet warm tone out of them, i traded my peavey jsx for it well worth it

  • Check out my video "ESP Eclipse Flame Maple Cherry Sunbrust" You wont regret it or maybe you will!!!!! You cant diss it if you dont watch it.

  • buy what ??

  • Where can i buy 1 online?

  • No pedals right?

  • no ... no effetc ... or drive etc ... just the amp and the guitar ... but the result is better with a laboga tube amp ;--)))

  • Amazing video.

What tuning did you use in metal part please?

  • Thank you so much ;-))

I think the tunning is normal E/A/D/G/B/E

    Cheers ;-)

    Jean

  • when I have eadgbe my pinch harmonic sounds so crappy. and your pinch is so "squeaky" and cool for eadgbe. Can you tell my why? :) thank you

  • amp, pickups, and string gauge make pinches unique.

  • the quality of the amp and the guitar

  • r u playing using the amp's preset overdrive ?

  • Hello,

Yes it's just the amp overdrive ...;-))

    Cheers

    Jean

  • amazing amp and guitarist

  • hey

whats the song at the begining.. thanks

    by the way beautiful amp

  • Thank you ;-))

The song is extract from the album "Boarding Pass" of my french instrumental band " Fantastic(s)3" ... it is available on guitareuroshop website ;-))

    Cheers

    Jean

  • "coisinha de jesus"

  • Wow, super guitariste vraiment!

    Merci davance,

    Thibaut.

  • Merci ;-))

    Jean

  • muy BUeno

    Merci, tu gères

  • I think it's not the only amps that allows you to play many styles of music ;-) i'will do some other videos with an other tube amps soon ;-)

    Cheers

    Jean

  • Great review. Best one I've found on youtube. I don't know about everyone else but I like to play a little variety and like having an amp that can do it all. Your video is the only one that shows how versatile this is. Props. Anyone know how much this costs at GC if you buy the head and cab? They don't sell mesas online so I can't look on any websites.

  • Very good!

wath are your setting for metal? chanel?mode? thanks!

  • Thanks ;-)) t's always the same setting : it's the vintage mode ,my setting is : master : 5/10 Presence : 4,5/10 Bass : 4/10 Med:6/10 Treble :6/10 Gain:7/10 I only change the sound with the volume of the guitare ;-)) Jean
  • interesting! :))) what are the settings for fusion?

  • Thanks ;-)) t's always the same setting : it's the vintage mode ,my setting is : master : 5/10 Presence : 4,5/10 Bass : 4/10 Med:6/10 Treble :6/10 Gain:7/10 I only change the sound with the volume of the guitare ;-)) Jean
  • Wow, I'm convinced now, I want a Mesa Boogie. Actually this set up seems perfect for me, Single Rectifier 50 with a 2x12 cab. That's just awesome. How do you think this would fit for extreme metal music?

If you were living in Montreal I would take classes from you.

What's the name of the song in the background at 5:30? I love the lead on this.

  • Thank you so much ;-))

I think this amp is really good for extreme metal music ;-))

i think you'll have to try before buy it but it could be a really good solution ;-))

The song at 5:30 is "Krisprolls" extract from the album of my french instrumental trio "Fantastic(s)3"

  • Great,

I just bought the Cab today. I found it used for 450$CND, which is a good price since brand new here it's around 800$. The Cab is in mint condition. Now I'm using an old Traynor through it, it doesn't sound very good for now. But it's just for when I put my hand on the Single Recto 50w.

I would really enjoy if you could make a video on how brutal your setup can be, but i know it's not really your thing...

  • Hello ;-)) thank you for your comment ... but not working any more with the importer of Mesa Boogie in France so I would not make more video with this amp ....

    i'm really sorry ....

    best regards

    Jean

  • ah ok

You still use the same rig anyway right?

I saw someone is selling a Mesa DC-5 Head for 750$CND, it doesn't look new, but I'm very confused now. Most reviews are saying it's a real killer Head for Metal. Have you ever tryed it? If yes, could you tell me how it compares with the Single Recto? (keep in mind I'm not a versatile player, I mostly play heavy stuff, I listen to other type of music tho). I ask many question because this is a lot of money and possibly a life investment.

  • DC is from Mark family amps. Maybe the earlier versions. So I guess the only way is to try it. And it wouldn't sound like recto. It's a different amp. Even different series of the amp. Mesa's are all suitable for heavy music. But there is difference in tone anyway between the series.

  • No i dont use a mesa Boogie anymore ... I really like this amp but i find better ;-)) I'll made new videos soon ;-))

    Best regards

    Jean

  • thanks for sharing !!!!!

  • thanks for visiting ;-))

    Cheers

    Jean

  • settings for metal please?

  • t's always the same setting :

it's the vintage mode ,my setting is :

    master : 5/10

    Presence : 4,5/10

    Bass : 4/10

    Med:6/10

    Treble :6/10

    Gain:7/10

I only change the sound with the volume of the guitare ;-))

    Jean

  • Great demonstration of this amp! I must try someone.

