How insightful. The enormous poster at 8:33 shows that, beyond a shadow of a doubt, Lenin and his toadies were ruthless scum. Wonderful Western documentary.
It seems that ALL these socialist leaders are egomaniacal sociopaths, w/ to much time on their hands. They are all the products of privilege w/ dilitantish sense of their own entitlement. They fill their minds w/ these sick murderous ideas make the world into play things for their fantasies.
@TheDakota671: So when Muravchik was a socialist, he was objective, but when he realized how destructive his erroneous ideals were he became "biased." Thank you for a typcal display of socialst "logic." The two favorite arguments of the socialist: name calling & "shut up." That you cite NO erroneous facts in his documentary & resort to ad hominem attacks, this proves you have no actual argument & are basically conceeding the truth of this documentary. I thank you for doing so.
Its intresting how no reference is made to how socialist movements in the U.S. were crushed by big governement and corporations which only sought to exploit workers in an effort to make exponential profits.
@elincreible89: NO mention of it is made b/c these things are only fantasies of your own ideology addled mind. Socialism in America was crushed by the vast weight of America's utter indifference to such nonsense.
this documentary is so biased towards anti-Lenin and anti- Bolshevism where are the right facts that the provisional government was useless and was not putting an end to the war!! also Lenin's April thesis which outlined the imperialistic policies of the the western nations..and the civil war by western countries that engulfed Russia in order to curtail the socialist cause to other countries
Wow, they really excluded a lot of pretty vital information about the February Revolution. And perhaps the provisional government WAS liberal, hence the massive ignorance of the wishes of the population, totalitarianism, and imperialist institutionalization. Had the provisional government remained in power, they would have likely become a nationalist military dictatorship like Germany.
"Nationalist" - Yes, Stalin did promote nationalism by reinstating the old military regalia of the Tsar. This is most often cited as one of the greatest causes of the Red Army's morale boost. They certainly couldn't have withheld that long without it.
"Military Dictatorship" - It is a Total-War oriented situation, and all nations involved in the war were in a similar situation. However, the Red Army was not 'in control' of the USSR - that was the party and the worker's councils.
OMG this documentary rejects historical reality and substitutes its own
"The February Revolution" as described by film there was a military uprising and the Tsar avacated. well that was good of him wasn't it he seems like a nice man. f#%! me talk about taking a rose colored look
They used that term in the European sense: free-market, small government, individual freedom. An European liberal is a moderate version of Ron Paul (though a liberal can also be a libertarian); an European liberal strongly opposes politicians as Nancy Pelosi, Reid, Obama, Barney Frank. Progressives in the USA hijacked this term to cover the final goal of their political strategy: big Government. An European liberal is what a conservative is supposed to be: pro-small Governement
@Slugg329 No need to spread the "news". Everybody knows that communism is the bloodiest, most oppressive, most despotic ideology that only brought death, ecological and economic disasters where it reigned. No need to spread the "news" about communism. Planned economy is the epitome of idiocy. What is good about communism?? What problem did communism effectively solve in history?? Name me only ONE country where communism did not end up in a rotten shithole?
@shurednichso Lenin was an opportunist who should have focused his revolutionary efforts in Germany or France in lieu of backwards Russia. Kautsky predicted the mess that was the USSR and Lenin gave capitalists plenty of ammo - Leninism was/is a perversion of Marx/Engels works. Russia was doomed to a world of shit without first having gone through a bourgeois democratic capitalist phase. You wont see that in this propaganda piece though :)
@shurednichso Any chance to demonstrate my superior intellect on the youtube comment section is seized upon like a rabbit tiger devouring a bunny. I take myself very seriously.

How shameful. They're using footage of Russians killed by Nazis and saying that this was done by the Bolsheviks. Dirty Western lies.

Russia had a very bad work ethic BEFORE communism? Oh.

@VictorLepanto You are aware this documentary is based on a book by an American Enterprise Institute fellow and does have bias.

@TheCommunard The fact that the provisional government stayed in the Capitalist War of 1914-1918 demonstrates how they intended to betray the people.

Did they call the Duma liberal?
MomSaysImCool 2 years ago
It was in the eyes of the Tsar - even the ultra-reactionary conservative 'Decembrists' were regarded as dangerous revolutionaries...
I think it was fairly radical, rather than just liberal, as a result.
TheMagicLemur 2 years ago
Okay... just so long as we're all clear that the Duma can't be considered Liberal by any other definition.
