Tried the vineger trick and it didn't work the best. got some out. Something that seem to work well is this. Get some Hoppes 9 gun cleaning solvent and dump it in the tank. A small bottle or two. Swish it around and go to town on the inside of the tank with a cleaning rod from a gun cleaning kit and a 12 gauge brissle brush with an electric drill. You will see results in short order. Take your time and get it the best ya can then rinse all out with water, then gas and wd40 rinse and fill gas.
@countryboy1320 well i think that diesel fuel would be best, they say your suppost to use baking soda to neutralize the acid from the vinegar, you need to do something it will flash rust pretty quick, i have also heard of using acetone instead of vinegar
do you have a video showing all of the stuff that came out? Going to go buy some white vinegar tonight and soak my tank. Its pretty bad. So after letting it soak I should put some premix in it *restoring a moped* or flush it out with water?
after you do it..you probiably want something to nuetralize the acid in the vinegar i have read where baking soad would nuetralize it..but i think diesel fuel may do the trick...but if you put straight water in it..it will flash rust like instantly when it hits air...thats what happend with mine but it was still better than what i started with..i have several videos of the tank just look around
remove the nut hold a rag over the end of the muffler and rev up the motor about 20 time its going to blow a bunch of water and mud out of the hole on the bottom might help

ok, so i did exactly as you did and to my suprise it worked very well. i couldnt get diesel fuel to put in though because my parents wouldnt take me (im only 15) but your right on it flash rusting. i did some research and i found a product that puts a nice coat inside your tank so it never rusts, ima taking my frame to have it sand blasted and i think ill do the tank as well. my bike is in pieces right now but hopefully i can put some viedos up to show you my project.

well i just did it one night...then i took about half of it out then i put about three blue paper towels in there and mixed it around ...heres the trick my flashed rusted some i think that you should fill it with diesel fuel after you do the vinigar soak...to help oil it back up i used gas....it flash rusted some
great videos!! im in the process of restoring my atc 185s as well. im doing alot of engine work to mine. i had one question with this vinigar trick, did you soak it just one night then your done? or are you filtering it to do another night?

white vineger! I was using small bolts and nuts and shaking it, took too long and my arms are sore, will try the white vineger!
