  • stupid ribbon, my ribbon is terrible i need better ribbon one mistake on my type of ribbon and its completley ruined

  • @flower10634 The ribbon should not make that much of a difference. Try it again and you will see the difference. If the ribbon is thin try wrapping it more times to give if more fullness.

  • I just tried this with wire ribbon. Almost impossible to do the cutting. I had to do some very ugly cuts to finally get something done, but it turned out pretty nice still. Not great, but nice.

How do you do this technique if you want a tail on your ribbon?

  • @shollia Hi,

If you want to use wire ribbon you need to cut the wire with a wire cutter as you found out the scissors does not work. If you want to have a tail, add a length of ribbon to the bow either before it is opened or after and cut the end on a diagonal. It adds a nice touch to it.

  • Thanks so much for this great instructional video! I have always made the ugliest bows, but this made it easy for me to understand & I just made a beautiful harvest bow for my cinnamon broom out of wired ribbon in ONE TRY!

  • can you do this with wired ribbon as well? will it turn out just as nice?

  • @Bubbles02251983 Hi, Thanks for asking. You absolutely can use wire ribbon. In fact the wire ribbon holds the shape better when made into a bow. Try it and let me know how it comes out!!!

  • I LOVE this video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I am trying to make a HUGE bow to use on a gift of a car for my daughters birthday. What type of ribbon or other material would you suggest to make a bow big enough for a car? THANKS!

  • @mrsrackleff Hi, I actually made a bow for a car using very wide ribbon and the same technique. Make more loops on the ribbon. Maybe 25-30 depending on the size that you would like the finished bow to be. It came out amazing. You can add a big key cut out of cardboard and place it on the top of the bow. Have fun!!!!!

  • its good for christmas tree toppers

  • Hello! Is it possible to use fabric ribbon for these bows?

  • @awwsee Yes, you can use fabric ribbon. You can use toole or ribbon...anything that is stiff enough to hold the shape of the bow. You can do it the same way and you can even use multiple textures such as ribbon and toole together. Have fun..

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial. I'd forgotten how to make a bow and needed to tie a ribbon up for my husband.

  • thanks so much:)

    this really helped.

i made it with my first try!

    thanks again.

  • Fantastic tutorial, so nice and simple.. cannot wait to give it a go!!! Any suggestions for a smaller fabric ribbon bow? Good job x

  • Thanks for your kind words. Do you mean a smaller bow or the ribbon is smaller? I have used smaller ribbon and it works just as well. I would do 20 turns of the ribbon to make it fuller. To make a smaller bow, instead of the length of the ribbon being 9" I would make it 5" or 6". Good luck!

  • I used fiber ribbon instead and it still turned out greatQ Thank You!..This was so helpful.

  • I am so glad it worked. Thank you for your comment. Glad I could help!!!

  • How do you do this with ribbon instead of twist ties - or is it the same?

  • It is the same technique. I used the twist tie so then that could be "wired" directly to something like a basket or package.

  • can you show us how to use multiple colors of ribbon please??

  • The technique would be the same. Decide what colors you are using and wrap each of the colors to equal the 16 turns. So if you are using two colors you would wind the first color for 8 turns then the second color for 8 turns on top of the first color.

  • i don't get it.....................

  • Watch the video again. It is like making a big loop. Wrap it around 16 times. Once you get the hang of it it is very easy.

  • hahahaha eesh u should see my first attempt its not good i just cant hold my ribbon and turn in to its all nice and neat it just goes everywhere!! any advice??

  • Try again......practice make perfect!!!! I know you can do it...It is just like making a giant loop. You just need to wrap it around 16 times. Watch the video again and I know you will get it.

  • thanks for keeping it simple!

  • Thank you for your comment.

  • Using wooden dowels you can glue streamers of ribbons to the end of one dowel and let it "freefall" down the length of the dowel. On other dowels you can put a bow (made from a streamer) at the top of the dowel and very loosely wrap a strip of ribbon down the dowel and glue at the other end. Place these dowels on a round piece of Styrofoam around the base and you can even weave toole around where the dowels fit into the styrofoam. This will be a pretty and inexpensive way of making centerpiece.

  • I bought several packages of black and brown satin 3" ribbon. I'm getting married in the Fall, can you recommend any ideas of what I can do with these satin streamers?

  • You are welcome...

  • thank you so much

  • Thanks a bunch!

  • i've been searching all over and this is the simpliest way i've found to make a bow. thanks.
