Looks like fun, especially the hammering. I did a lot of hammering inserting the grommets for my Sweet Pea costume: weirdly enough, when I used a concrete surface, there was almost no noise. These techniques will be useful for the faux shoulder holster I'm making

I will take an old leather jacket that someone gave me. It's a long coat, and I'm 5'1" soooo it looked horrible on me anyway. I'll crop the coat and make it more like a fitted biker jacket, like what was in Fall of 2010. Then, I would take the scraps and make a hip belt (like the one chickie wears on "Burn Notice") and a sewing tool belt out of the rest. :oD

Tip for setting the snaps. Start with several light to moderate strikes on the setting tool and finish with very hard strikes. If you start with hard strikes you can very easily bend the stem and ruin it.

I wouldn't worry about using leather. There's much more animals that die to be eaten than skins that are used to produce leather and I think it's nice to use every part of an animal rather than throwing it away. It's some kind of respect for the animal in my opinion... Btw, I love this project, it's really cute