    What cab are you using?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

    Thousand thanks ;-))

    The cab is a 2*12 with celestion V30 ;-))

    Cheers

    Jean

  • great demonstration

  • Thank you so much ;-))

    Cheers

  • i wish i knew what you were saying frenchie! lol

  • What are your settings whilst you were playing 'Metal' in this demonstration?

    Cheers.

    A bientôt !

  • wow

    Jean

  • honestly, you bring out the best in a good amp

    great playing-----

  • Thank you so much for your comment ;-))

    Cheers

    Jean

  • I really like the soft sounds you got out of that mesa

  • Thank you so much ;-))

    Jean

  • Why would anyone care what someone with a name like "nightshit" thinks. This guy fontanille is accomplished whether you're capable os realizing it or not. Tes bien mon amie.

  • Salut ;-)) et merci à toi ;-))

    Amicalement

    Jean

  • I think u suck.

  • yeah Joe Bonamassa!

    cool man

  • Jeeees..i wish i had that..but i dont have the money for one :S

  • Mesa Boogie are hand made amplifier ... so the price is .... but when you have one ... it's for all your life ... it's an incredible amp ... so ... it's less expensive than changing your amps all the 6 month because it don't give you the sound that you want ;-)))

  • can you send me the setings of metal :| !!!!!!! i need them

  • t's always the same setting :

it's the vintage mode ,my setting is :

    master : 5/10

    Presence : 4,5/10

    Bass : 4/10

    Med:6/10

    Treble :6/10

    Gain:7/10

I only change the sound with the volume of the guitare ;-))

    Jean

  • are there any drawbacks to the guitar? intonation ect? do you think it's worth what you paid because i live in the us and the cost of getting one here will be a pretty penny. lucky for me the local luthier we have is one of the best in the world and he's worked with vigier before. i don't play in standard tuning so i'd have him set it up and make sure everythings in PERFECT working order even though i know vigier has very professional with setups from the factory any input helps thank you!

  • i've got an excalibur supra, you will have no intonation problems whatsoever. i have yet to find anything i dislike, the neck is perfect, the sustain and tone that comes out of it is fabulous. it's a really great instrument. GET ONE DUDE!!!!

  • Hello,

the supra model is fantastic guitar ... ;-)) really fantastic ;-))

    Cheers

    Jean

  • you have tremolo in that guitar?

  • Yes it's a special Vigier tremolo ..;-))

  • like the shredding-is amp expensive

  • Very nice. Rock on.

  • you are fantastic dude.. you can play loads of different styles to brilliant standards... great work

  • Thank you .....Thousand thanks ;-))))

    Jean

  • Do you use an OD boost?

  • No i don't ;-)) just the guitare and the amp ;-))

    Jean

  • marshall JVM can kill that

  • Marshall JVM is a really good amps ... i agree .. but i prefer the rectifier sound ... it's really différent ... both are very good amps ;-))

  • That depends on what you're going for. Either the 'marshall sound' or the rectifier sound

  • Could you please tell me your ampsettings on the different sounds? Love your tone!

  • t's always the same setting :

it's the vintage mode ,my setting is :

    master : 5/10

    Presence : 4,5/10

    Bass : 4/10

    Med:6/10

    Treble :6/10

    Gain:7/10

I only change the sound with the volume of the guitare ;-))

    Jean

  • what do you think of vigier as opposed to say paul reed smith or ibanez? better or about the same in value? i like the idea of the carbon in the neck eliminating the need to adjust the truss rod since there's not one

  • I think Vigier Guitars are just the very best i have ever played ... the neck is just incredible ... very very easy to play ... very dynamic ... and the sound of this guitar is just incredible ... you can play everything with that guitar ... I have played many other before ... but i really love Vigier guitars ... it's the absolute weapon ;-))

  • Salut,

J'utilise une Vigier Excalibur Custom ;-))

    Jean

    Amicalement

    Jean

  • bonjour!! je m'appelles 86bassguitar.

  • Bonjour ;-)

  • Salut, qu'elle guitare utilisez-vous?.

  • im glad u did this video. every other one i watched was cranked full blast, and distorting so bad i was beginning to think this amp to be a peice of junk. sounds great, and excellent playing. thanks dude.

  • Thank you so much ;-))

    Jean

  • Salut Fontanille !

    Jean

  • Thank you so much ....;-))

     in this vidéo it's a 2x12 cabinet but i prefer 4 x 12 cabinet ;-)

    Jean

  • Great playing, Great tone! Finally someone out there who doesn't demo it as just another metal amp! I'm def bying this amp! But is that a 2x12 or a 4x12 cabinet?

  • Turn off that annoying background music,i wan't to hear your wicked guitar playing and the great sound from that Mesa :>D

  • Play the video louder and you'll hear my guitar ;-))

  • hey man, i really enjoyed that

    great playing :) lovely vibrato

  • Thank you so much ;-))))

  • Thank you very much ;-) ...

i use the single rectifier for 10 years and it's still one of my favorite amp too ;-)) .....

  • Very nice examples of what the amp is capable of, the single rectifier is still my favorite amp even after 7 years of using it. Very nice playing as well. Thanks for a great informative video.

    Jean
